There is a difference, the MAS is having 12V, Ground and Signal. Signal is always on the same line. If it would not be, the ECU would get back either ground or 12V. Some also have 5V reference that got pulled down, so 12V for heating the wire, 5V pulled down for signal. If the sensor would've the wrong pinout like the Cam Shaft Sensor back then, it would have been a total different thing, because the ECU would get 0 grams or astronomical numbers. But good idea, a wrong sensor type can be the error here. It's hard to match them sometimes, no shame when that happens.

I never thought about fake parts like a counterfeit someone tries to pawn off like a Rolex watch that has a quarts movement and not a Swiss movement! or some of the expensive purses by Gucci but it's just a knockoff. I never thought about someone selling fake parts for cars that don't work! I thought people just sell generic brands for less and may not last as long because the materials they are made of are not quality and just don't last more than a year of less! Thanks for sharing this one, Dan! Because it just reinforces my conviction to buy quality parts and not the cheap versions that aren't much better than the fake ones; in fact, it just convinces me more that you are more likely to get counterfeit parts that don't even work if you don't stick to a known dealer!

good morning friend and colleague. I have been following you for quite some time and I really admire your excellent knowledge on diagnosis. I am George from Corinth, Greece, I am also an engineer, but an old one. We engineers of this generation are NOT that good with diagnoses. admiring so your knowledge, I take the courage to ask for any valuable help from you. has my son one Suzuki swift 2015 model with engine k12b. for about a month now he has been showing his signs esp.this only happens in the morning when he goes to work and when he stops for coffee at about 700 meters, when he starts again it does NOT come on anymore and will NOT come on all day long.in a diagnosis I made at the local dealership, we saw that there are NO errors recorded.they told me not to worry and that it is absolutely nothing in discussion with the chief engineer there, he advised me to change the battery. the old one was almost four years old.I replaced it with a new one Bosch .the problem unfortunately continues. its warning light esp it only comes on in the morning and as soon as you turn it off and start the engine it DOESN'T come on anymore. i know I tired you, but I tried to describe the whole problem to you in detail. There is nothing in the recorded faults, or the diagnosis, I repeat, was made in Suzuki of Corinth. I greet you, I admire you and I hope you are always well. It's a shame that such a distance separates us. Thank you for any help you can offer me. George Korinthos

The rememdiy I will suggest is plaenty of Castor Oil and abstaining from packing fudge for a month, if the impaction does not clear up on its own, a visit to outpatients will suffice, where a nurse will remove the impaction with a spoon. As a precaution Dan, you really must stop fantasizing about "Tools" that put a smile on your face, we really do not care about your personal preferenxes regarding big tools, long tools or fat tools, but if you keep going down this path, you will be suffereing from impaction again in no time at all.

I was a little surprised on the fix you used on the air suspension. Pneumatically it appeared to be designed for maximum reliability with the common exhaust valve. As all the other valves I bet would be the same style. That particular unit I noticed that you didn't depress the poppet that was in the coil. Chances are it was hung up on some debris preventing the coil from lifting the poppet and allowing the air to escape. A quick wash and more importantly a purge of the lines to ensure it was clear of debris would have been in order. All it would take is one or two grains of sand to hang that sort of valve. That valve unlike the others only passes air in one direction so it wont clean itself. Regardless always enjoy your channel, I hope it isn't to warm in Europe for ya. Cheers from Aus

Well Danny, the Audi was actually a piece of cake for you. The Volvo however, If you are holding shop in my part of the world it is a pretty common thing. A few years ago we didn't ask for specifics when clients brought a car but overtime we made it a habit of having a little chat and as soon as people sound too smart, in a good way, we ask them friendly if they have replaced any parts and from what shop. May sound a bit over the top but it has, in some cases, reduced the fault finding time. I am not bashing anybody but it is better to buy a known brand from a respectable shop than shop on the internet in virtual reality. It can save people a lot of money.

I have purchased OEM parts on line but from companies that source those parts such as Rockauto who give choices, OEM or aftermarket in most cases. Air suspension has been a maintenance item for decades. Shops best methods for advertising is to do repairs just like these were. Start from scratch and work your way in the elimination process to find the ONE item that is bad. Companies that make fake parts that don't work properly and suppliers that distribute them are simply crooks and should be put out of business. I have nothing against lesser quality and more affordable parts that are less reliable but ones that don't work as advertised or pretending to be of high quality or from reputable brands are simply shameless criminals with no honor. Thanks for sharing. 😉👌🏻

Love that Audi chassis D3. I own one 2005 W12! The top of the line. Just haven't had the time to mess with it. Black on black still don't know if the engine stills good. Because it was wrecked

The Solenoid valve has a iron/steel rod in the middle, as you can see in the video. That rod should be loose, yours was rusted stuck I believe. I had the same problem last year, mine was rusted, I was able to free it but found the spring inside it had rusted also and was broken. I cleaned everything well and found a spare spring that had the similar spring/pressure as the old one, and the valve is still working, close to a year now.

Hey Dan, I recently had to buy a new to me, but used Toyota Avensis and I've been slowly diagnosing and fixing parts for high cold start rpm:s and idle rpm:s that go up and down. Saw the Hella MAF and had to instantly go an check the code on my cars "Hella" MAF. No surprise there, it's also missing the last number compared to actual Hella part number. It wasn't really dirty since it had been changed, but I did clean the sensor with no noticeable difference. I've been using OEM parts while diagnosing this, but the car came with that Hella MAF. That's probably the next thing I'll change to original Denso part. I also noticed that the real Hella part is "compatible" with a huge array of cars from 1.4l - 90PS Yaris to 4.0l V6 - 280PS engines and that doesn't sound right either. Still need to change the inlet manifold gasket and clean the throttle body from the backside while I'm at it. The front is already clean and I've checked the hoses, changed the air filter & spark plugs and installed one missing air box clip. Thank you for the video, because I think this might be one step closer to fixing the idle issues :D

Very good work again!. in BMW world lot of problems with aftermarket MAF sensors, thats why i always say use only genuine MAF if you want to replace it.

Same thing happened to me with an oil level sensor, FEBI brand and bought from a respectable shop, now it's throwing low oil level but the engine has max oil on the dipstick. These days you cannot vouch for any shop or part, the mafia of fake parts is deeply rooted in all retailers. Good thing i have and older car with a dipstick, if it was without one, like the newer ones , I would have bee n scared, not run the car and tow it to a shop, spending a lot of money in the process. But seeing that oil level is fine, I will change this sensor at the next oil change, since the pan needs to go out.
