My goal with the video is to cover the major aspects of fall lawn care on warm season grasses, specifically Zoysia grass pre-emergent.

If you are putting out max yearly rates of prodiamine try 3 apps a year. Feb. May and September. Same amount of A.I. per 1000. but less harsh on roots. Love your videos!

You definitely could!

I applied prodiamine on August, my zoysia was seeded on March. I didn't notice any difference other than less weeds popping. Obviously I wouldn't recommend that, but I was tired of weeds popping all the time.

I think 5 months is plenty of time for establishment

Justin what are your thoughts on overseeding Zoysia with an annual Ryegrass? Is it something you recommend and do you plan to do it with your yard?

I’ve never done it and don’t plan to. I like the break during the winter months. Everyone says don’t do it. You’d be better off painting it.

Good Morning! What are your Zoysia cutting heights for this fall and for winter dormancy? In Maryland with temps in high 60s-low 70's, and I've been keeping my Zoysia at 1 3/4 currently and throughout the whole growing season. Was planning on keeping it the same for winter. Thank you in advance for your replies!

I don’t change my hoc from summer to winter. Mine is currently 2-2.5” but I’ve had it at 1” during winter in the past. I didn’t see any difference the following spring in my climate but you get colder than I do. It may be something you’ll have to experiment with to see how it handles your winters.

Justin, what is the name/model of the spreader you were using for putting out your preemergent? It appears it can be used for granular and liquid delivery. Thanks.

It’s a permagreen magnum.

Really torn between Zeon and Zenith zoysia for my new yard. It will be sod. What length are you cutting your zenith at, 1.5 inch? Do you use a striper kit on your zero turn or does it do it naturally?
@ZoysiaRUs2 жыл бұрын
I would go with a fine blade cultivar over Zenith if I was going the sod route. I chose Zenith only because I used seed. I’ve been cutting it between 1-2.5” since I planted it. It varies year to year. I have a deck with a heavy roller on it that helps get the definite stripes.
