Donna - I live in W. Yorkshire and ordered The Miller Fam. book from America from Waterstones estimated for a 6 week delivery. Two days later they text me. It had arrived in my local Waterstones that morning for the normal price UK £17-99. You can try this if Amazon doesn't work for you. From another Brit. hope this helps. My way you may have to wait until the book is out.

One of my favourite memories from picking up my children from school was asking them ‘what was your favourite thing about today?’ That little sentence would open their minds to so much more and we would just talk and talk (I would also ask the same thing to all 4 of my children). One of my night time rules was ‘no phones at the table’. This would allow us to talk, laugh and sometimes even have a little silence if needed. I loved spending that little bit of quality time with my family. As far as your comment ‘it starts with YOU!’, you honestly couldn’t have phrased that any better. I grew up in a very mentally/emotionally abusive household, never even hearing the phrase ‘I love you’. I decided from a very early age that I would make some changes to how I raised my own children and I’m proud to say, I HAVE achieved that (my kids are now 15, 17, 19 & 25) & as much as we aren’t perfect, I am so proud of how we communicate even to this day.

My daughter is 24. My favorite part of the day was picking her up from daycare. We talked about her whole day. I knew who was mean or who got in trouble. I got all the details. Now as I drive home from work, I see so many families with movies going in their vehicles. Makes me sooooo sad to see. The car is a great place to communicate because you are together and no one can go anywhere.

Don't let it make you sad. Each family/person is different and others may have a different place where they can speak/open up. I was the kid who liked the peacefulness of the car...I could sit back and relax, read, wonder, daydream etc. But the dinner table was a different story...that is where I was most talkative about my day.

Ordered! Can I just say that I'm so proud of you? Co-writing a book while running a large family is no easy task! I am breaking chains over here with my own family. I have a lot of days where I feel as though I'm failing, but then I hear one of my kids say, "so what was YOUR favorite part of the day?" And I think I must be doing something right. I tell them all the time that I make mistakes every day and that they will too but we WILL get through it all together and with the help of God. Thank you for being a light. It is NOT easy! ❤️

I taught parenting groups for years. I always taught that your words have meaning, and looking for positive reasons to affirm your kids is far more important than your criticism. Look for the little things. “ I love the way you combed your hair” or “ you are so helpful today,” or “ thanks for being a good listener today..I really appreciate your help.” Being the safest person in their lives is so important.

I don't blame Solo for buying those shorts in the No Spend month. It ought to be a rule that if something unexpected comes up that you can save a $100 for now versa buying it full price in the spring/summer, then it's not a strike against that no spend month. A 100 bucks is alot of a savings on a brand name pair of shorts. Sarah you might want to pick another month for no spend. Too many sales during January. Lol

I truly wish this book was available as I was growing up! As the only daughter with 4 brothers, life was not easy or fun! At 7, when my mom went to work, I became the chief cook and house cleaner…laundry, making beds, cleaning rooms..you name it, it was my job. I used to really resent this but now I’m Thankful because there isn’t anything I can’t to! I worked in aircraft manufacturing too! I’m very self reliant and have learned to self sooth when necessary. The belt was a popular tool with my dad! But I chose not to have children for a variety of reasons….

*one thing more, my mother passed in 2021, and one of my most precious parts of her legacy is that she told us: I love you like the others don’t exist, and she told us all that. What a beautiful sentiment. None of us felt she favored the other. And I love praise in public, chastise in private. I have climbed a large slide to whisper in my child’s ear, at 3,4,5, I don’t want to embarrass you, and… it’s worked like a charm every time, whisper in public. And we stay connected. Look forward to getting your book!

Thank you for this!!! I love it. It's been just my daughter and I for the longest time and several months ago she moved about an hour away to her first "big" job. I miss her so much, but EVERY day/evening she calls or Facetimes to tell me about her day, her successes, her worries, etc. It's the best. She was homeschooled, too but those foundations are so, so important. Some evenings she's just says she's tired, she loves me, and goodnight, but it means everything. She is 25 now and she knows that no matter what, she can talk to me, and the reverse is true, too... esp. now that she's an adult. There were some tough times and your magnifying comment made me laugh because it's so, so true. But, thank you for this. My baby is grown but look forward to grands and maybe even doing fostercare again. I can't wait to get your book!

Im gona order your book...im excited for it. And I 100% believe my Rosie was meant for me. I was going to leave a comment about wishing I had grown up in a family like the one you've created. Then, I thought to myself, I can create that for myself. Your father reaffirmed that when he spoke about being the first person to create a stable family dynamic. I have no human kids, nor will I ever because of medical issues, but I love my furry kids. I adore the attention you give to God, your kids, husband, yourself and your home. You are truly blessed. My husband and I want to create a homestead where we raise animals and learn to garden, just enough for our family. I pray that My Heavenly Father guide me to a life like that!!! As a single parent to an almost 13 year old boy I can attest that the points of communication you talked about are spot on. I became a single parent when my son was 1 year old and single parenting a kid that young was very hard especially when I was pulling double duty as both mom and dad plus working a full time job. The younger years of my sons life were very stressful and his behaviors started showing it. We got into counseling and therapy and it was during our counseling/therapy that I learned all my son wanted was to be validated and listened too. The constant correction when he was younger that I was doing was in fact defeating to him. I thought I wad handling it right but boy was I wrong. In one of our sessions I remember clearly my son stating to me "I don't want to do those things because my effort won't be good enough for you" like talk about a lightbulb moment for me. It broke my heart that I was breaking his heart. But by the Grace of God, I asked my son to forgive me and really started focusing on correcting less (only situations where it was absolutely necessary---picking my battles), started listening, taking time to invest in him and validate him.....and wouldn't you know it a couple years later we have made tremendous strides in our mother son relationship. And his behaviours have vanished about 90%. It does a world of wonders when you get on the right track of communication with kiddos.

What you and your dad said is so true, you guys hit the nail on the head about communication. I have openly communicated with my children since before they can talk. My 13-year-old daughter is a chatterbox and is always very engaging and ready to communicate. We always have great conversations, but my 15-year-old son is a little more reserved and more on the quiet side, but it's usually late at night when he comes and sits on the corner of my bed and just spills all. It's usually just him and I and I promise you, that is when we have the best conversations. We have even given that time a name, we call it our midnight monologues and I so enjoy them. When he opens up, it all spills out and we go from silly stories about his friends and things in school to very serious topics and I love it and I don't care what time it is, I'm ready. You guys keep up the good work and I pray that you all have an overflow of blessings in this new year.

Dear Papa and Sarah, thank you for the great inspirational conversation together!! Being a parent is hard, trying to make sure your doing the right things for your children, but listening to you two speak gave me so great things to think of. If you guys ever hang out again you guys should record a few more of these videos about parenting. Or ever chat about each chapter in the book. Listening to you guys talk about parenting helps more then you would know! Thank you so much💗God bless!! And best wishes on your new book!!

I have mastered the "probe ", my husband is always surprised by the things my daughters will tell me🤣 and it's so true, as I'm heading bed, my teens (and their friends), need a life chat! I'm so grateful to be a mom with a great relationship with my kids❤️

Good day, my daughter is 26 and I started communicating with her before she could even talk. She was a very quite individual growing up and well into her early adulthood. However, she has always been able to talk to me. Note: I sure there were and are things she doesn’t talk to me about but that’s what her good friends are for… I feel like you were talking about how I raised her. Makes me feel good. I don’t believe you ever stop parenting. We all (my siblings) still talk with our 87yr old mother about things. I also believe God wants parents and their kids to be successful productive individuals. I pray your book is a success. God bless you.

I was raised in a household that didn't communicate @ all. When my parents were mad, they yelled, and when they weren't mad, we didn't hear from them. I have totally flipped it with my kids. All lines of communication are open. When I am mad and can tell I am about to raise my voice, I tell them, "Let's take a breather and meet me back here in 20 minutes, and we will talk it through." Me, having all teenagers @ least every 2 weeks, I individually take them out to eat, and we have 1-on-1 time to really talk. My husband does the same, and we compare notes. I have 3 teenagers, so it's different in my house than yours, but a lot the same. You and your dad are EXACTLY right we can be the change!❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really enjoyed your sit down conversation with your dad! I tried my best not to bring my childhood into my parenting of my children! I didn’t have a good childhood, I was abused by my stepmother constantly. So that made me determined to raise my kids differently. We had dinner at the kitchen table every night. We talked and laughed. I did know who my kids friends were, had them at our house every day. I made snacks for them, I even talked with them and their friends. I didn’t always get parenting right, but I did my best.

Our time to talk was in the car on the way home from school and when they got older we did a round table What happened in your day! Well we learnt many a thing from that🥴😃 and now with just 2 at home and they both work we say How was your day and it gives them an opening to say how there day was. Love your channel 👏

That sounds so exciting. I have always wanted to write some books but have no clue how to have it published. I wrote a book about my one son's brain cancer battle to help other's. I wrote it on my computer, when I had one but it crashed. I've written some health articles for magazines but they took it and did what they wanted. If you can steer me in the direction of how to get a book published I'd appreciate it. As my son's dad walked out of our lives and I have to try to get some of my writings publish to help so we don't loose our home. Love your mom and dad. Your dad and you together are great. So much love and happiness exudes through your vlogs. Congratulations.

I wasn't planning on buying the book but the conversation on the end of this video was so refreshing I felt like I wanted to read it just to have that conversation continue. I like to think I have a common sense approach to parenting but I know I could always use more encouragement.
