Hey Viv, first off, so glad to see you again. I was starting to want to see you again and you read my mind. Your videos are always so inspiring! I am an oldster... 67 to be exact. I have noticed in several videos that you are beginning to get self conscious about your upper arms, and I want to encourage you to try to accept it. The hand of time brings both wisdom and saggy upper arms... hahaha. I now don't go to important events in sleeveless garments (for their sake, not mine), but you better believe I wear sleeveless at home... or when picking up groceries and such. You have had your youth, and now you are easing toward the other end of the spectrum, and there will be other insults to vanity as well. Don't let those changes gradually take the fun out of life!

Aww thanks Lantanana! I will go down swinging, I’m afraid. I took a looooong time off from exercise and boy! You can’t turn your back on these aging bods for 5 minutes! It’s like all the fat cells shout, “Party!!”😭So I’m back to huffing and puffing through my workouts. It feels good. I would like to be over any vanity issues - whoa, those seem to be hardwired in modern culture. We live in a youth-worshipping society and yet age brings a lot of freedom. I hope to stop caring so much one of these days, but I hope to never give up exercise!😃

I shop vicariously through you as there is no Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann's, or Michaels where I live. I think I told you before how I took a pattern making course at a local design school years ago and design, draft patterns, and sew my own garments. If there were shops to purchase commercial patterns, I would definitely buy some, but it's not going to happen, so I am happy to enjoy your shopping sprees! I adore your videos because you are REAL! Hey, Viv! I’m slowly getting back into sewing. Finished a top recently that I started last winter! YOU are the gal that’s inspiring me and keeping me on the sewing path. I can’t spend the time I would like sewing, but I’m preparing for the time when life isn’t so busy by stocking up on patterns. Mutton sleeves!!!!! I made a purple dress in the early 70s with mutton sleeves all the way up to the elbow with lots and lots of covered buttons!!!! Oh the 70s!!! Thanks for the peek at the fall patterns. I am going to the website and pop one of the sweater patterns in my basket and then wait for a sale. We can't get Simplicity in Canada anymore - at least where I live, and they are horribly expensive on line even in a sale. However, last winter I made a bunch of sweaters from knit sweater fabric in a variety of styles and they came out beautifully. Who knew I could make my own sweater? Well I can. lol That summer top - you have more patience that I do VIV - that pattern would be dropped in the donation bin right after reading the instructions if it lived in my pattern stash. Summer sewing - I have been a dismal failure. Spending a couple of hours every day on one of the 5 rustic beaches in and around my town instead - collecting shells, gazing into the horizon, watching the dogs, listening to the laping water. Frankly I am just too relaxed and in my happy place to sew. The weather has been perfect - always between 70-83 degrees. I guess I won't get my MoJo back until we get some rainy days. Always enjoy your videos. Now jump in your car and go to the August 8th sale.

I went to Hobby Lobby twice this week for their patterns. I went today & it was 103 out! I love the patterns you selected for yourself and can see that you have an innate sense of your own style and what looks attractive on you. Not everybody has that! I love those hacking patterns, christine! Some folks feel they’re ridiculous, that EVERY pattern is a “hacking pattern,” but I disagree. It’s funny, I’ve never used the grid sheet and was perplexed about it. I just balled it up for the cats to play with, lol. Wow. They're just churning those collections out! I feel like none of them look overly innovative? Granted most of my patterns are from the 80s but I swear I have most of those already. I've been trying to just buy based on the shapes. That pattern art will get you! As for lined little tops with zips, I've been working on one off and on for two months and I don't particularly like it. The more I look at it the less I like it lol. I think yours will be cute when you finish it based on the fact that I like most of your makes though. Thanks for the great video Viv! 🙂

Hey Viv, in regards to sewing, sometimes you just have to do a executive decision and file it in the round file drawer/trash. Consider it a learning experience. Although when I went to nursing school if the teacher said it will be a good learning experience you knew it was going to suck big time!!! Enjoy your videos so much. I know you are hot and humid back there. Here in Fresno, CA it is around 100 everyday but it is not humid. Still sucks. Stay cool!
