Just did a redhot today in a ls3 , 445 through an auto, pretty dead before 3600rpm, peaked at 6400rpm

Hell yeah man. Sucks about the motor in your Fairmont but it's free knowledge for the rest of us. Great tip on looking for garlic bread and too much sauce on top is a no go!

I had the lq9 with 821 heads and truck intake with a tsp stage 3 ls3 cam in my Zephyr and it went 10.60s@126-128 like clock work all motor. Full interior car. That thing should be a beast with a blower on it!

Man that gives me a lot of hope. I have a LY6 pulled out of a 2010 HD. Going in a SAS'd OBS with a SM465 4 speed. Running Matt's cam and a Terminator. It has the stock 42b hr injectors. What injectors and fuel pump did you run? That is the only thing I need to nail down. Motors ready to go just have to quit fishing enough to swap it.

@joshhampton2883 I ran dual 255s inline and it was on e85 with deka 60lb injectors. It made 450whp through a th350 trans and an ati 8" converter

@@86boostdcapri Interesting. I have a Chinese Aeromotive 1000 pump and a 7875 gen2 billet VS I had planned on doing for another OBS I have but I'm gonna use the LY6 in my driver. Grab a junkyard 5.3 for the burnout machine. So I guess the stock 42s on pump will be enough to support that and just get a good 340 pump. I figured a single 255 wouldn't be enough. Thank you for the reply boss.

I build budget LS's on the side in San Diego, and have used the ICT billet drill template for the iron 6.0 blocks a few times. Works well.

I recently scored a 08 LY6 6.0L from a Express van in the u pull! Also was fortunate to grab 2 L92'S 6.2L's from a 07 Escalade and 07 Denali!

@rajcam80 I have used an F1A-94 with 440ci-505ci BBC well in excess of 1300hp thru them turning to 7600 on the 440ci ( 4.310 bore by 3.75 stroke with 6.9 rods ) and over 1000ftlbs launching 1.3x 60fts on footbrake for many years....top notch cooling, HD2 kit and decent clutches that's it....I cant believe I never broke a hard part...I mentioned the BBC builds cause it was heavy and had much more on the hit than my LS stuff did....aka trans killer...pulled the t400 installed that in my 67 camaro over 15 years ago never looked back...got one behind my LS7 Gen4 also shift at 7600 NA has seen 8k...I also say that because they supposedly don't like rpm....I did drill extra relief hole to evacuate pressure ......awesome find

My LS7 has a BTR 4 cam in a C6Z06, makes 630rwhp, pump gas, no power adder. It lives at 4k-7500rpm tho! 🤣

Every valve spring I've replaced on the ly6/l96 has been that 1. I've also seen cyl 7 and 8 seat exit the chat quite often.

I just had to pull the heads and get the valves done on my 278k mi LC9 and #7 cylinder was trashed while the others were worn as would be expected for the mileage. Not sure the reason why that cylinder was so beat.

Ict sells a drill guide for the hole. It doesn't come with a tap or anything, just a way to guide whichever tap you use..

curious what you do to delete DOD, do you thread and tap with a set screw/npt plug, use the DOD delete cover from GM, or use the fancy lingenfelter rivet tool? Also I just went back into my engine to get rid of that style of tensioner, I feel validated

Ict billet has a locating guide kit to drill out that hole for the alternator. It’s a 10x1.5mm tap size

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the wide split of the Red Hot. I understand Brian is "giving" parts, so there is that. My thoughts would be about .220/.224, .610 lift, 109+4. Really rowdy in N/A, mucho nocho's with the TorqStorm

Keep the stock head gaskets sealed as long as possible, they went through a ton of heat cycles, and abuse! Right from the junkyard perfect! I have been pulling the. For yrs and selling them ,as is ifit ain't broken don't fix it!

When you strip the block and put the d heads on the block and notice the head chambers are wider than the cylinder on the intake side what are you going to do. Jog the head or bevel the top of the block.

Have any experience with Thompson motor sports ls7 lifters? Seems like they’re advertised as a higher rpm tighter tolerance lifter that allows a bit more aggressive lobe ramp. Idk how well they’d work but figured I’d give them a shot.

Common to break valve spring I change them with a pushrod and they run fine Afterward. That happen when guide went at idle

LY6s are great engines, I have always been curious if 706/862 heads on a 6.0 vs 921/923s would be quicker because the smaller chambers and valves spool quicker and make more tq under the curve. Sure peak HP is higher however a few more psi upstairs with an electronic waste gate can easily equal that inspite of the smaller heads. Especially with a TH400/4L80e with fewer, taller, wider spaces gears. A 6L80/6L90 with the rec ports is probably going to work better I would guess. I suppose the right converter can take much of the difference away by keeping the engine up where the rec ports make the power however there probably are more losses to the tire with a looser converter. But yeah, 706 vs 923 on a 6.0 with a nice sized turbo on the street and strip what is going to be better to drive and quicker real world. That would be a great test. SSII and SSIII cams in each maybe as an extra bogie. I realize the turbo, fuel system, ethanol, converter, trans and displacement being equal on each combo are going to probably be more important factors to performance and power.

On that bolt hole, I’d find out what the thread is on the others. Then get the proper drill bit and tap. Bolt the bracket up an use it to locate where the hole goes. Maybe a sharpie will fit perfectly in the hole? If not use something to mark it. Me, I’d use my transfer kit (bunch of pointed punches in dozens of different sizes) to mark it.

You need to make the “best cam” for bigger engines. The current best cam is good for 4.8 or 5.3

what you should sell as a book of dues and don’ts for the first time LS builder like myself a sloppy step-by-step guide for building naturally aspirated turbo LS applications. I wouldn’t have to scour your videos to get rod bolt specs, or decide to reuse the timing chain or not, etc. etc. and that would be a good book

I'm 99% sure this is not a LY6 Matt because the engine you have has AFM and the LY6 and its successor L96 did not have AFM.
