@@Izzythedestryr there is no dream matchup for Atlanta’s defense. Every other team’s offense, in fact, dreams of playing the soft ass Atlanta falcons’s defense.

I've been pointing out the issues with the defense in spite of results when it wasn't fashionable in week 1. That being said, there's two points I think this fanbase is missing. One continuous one every year, is that every team is going to be bad at something, what matters is how you hide it. The Chiefs have been near the bottom of the league in offensive explosive plays in the last 2 superbowl win years. The other that never gets brought up in relation is COMPLIMENTARY FOOTBALL. What is the game script for your team to win and how do all 3 phases compliment each other. This means not looking at each phase in its own box, but rather how each phase can emphasis strengths and hide weaknesses of each other. When it comes to the Falcons defense, there are some areas of improvement that are realistically attainable to make them better: 1.) Prolong offensive drives, particularly with the run game. The run game for the Falcons is average by most metrics, namely attempts. Control the clock, end drives in scores, and this helps the Falcons defense. The opposition running the ball becomes less of an option, and playcalling becomes easier because the opposing offense becomes more predictable. The 49ers have done this for years now. 2.) Put more emphasis in practice on redzone defense. The chances the Falcons become great at limiting yards is unlikely. But if they're going to, the best they can hope for is to not allow touchdowns in the redzone. 3.) Become more aggressive on special teams in seeking to block punts rather than conservatively retain field position. Getting offensive scores on short fields is a highly underrated part of winning. For the Falcons right now, it's overly reliant on turnovers. Add to that the formula by looking to get the ball on a short field through special teams to boost comfort in the point differential. Game script is a thing, but when we look at each phase separately instead of how it all works together to produce the win, we're missing key points. Side note, part of the problem with the pass rush is they're creating 1-on-1s when no one's winning. What they to do is to manipulate pass protections to create 2-on1s or free runners. The best pass rushing teams, whether they have A GUY or not, all do this regularly. In a league where so much of offense lives on quick game, screens, etc, a lot of times you don't have time to wait for a guy to win 1-on-1 and you just need a free runner. That plus the coverage is not good enough in the pass rush formula, two aspects that could help the pass rush very quickly.

@@joeschmo5782 this team is bad at something every year. Last year it was the offense. This year it’s the defense. Rinse and repeat. Atlanta sports

@@Brownishcows10 Like I said, every team in the league is bad at something, that's the nature of the NFL in a salary cap and free agency era. It comes down to how you play on your strengths and hide your weaknesses.

@@joeschmo5782 well we’re not doing a very good job at hiding our weaknesses. Offenses continue to exploit our defense every drive. They kill clock and still punch it into the end zone every time. Jimmy lake needs to be fired but still isn’t

Let's get pressure on Dak I hope Troy comes back. Secondary is stout. The offensive is stout. Pitts , Robinson, and Drake will have a big day.

If the Falcons are not able to stop the Cowboy's "rungame" then there is no hope for J.Lake as a DC... At this point i am not even interested in Pressures and Sacks, all i want to see is how the defense takes away one aspect of the game. Lake failed at this task mightly

@@MrArdhes they won’t stop either the cowboys run or pass game. The Cowboys will score at will and kill clock too. Falcons play soft Ass zone.

@Brownishcows10 no, they won't. The cowboys will score 17 at most. Their line is weak and our secondary is our defensive strength. The cowboys pass at a ridiculous rate. This could be a trap game but i think the real trap game is NOLA next wk.
