Faker Is Officially In The Hall of Fame

Faker is the first player to be inducted into the League of Legends Hall of Fame known as the Hall of Legends.
It may seem obvious - but why exactly has Faker been chosen? Why do some people think he shouldn’t have been picked first? And who can we expect to see next?

Faker being first is honestly in the best interest of every other player added to the Hall of Fame, if you didn't put him first, every year you would have people questioning the decision process, every year you would hear "why not faker?", there would be memes, there would be angry (twitter) arguments, and the whole time it wouldn't be about the person who was inducted. Also, I don't think anyone in good faith can argue someone has had more impact on the esport, hes in pretty much every cinematic for a reason, and his jersey sales numbers back that up too.

The thing about Faker is that his achievements are quite literally in a league of its own. The new Numbers video from LCK Global shows it. There isn’t anyone else in the world that even deserve to be inducted into the HoL alongside him. He absolutely has to be the first inductee. I think it’s perfectly fine to have multiple inductees next year onwards, but Faker truly does deserve to be the first and only inductee to open the doors to the Hall of Legends. “My era will never end.”

Disagreeing with Faker being the first inductee into a Hall of Fame that practically had his name etched into the walls upon the announcement of the Hall of Legends is an absurd suggestion to me. Like He's the goat Nobody disagrees Edit: "His career isn't over yet" is a bad argument for a few reasons. 1 - Let's be real with ourselves, nobody will likely ever contest his position or title as the goat. 2 - League is SUPER young compared to American Hall of Fame sports like Baseball or Basketball. If anyone has an issue with it being faker its a jealousy thing and thats whatever bore off. Faker is the objectively obvious #1 pick weather your a fan or not even people who dont like league know who he is and that causes a big shadow theres no one who can really hold that conversation all things considered. If we were to start a conversation over the #2 pick there will be 4 or 5 names who could be there for many reasons so naturally that could be the class of 25/26/27 etc This way everyone gets celebrated for what theyve done without the weight of being the first.

For those as per the video complaining and questioning Riots decision to make Faker the first inductee let me just say this, I have never played LoL nor do I know anything about the scene, I am quite literally an outsider, but even I have heard of Faker and his accomplishments. I think it speaks A LOT about where he stands within that game and that community. He is quite literally a living legend within the larger esport community and his contributions go beyond the LoL scene.

I get the point of only inducting Faker first cause it feels like other inductees are being ranked against him, the thing is that historically NOBODY ranks next to him, if the Basketball HOF started after Jordan's time, they would have 100% made sure that Jordan was the first inductee in a similar way to what Riot is doing for Faker, I do think it'd be cool several other legendary players to be added in classes like most HOFs do, but I just don't think League as a game is still relatively young to be doing it that way, so idk, if they add a class of 5 players a year in like 3-4 years the names getting nominated would start to be kinda sketch in comparison to the ones that were already inducted

The score esports should definitely create their own hall of fame for all of esports and run it like the mlb hall of fame with you get set number of years after your retire (or maybe turn 30) to be on the ballet and then accredited esports journalists are able to vote on who they think should get in and they’ll need 75% of journalists to believe that should be in. idk. Uzi never won any title except lpl. Bengi was named "the Jungle" and "gods right hand" . He was the best Jungler besides Diamondproxy. And for some time maybe the 2nd best player in the world. I would even rate Smeb (one of the best toplaner ever), InSec or even Mata (he changed 2014 the support playstyle) over Uzi. Uzi's legacy was always to lose against Faker, he was good, but he had never a chance to be on top. He didn't changed playstyles on his role, has no signiture moves or was the best in something besides playing Vayne. A great talent, but not the #2 or #3 on the HoF list. But we talk about Tencent. or should i say china. so maybe they will try to bring someone from china into it asap lol

The defining player for the past 10 years has been Faker so personally I do think that there should be 2 types of MVP slots, 1 that is given once every 10 year to the most prolific player of said 10 years and something that is yearly where there can be multiple inductions if riot/community sees fit.

Having a LoL HoF before Faker retires seems premature and inducting Faker before he retires is certainly premature. It comes across as a rush to set up a HoF. If they wanted to set it up now then induct a class of legends that aren't active pros like xPeke, InSec, SwordArt and Huni. If they want Faker to be the first then wait.

Faker goes first, and thats final. Having someone inducted while they are still active is not uncommon. Rey Mysterio is in the WWE HOF and is STILL wrestling. Theyll do a couple inductees next year and itll be fine. Also, theres ALWAYS HOF debates no matter the sport, so just be prepared for those.

League eSports is still young. There's not much history for them to have a list of S-class retired players. Lol epsorts is 13/14 years now and Faker is playing his 11th year. I think the whole disagreement is based on the fact that one major thing wasn't put in onto the qualifications, being retired. That's being done in every major sport, is a celebration of a career, and doing that while it's not over feels odd. It also takes away from all the things that can and should be done for the Goat once he's actually retired

I totally understand the argument that the player should retire first but there'd be a massive riot (pun intended) if Faker wasn't the first. I just hope his wrist injury doesn't force him to retire.

Lets be real, if Faker wasn't the 1st inductee, it would have been insulting. I think people don't understand just how big of an impact faker has had on the world as a pro league player. I also agree that they should definitely do classes of hall of fame after this induction, having faker as a solo inductee would still be fine, cuz lets be honest, faker is in a league all on his own with his accomplishments

Too many people, Score included, are treating this as a hall of fame. Ok fair, it's the closest thing as a point of comparison. But looking at how Riot is treating it, it is clearly anything but a hall of fame, between it's criteria and lack of a HoF class, which makes it easier to accept that Faker is an auto included as first inductee. Riot did not call it the League Hall of Fame, its the Hall of Legends, stop treating it as such.

obvious ones: xPeke (catchphrase and absolute EU mid legend(faker respected at a time)), Khan(Pro-League meta breaker and Top Icon), Keria (Best Support World(argued player world) and Icon), Caps(current face of EU) Contenders: Elk(Icon and model for adcs), Doublelift/Bjergsen(Long faces for NA LCS). Keep in mind this is off my head, but if I had to dig for your pro player of choice in the first place, they cant possibly be on hall of fame.

one season wonder might not be enough for him to be called legend, there are lots of other toplaners that beat his achivements and his season 5 skill

Marin in the LCK in S5 was not even the top 3 of the best in his position in any of the splits (Duke, Ssumday and Smeb fucked him every time they faced each other) MaRin was lucky to have 1 excellent month in the Worlds (And that the meta of that Worlds is completely focused on his line, making the jg and mid play practically for him) SKT with any of the other 3 players I mentioned would have won the world championship (What's more, 1 year later they won with one of them), Marin, for his part, would not have made KOO Tigers or KT win the world championship

I think the Hall of Legends should go beyond the players including coaches, shout casters, and people behind the scenes that had made LoL esports that it is today 🎉 All in on Faker though being the first, but a class would have been a great idea as well 👍

In the one game where everyone genuinely agrees that he is the GOAT through every generation, inducting Faker first and on his own shouldn't be viewed as problematic or even "oh so that means he's number 1 and the next player is just 2nd". Anyone who has a problem with that is just knit picking at that point. I think it would have been more problematic if Riot announced 5 Legends immediately because that opens up the "Oh why is he there but not so and so" conversation. Faker was the safest name to put up first. He is the face of League. Any of the other Hall of Legends to come after will be remembered as Legends regardless. Sheesh. Borderline wokeness of some.

Why does he need to be there right now? Dumb question. Because he is numer one. So he goes first. It would be a dishonor to do otherwise imo.
