I have done this for the past three years here in Southern WV and very few bugs around the house.

I did this in my attached car port. Have ALWAYS had issues with wasps and mud daubers for years!!!!! Now the wasps, mud daubers and other flying bugs might gotten together and had a meeting and decided NOT TO BUILD NESTS in my carport this year????? BUT I have NOT had a single nest this year not even under the eaves!! I do see scouts buzzing around, I assume looking for a good place to put a nest?? I did have an issue with a certain species of bird (I looked it up they eat hornets, I just don’t remember the name) But spraying the mock hornet nest with WD-40 and no more birds!!!!!!! I made my nest from a paper bag from the liquor store that you put a pint of booze in. (They gave me a half dozen bags) I half filled it with plastic grocery bags and tied it up. I SWEAR IT WORKS HERE IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you saying mud daubers or mud divers?
@southlouisianahomestead2443 жыл бұрын
I refer to them as mud divers, but they are both names to same type of wasp. They are also know as dirt diggers, or mud wasps. Depending on your location.

@@southlouisianahomestead244 How many do you need on a property? I live on a small one but have a deck/cabin and a seperated garage. I'm thinking 2 or 3? They've infested the sailboat out front but I think I'll let that one go this year...

HI I have mnay huge holes. One is bigger than grapfruit size HOLE, others are so terrible big holes. I was told to replace the whole new wood, etc. So my Question is about the brown paper bag. It will get wet from rainy. How can I put it outside by gutters and size of high roof. Will it work with the black plastic bag over the paper bag so it would be waterproof ? will it work? or white plastic bag or clear plastic bag cover? Or Do i have to replace the brown paper bag nest again and again after rain for the carpentee bees? We can not climb too high to put the nest again and again? how often do you replace , once a year in the last Spring or leave it all year along because of inside? Or? What s about the outside? Please let me know. Thanks.

Put one up spray it with WD-40 it should last several rain storms? I have one in the corner of a down spout un treated it has been up all summer it gets wet and is just now starting to shore signs of mold. Or you can just deal with stinging insects. I down rekon it needs to be that high? Try it and see?

I might have to try this. Maybe stick one in our out door stereo. Last year we had a monster wasp nest in it.

I put a real wasp nest from last year near the carpenter bee holes and it didn’t do anything so I don’t believe a bag would work.

There are two other videos on my channel giving updates that they worked for me, but you are free to believe whatever you like.

What do you have to loose if it don’t work? I can’t vouch for carpenter bees? Never had an issue with them. But it will get rid of wasps and mud daubers!!!! I made mine a lot smaller. A pint bag from the liquor store filled half way with plastic grocery bags. Tied to the corner of the downspout with a zip tie. Not a single nest all summer!!!!!
