For sure the Scout, make the necktie too and make sure one of the flowers ends up on the front when tied. I lean towards the Simplicity sweatshirt but I think you really want the other. I have a hint for the type of shirt you want to upcycle. Pay close attention to the seams at the bust line. For some reason reconstructed seams on jersey knit can be really uncomfortable if they are close to the underarms. At the same time you want to avoid any seams that land directly on your bust for a couple reasons, lol. The plaid pants will be very cool in that pattern. I don't wear a shirt that short but it's a cute one as well as the pants. I almost got that same book but decided the styles are too conservative for me....not to mention time consuming. After 60 years of sewing fly fronts, zippers, complex pockets, and bound buttonholes, I'm all about simple shapes to show off nicer fabrics and save time. I get wanting a challenge, though, keeps you building skills and learning new techniques which is always a good thing

thanks Charlotte I appreciate the tips on the thrifted shirt. I totally would not have thought about the seams at the underarms. I love that tie with the scout! I will definitely make sure my flower placement is good for that. The Mimi G shirt is really cute but too short for me too!!

Mood! I love them and went to the NY store last year! My nirvana! I got some lovely fabrics and met some amazing sewists while in the store that were sharing their project ideas. The grey fabric is a great choice, in color and drape for that pattern. Can’t wait to see how the pattern works up. When you held the fabric up, with the pink, you absolutely shine! That is your color! I keep editing! Scout! And as another commenter mentioned, work that flower to the advantage in the tie! The sweatshirt pattern may depend on what pants you have to wear with? I like the all! That’s how I get stuck!

What else? Oh the gingham/embroidered fabric, my vote is the Scout shirt/dress. I've been eyeing that pattern myself. The sweatshirt, I'd go for not the Closet Core one, the other one. I liked that the long sleeved men's version seemed to have a split at the elbow but even if you don't do that (or if I imagined that) I really like the idea of layering the suggly, short sleeved version over a long sleeved top. 🎉🎉🎉🎉 See you again soon!

the reason I bought that simplicity sweat shirt pattern is because I thought it would be so cute layered over a long sleeved t-shirt! but I do think that split sleeve is cool ( you didn't imagine it 😂)

Fun stuff!!! Your choices are so cool----the shirt with sleeve detail is great. You seem spot-on about using a clean lined pattern with more feminine fabrics. I lean toward the scout top with the embroidered gingham fabric (& wow, that's really pretty)

I’m just about to make the Scout. I want to make it long sleeved for Winter, so need to think about using another pattern to use as a template (thinking about Closet Core ‘Kalle’ extension). Love to see your Scout in that fabulous fabric.

For the Winterfell skirt, wonder how it would look with the top part cut on the bias and the bottom cut on grain? Would that be too busy? Maybe put a black cording to separate the two sections. Love that green plaid. Congratulations on 5000+ subscribers. Am a big fan of your channel.

Always interested to see what you are making each season..I’m finding it hard feel inspired this autumn (fall) … I’m wondering about the Fibre Mood GIZEH TROUSERS….. in UK we have something called “the knitting and stitching show “, which will be in London at Alexandra Palace, next month, showcasing fabrics to buy , independent pattern makers , sewing equipment , textile art etc. and ideas for sewing and knitting …so I’m hoping for some inspiration ! My favourite make for the summer was the Vivek Shao Chen Nephelene Blouse. I made three!

Congrats 🎉 I say the Scout coz I've just finished a dress version in a Ruby star print. The book looks good, but is comparatively expensive so haven't bought. Look forward to hearing your feedback on the instructions! I've made 3 versions of the mile end and sized down ( but still nicely oversized. Love the darts on the 2 piece sleeve. 😊

Congratulations, Gini! I love your channel; I’m always learning something new from you. Everyone is planning fall🤣 I haven’t caught that bug yet. I think I jumped to winter;at least with knitting. All I can think about is Christmas gifts and trying to work out something I saw on Pinterest😊 I do need a new winter coat. I’d love to do wool with some leather features. I’ve been to two fabric stores and only one gave me any fall/winter inspiration. I love all your ideas! I like Merchant and Mills shirt! I’ve got this pattern from my mother’s stash of a sweat shirt I want to make. I need sweatshirt fleece though! Know any good sources for this fabric? Id like to color block like a print with a solid.

Thanks Cheryl. I'm way into winter for knitting as well. And I should get busy or I won't have any of my projects done for Christmas. I like the idea of a wool coat with leather features. As far as sweatshirt fleece goes I really haven't found a good source. I usually go with Stone Mountain and daughter but their stuff is mostly basic/solids. I don't think you're going to like a gathered sweatshirt. It's going to add a lot of bulk and it ends at a bad place. I've got one that's gathered mid thigh and you can wear it as a tunic a lot more easily. Big leg pants are a really good way to fall down on the stairs especially with a cuff you can hook your shoe into. I hated the skinny jeans but I hate this more.
