@@jonadam5505 Guys like you just love to blame the female victims, as a way for you to express your rage that nobody wants to date you. Stop making everything about yourself. The world doesn't revolve around you. Try to be a better person and learn to empathize with others. For one thing, having your trust betrayed can happen to ANYONE. I bet you wouldn't make comments like this if it was a MAN who was killed by his partner or friend, right? You only like to blame dead women, probably you even get a kick out of it and listen to True Crime because you want to hear all about women getting killed by their partners. For another, many people are killed when they try to leave a toxic relationship, or when they reject somebody. I bet you're the kind of guy who'd call a woman a bitch for rejecting "nice guys" or slut-shame a woman who has an ex (especially if she has a child from an ex). So what, in your opinion, should women do about god-awful men? Should we just lock ourselves in the basement or hide out in the woods??? Should we learn telepathy in order to tell what men are thinking when they act nice to us??? And yet, if women were to take extra precautions or hide themselves, I bet you'd STILL get angry at women for daring to avoid you. That's because it's a YOU problem, not a women's problem, nor a men's problem. Also, you've already been a victim of manipulation and I bet you didn't even know it. Being exploited isn't exclusive to relationships. We get lied to and betrayed on a daily basis -- by toxic colleagues, bosses, employers, politicians, even friends and relatives. We get scammed by retailers and e-sellers constantly. You got scammed and betrayed already as a kid. We all have to go through this kind of shit, where somebody appears nice and acts like a friend, but then turns out to be a snake. These people are really good at hiding or justifying their red flags, making us feel bad about ourselves (as if we were the guilty ones), and manipulating us. They can do it in 5 minutes or over 5 years. And sometimes, these people are genuinely friendly until they have an evil epiphany and decide to do something horrible, like cheat, steal or even murder. Money and lust are particularly huge motivating factors. Hell, you could be one of those snake-like people yourself. Talking shit about women on the Internet, but in real life I bet you try to pretend you're a really nice and friendly guy and would do anything for a woman if she started dating you. You probably hide your physical imperfections from dates, lie about your financial situation, and exaggerate your hobbies and your friendliness in order to hook up with somebody.

As a student of psychology at the university of my arm-chair,.. i've noticed a specific personality type of the sociopathic sort (not the 'insult' variant, but actual psychological designation) who build their personality as if it were an avatar in a game, and hold on to it SO strongly that if anyone questions the authenticity, or is able to provide proof to the contrary, it triggers an overwhelming response of 'damage control' - Occasionally there is a 'perfect storm' of other personality facets that provide an impulse to do whatever it takes to stop people from thinking of you in a way that is not of your choosing. - Losing perceived control over how you believe you are illustrated is literally the most terrifying and offensive thing to these people and they need to regain whatever control they can, as quickly and permanently as possible. The idea of being a failure to his wife was SO offensive, it made more emotional sense in the moment to end her life than have her look at him like a liar, because then he'd have to admit to HIMSELF that he was one. - and that is NOT one of the traits of his avatar. I see SO many of these people on this channel, who are walking around the world completely unaware of themselves, who end up impulsively crossing that line almost unconsciously and end up in jail completely baffled as to how they suddenly became a monster.

@@lemonielala3080 yes, this exactly. Some folk remember trauma in excruciating detail, for others their mind protects them and sorta blanks it from memory. Regardless of whatever case, folk will always be suspicious of how our minds deal with trauma unless it’s something they’ve gone through themselves. Personally with my cPTSD (child abuse survivor) I remember some traumas in excruciating detail to the point I can remember smells and sounds, but for others they’re really hazy and I struggle to pinpoint any real details. Whatever case it is tho, folk will always be suspicious if someone remembers everything and then throw around terms like “sociopath” and “narcissist” (which are definitely real medical terms, but thrown around all too often which dilutes the severity), or will be suspicious if someone can’t remember anything. This comments isn’t an endorsement or support for any guilty party in this story, it’s just a general comment because I’ve seen the same trend within true crime communities. Folk forget how different people react in different ways, no two reactions are the same!

At this point there probably have been more people killing their spouse and saying it was a stranger breaking in than there have been actual cases of people killed by strangers randomly breaking into their home. People seem to widely overestimate the probability of that scenario. Edit: for the people who want the numbers: burglary-homicides make up 0,005% of all burglaries and less than 1% of homicides. You are far more at risk of getting killed by someone you know than by some stranger who broke into your house.

@AdrianCelsiusTepes Жыл бұрын
@@TheRoadhammer379 on average burglary-homicides represent around 0,005% of all burglaries in the US and less than 1% of all homicides. Let me put it this way, people overestimate the willingness of burglars to commit violence even though avoiding the owners is the safest and easiest option for them. That’s why most (around 70%) burglaries happen when the owners are not present. If they are, the burglar will most likely avoid confrontation if they are "caught" and flee. Violent victimization in a burglary represents less than 10% of all burglaries. If there is violence, it’s most likely simple assault and additionally, in around 65% percent of cases of violent victimization, the victim knows the offender. Furthermore, intruders do not carry weapons in most cases, as they do not come with the willingness to murder you, they come because they want to steal your stuff. Because of movies, tv shows and media in general, people have an inaccurate representation of criminals as some kind of unhinged person willing to commit any kind of crime. That’s not the case, burglars are, to put it simply "people with an illegal job". Just because someone is okay with stealing your tv doesn’t mean he has no problem straight up murdering you. So yeah, a burglary by a stranger resulting in the death of the house owner is not unlikely, it’s extremely unlikely. Sorry for the length of my answer, I felt like I might as well give you the numbers I know of instead of just answering "nu uh".

Yeah, you are right he behaved very calmly in the interrogation for someone who had supposedly just suffered the devastating loss of their wife to a murderer. Especially after how he'd been carrying on on the 911 call. I knew he was guilty as soon as I heard he'd been shot, but it turned out it was only in the leg, and not really too serious at all,( for a gunshot wound anyway) but his wife was shot in the head, and was dead, and of course it was his gun that they were shot with, big surprise 🚩and it was left behind, of course🙄. That is how pretty much all of these cases go. I am a bit surprised he hadn't just taken a life insurance policy out on her the week before too though. Maybe he thought that would be too obvious. He did get away with it longer than a lot of spouse murderers do.

This story really got to me. I was married to a man who nearly strangled me to death. Over not ordering a pizza for him when I never even knew he would be home. I could totally imagine him doing something like this, had I stayed. The fear in Heidi’s voice sent chills down my spine. I’m glad Rachel got away with her life. Would she have been killed when the money ran out? The kids, would they have been killed, too? I truly feel for the people left broken in the wake of this man’s lies. Heidi’s family and friends, their church family, and Rachel and their children. So many lives forever torn apart because of selfishness and greed. Shout out to Mike as always for his sparkling wit and sarcasm, incredible research and storytelling, all while respecting the victims and their loved ones. Truly the best true crime channel on YT. And hey, Mike, love the podcast (and I hate podcasts lol). Your method of storytelling is awesome. I wish you continued success in all your work!

Me too… I can’t believe I survived. I remember once I watched his pupils expand to such a degree while he was choking me, thumbs on my windpipe, teeth bared, that it looked like his entire iris was black. Later I read that predators eyes do that when they’re going to make a kill. Chilled me to the bone. I only got out bc I swallowed 100 Xanax, was found crawling down the road and taken to the hospital, and in the mental hospital they wouldn’t let him contact me. He had thrown me out the door after I ate the pills…. But that hospital stay was long enough to gain some clarity…. And more trauma from the hospital experience lol But it can’t all be wins 😅 Got in another relationship after that and the dude almost killed me in a rage, trying to smother me. So stupid…. I finally learned some self worth and got out of that pattern permanently. Glad you also made it out. It’s terrifying how easy it is to take a life and how often it happens.

I am astounded at how a man could lay hands on a women as such. I may be a foolish man with many imperfections; and single. However, in my past relationships I had even forgiven their cheating, leaving me etc...my love for my women was always true. I can say that for sure. I always wanted them to be happy, even if it wasn't with me.

I know there’s a method to the 911 dispatchers, but the amount of these calls I hear on true crime thingies they just really infuriate me 😂 i once witnessed a man collapse in a park, hitting the back of his head on a tree 🌲 (he wasn’t drunk or anything just was walking and collapsed) I ran whilst phoning 999 (northern Ireland) his head took a big hit and was pumping blood 🩸 the most infuriating thing in trying to get an ambulance asap was the operator. She totally hindered me trying to help stop the blood flow, check his breathing ect. I kept my cool thank god but it was made really hard to help because of her. Turned out he had a stroke but could have died had no one seen him fall hitting his head, he would have appeared drunk. And probably no one would have had thought to phone for help as he was laying on his back and the blood was back of the head. I’m also aware that in some circumstances the call can prove the person calling is the bad person so I know they’re doing the job they’re trained to do, but I feel sometimes lives are at risk due to easy going annoying operators, apologies for when these calls actually catch perpetrators

@@HaileyDelaine It just kept getting worse and worse until there was really no choice but to leave. He was a selfish, liar, and a violent, bully. He did not share any info about his finances or anything like the guy in the video but we never bought a house together and I always kept my accounts separate so I wasn't dependent on him towards the end anyway. It's good that it ended when it did. Luckily I knew what kind of person he was and did not have any illusions about our relationship. The woman heidi in this video it seems like she had no idea what type of a guy she was married to, I think he did a good job keeping it a secret unfortunately, and if she did she would've at least had the chance to leave him too. just to let you know Mike, “Minnehaha” is a Dakota word for “waterfall”. many think it’s “funny waters” because minne (mní) = water, and “haha” is mistakenly thought to mean “funny”, but it actually translates to “tumbling water” or “waterfall”. it was a good segue into the inciting incident, but a little fyi never hurt anyone. lol. I was surprised when you said there was no life insurance. Crazy that he killed her and then shot himself just to try and keep the eviction from going public, and then it went public anyways. Wow. That makes him an even worse person since there wasn't even money to be gained. I just assumed he killed his wife so he could collect her life insurance and then pay what was owed on the house.

I bought a house recently around the same price range of Nick and Heidi’s house. I don’t think with two incomes at least it would be THAT HARD to pay the mortgage on time. He mismanaged money so bad and felt so self conscious he needed to hide his debts and take his wife’s life that’s sad
