True the slipstream caused some trouble but the main fact that it didn't go faster is that it adopted a "catch" posture with requires being approx at the same speed of its prey, if the guy popped some sort of object miming a live prey the falcon would have adopted a "dive to kill" posture, it'd have gone higher for a moment in order to learn the movement pattern of its prey then right after would've dived at 160-180mph on it for that one deadly slash

Insane yes it can strangely enough.... ospreys who catch very large fish can struggle to rise back out of the water with such weight, once their talons are imbedded they can't really let go and many drown....

It was probably the foreshortening effect of the camera, but I twitched a little seeing the quadcopter flying what seemed pretty close behind the bird. I think the bird would have come off much worse should they have collided.

Anyone that has driven a motorcycle next to an 18 wheeler before can tell you that the disruption factor is way worse than any suction power when you don't have 4 wheels on the ground! It might help, but I wouldn't be surprized if it caused the opposite as well

Doesn't it require air to fly anyways, its wings pushes air back to move forward. So less air would make it easier to move the wings through the air but that would mean it slows down. I'm only guessing BTW.

you have about 3 times too many cuts in that video, scenes change so fast there is almost no context to define what's going on. much clickbait, little useful info or sweet visuals of the bird. I would have enjoyed seeing more of it's beauty and it's flight skills. most cuts were so fast my eyes didn't have enough time to focus on anything

Swifts reached about 70km/h in level flight (is high for their sizes). The 58mph = 93km/h of the Gyrfalcon are obtained with the falcon flying on the WAKE of the car. The true speed of the Gyrfalcon is between 80 and 90km/h. STOOPs The highest speeds recorded by track radar was 197km/h in small passerines (when reach land, ending migration) and the 184km/h for a Peregrine falcon. Modern accurate methods obtain maximal speeds of very near 200km/h after years measuring stoop speeds in Sky trials (falconry). An "ideal bird" (that is a rigid body with the shape of a pigeon, falcon, eagle, passerine or any other aerodynamic bird) reached about 500km/h for 1kg, and about 200km/h for 20g. But the the birds have feathers; and the smoother they are, the less is the top stoop speed. For ex. for a Buteo buteo, the stoop speed for a rigid body with the same weight, shape and size is about 400km/h, but their feathers are so smooth/unstable that its top stoop speed is about 70km/h.

Terminal velocity wouldn't be that high for a bird so it still has some crazy flight skill to reach those speeds. don't believe everything you read on the internet. Gyrfalcon or Peregrine are faster than any kind of swift in level flight, and there is no bird in the world that can fly at 100 mph without wind assistance. You have numerous examples of Peregrine and Orange-breasted falcon feeding on white throated needltail and outflying them in level flight without any problems.
