we tied for 2nd place in this year's talent show with Metallica's "Fade to Black."
None of us by any means think that this is amazing. We put this together with 2 band practices in a matter of 2 or 3 weeks. I am fully aware that the drumming doesn't sound like Ulrich and isn't all that great. If you would like to tell me that I suck like the 100 other people that have, I guess that's what comment boxes are for. Regardless, we all did a decent job. And seriously, it's a high school talent show, not a Metallica cover band. HATERS GON' HATE. It's funny to us when you say the drummer sucks; also, it's exceptionally funny when you tell us that your band is better, that he's playing everything wrong, and REALLY funny when you post a drum cover of this song as a video reply and it sounds like you're hitting pots and pans with a broken broomstick handle. 7 year old spelling and lots of swears is the icing on the cake. With that said, troll away!
Also, the whole cargo shorts thing wasn't planned, and we all realize now how goony it looks.

I was very lucky to have been in a band with the same kids from ~13-18 years old, (we were ALL the same age! 😂). That was before computers so we did a lot of rewinding and stylus lifting. @@P1NOU We learn cross handed because, if you're right handed, your strong hand is playing the hats and your weak hand is on snare. Generally, the hats is a technically harder pattern to play than the just back beat pattern on the snare. Like, when you switch to the ride you are still playing the same pattern with your right hand, but just a different cymbal. It's easier to learn to play the hats with your right hand. Like, that's the default. If you can play open handed like this dude in the video, you should be able to do both. Open handed way is harder to learn, because your playing the more difficult pattern with your left (weak) hand and the back beat with your right. If you can do both then you can play more interesting grooves and fills because not crossing hands means you should be able to move around the kit more efficiently. Now, I know someone is gonna say, "he's probably just left handed". That's fair enough, maybe he is. If your left handed, you have two options. You can set up your kit totally backwards with the hats on your right and floor tom and ride on your left. Most lefties don't do that; since you can never play someone else's kit without rebuilding the whole thing instead of just adjusting a few things for height and comfort. Also, if your a lefty you have the advantage of just naturally being open handed. A lefty just has to learn how to play the ride "backwards". A lot of famous drummers are actually lefties. Ringo was a lefty. It is said that has a lot to do with his unique sound.

Guitar is hard to get this good at and it’s even harder to play that well while singing and while performing in front of crowd. Some people really have no idea and get excited when someone plays single chord, like it pisses me off when someone will shred a killer solo and get no reaction but as soon as a simple chord progression is played they lose their minds!
