Kunming has only one true Apple Experience Store in the western region, but there are 11 true Apple Experience Stores in Chongqing in the same western region. The one you see is indeed not a true Apple experience store, but it cannot be called a fake spot. It is just a secondary distributor. They also sell Apple products.

This is of course a fake Apple store, but they are legal because they are a company incorporated to professionally repair Apple mobile phones, which is legal in China, and these fake Apple stores do have a repair license issued by Apple. The repair parts used are genuine, but of course you can also use counterfeit parts instead.

Hey Steve, I happen to run into your channel and saw this video. I think these are APR (Apple Authorized Resellers) which are 3rd party stores following Apple's store guidelines, but there may be gaps in implementation as you saw. Apple uses these APR to widen their store coverage as China is huge, but in tier 1 cities Apple also established their own flagship stores which may match your impression of those stores back in your home country. Hope it explains.

Perhaps so Max but an APR would not normally use an Apple Style Frontage and also the staff made it clear they were an apple store to me.. But Apple don't list them on their own site as a store and Apple make it clear where their stores are, plus they rarely Authorise 2 stores on the same street barely a block apart? So I am not convinced but open to thoughts.

Check the Apple Store app on your phone. It will tell you where all of the legitimate stores are located.

@@Steve-Owens I was told by a Chinese colleague that there are Apple authorised stores where the lap tops, computers and phones etc are sold at the international prices and there are local Apple stores ( without Apple authorisation) where the good are sold at Chinese local prices. The customer has their right of choice.

I am Chinese. These stores are not fake. They are agents of Apple products. They are allowed to sell apple products. They sell real apple products. They have formal legal licenses. They also provide after-sales service. Chinese people buy apple products. Most of them are purchased online, because there are many people using apple products in China. These stores also have a certain market, but they are not the mainstream way to buy. However, some unscrupulous merchants sell some refurbished Apple products. You need to be careful when buying in such stores. Relatively speaking, the apple products sold here will be a little cheaper, so there is a certain market. When you buy, you need to choose a larger store. They provide formal product invoices, and you can rest assured to buy.

That’s what the world needs, more Dragon holes in buildings 😁 British Top Gear did a trip to China, and It was a real eye-opener regarding the lack of copyright. Some of the Chinese own-brand cars were modelled on Audis and BMW’s and they looked almost identical but were just slightly different. They even had a rolls Royce rip-off which looked hilarious. Another really interesting one, guys, thanks for sharing 👍❤️

It can be sold as long as it cooperates with Apple's distributors, and does not need to cooperate directly with Apple. Even one of the top three shopping sites in China, "Jingdong", have not been authorized by Apple, but they still sell Apple products.

They’re not fake...They’re just resellers that authorised by Apple so all the products are actually genuine. But there are fake products hide in small markets not this type of shops.

That's why you should never, fully, trust Google Dale, If you open a shop in Kunming and call it "Bill Gates Clothing store" or Ed Sheeran Burger Bar, Google will in fact give you them as results in both a Google and Google maps but Neither Ed or Bill will have a say in their being. So Yes while Google shows them, Apple does not. 🍎😒
