Nice explanation. So few teachers talk about "expansion" and yet it is a key component of the tai chi posture and use of power.

May I ask: I don't see difference between doing the regular set and this movements other than just a bit more dynamics. In external styles there's a lot more explosiveness and speed. So if one does a palm strike without contracting too much that would be fa jin. How do you see the expansion in these movements your student's doing?
@AlexDongTaiChi3 ай бұрын
It is the same form with Fajin. Tai Chi is not about just explosiveness, we connect like unify the body, root and expand the Qi to make our strikes strong.

Is fajin same side of coin as dynamic tension and muscle tendon change excercise
@AlexDongTaiChi2 ай бұрын
@@edgefinesse4700 Dynamic tension is more about using power in a strong way-like pushing something heavy. Fajin is more like a strike-it's fast and sharp.

So do you feel dynamic tension, sanchin kata, chinese strength muscle tendon change excercise is harmful..I keep hearing conflicting thoughts
@AlexDongTaiChi2 ай бұрын
Too much tension is not the best for health. But using power more naturally by using structure, movement and Qi is much better.
Sigh... people focus on "Explosiveness" because that's what Fajin is! Taiji often attacks without explosiveness, it is not the only or best way to strike or attack. You CAN use Fajin with brush-knee. It does not make sense with Push or kicks. These use different Jins. Tai Chi does not use the concept of "follow-through" for striking. Rather, it emphasizes "Release" and "mindful of the rear". You are not wrong when you talk about expansion, but it is not Tai Chi instruction to put the Yi into a follow-through. We have a rich legacy, why not use it?

Well, this is a 5 minutes clip about one thing. Of course you can do whatever you wants to. Use fajin or not, Taiji is about changes, use what's right for the situation. We can go on and on talking about, only in a real situation we know what works and who's better.

@@AlexDongTaiChi I feel like we are getting off on a wrong foot. I am curious about why you advocate a "Fajin Form" and how you think Taiji teaches Fajin. The two clips I have seen have nothing to do with Fajin from my perspective. I hope to understand better about your school's method someday. I hope I am wrong that your approach appears contradictory with my experience of learning FaJin.

It's all good. Thanks for explaining. I mean why not. We practice some forms slow, some fast and some with fajin. That's what we do. The same question can be applied to any form and style. We also practice drills with fajin and individual move. We also do it with a partner. It's hard to get into details writing, but yes. when you have a chance, stop by. @@daryabeygi
