I remember watching an adaptation of this where the king's son's blindness was just his hat covering his eyes and he wandered the desert not realizing until he finally met up with Rapunzel. She then lifted the hat off his eyes so he could see. that part made me crack up so much. And not only that but at the very end, Rapunzel gets a craving for some lettuce in her neighbors garden and asks her husband to take them for her. Aaand the cycle repeats. :P

I once read a story which told about a great man, he was the son of a Queen who couldn't have children for some reason until, one day, she saw a fine fish in her dreams and long to eat it. After it was caught she told her cook (who is also a woman) to not sample it. When the Queen's maid came to fetch it, she thought it was weird the cook couldn't taste it and taste it for herself to make sure it's done. She became gravely ill and was soon pregnant. The cook also tasted it AND fell pregnant, and when the Queen ate it (you get the deal). All three of them gave birth to sons who look so alike that they decided to become brothers.

The thing about where his voice is different from Mother Gothel's but she still let him up was probably because the tower was so tall that she couldn't hear that his voice wasn't like Mother Gothel's

I remember watching Tangled and wondering how a straight up lie just flew by, right at the beginning. The witch regularly uses the flower that's out in nature, yet the princess gets sick, so the entire flower gets uprooted and used in its entirety to make one batch of medicine and this is branded 'sharing'? If I remember right, the narration says the witch "didn't want to share".
@maxdecember74853 жыл бұрын
I know I’m a year late to this comment, but I think the point is that because Gothel didn’t want to share the flower’s magic, they resorted to stealing it out of desperation. And since they probably didn’t know how the magic worked, figured consuming it was their best bet🤔
@LilLadyAy3 жыл бұрын
@@maxdecember7485 year late is no problem.😊 They never acknowledge her, Gothel never claims the plant as her own and there's no proff of a conversation or anyone knowing she existed if I remember right. The story just starts with them taking something unique for one person deemed important (who can't be the first person to get sick) and using it in its entirety knowing/believing its a magic cure, they put it to good use and got the results they wanted, we would be safer in assuming the plant is legendary in stories but even than, we're given nothing. A successful town knows how to farm and could have attempted to clone the plant by cross pollination with a seemingly similar one, which has been done for eons, but I guess they could never be bothered (again, they never state anything)? Gothel knew to visit the flower to use it everyday to reverse her aging yet she respected nature enough to leave it where it was, royalty stole it and destroyed it for their own benefit and called it sharing. No real excuse IMO, even writing this now, disney looks less sloppy in making a villain and more politically charged.

@@LilLadyAy I definitely see your point. It’s been a while since I’ve watched Tangled, so I don’t remember too clearly. Seems pretty legit though. I guess the only “excuse” would be that they were in a rush or didn’t know it was the only one? But yeah, summed up it seems a bit stupid when I look back on it now😌
@lelescarlet7184 Жыл бұрын
@@LilLadyAyShe talked about this exact point on her other channel Abitfrank in her Rapunzel video. But yeah I completely agree. If they were aware that Gothel had a connection to the plant, they could have just asked her to explain how it worked and if they could use some of its power. It would make more sense if they didn’t know that Gothel had a connection to the plant, but it still wouldn’t make it ok. It would be understandable if they didn’t realize that someone else might be benefiting from the plant, but still not ok to just go and take the whole thing.

I played Rapunzel in a production of Into the Woods some years ago, which more closely follows the version of the take you mentioned hearing previously, with the witch finding out when she becomes pregnant with twins, etc. She was such a great character to play, (and the four-metre wig I had was amazing). Being stuck up in the tower alone for so many years basically sent her mad as a hatter, and iirc she had more lines screaming than speaking or singing. And the witch raps about her garden lol. Thanks for the cheery trip down memory lane!
