1 app took care of it in this instance, but I’ve have other times where it took multiple apps. Just depends on the disease pressure at the time. I also don’t apply preventatively.

This video demonstrates replacing the Igniter Coils, Spark Plugs, and Igniter Box on a Ventrac 4500Z. This was due to a loss of power in cylinder #1. Prior to the parts replacement, I checked the most common issues. I changed air filters and fuel filters, drained the fuel tank and flushed with carburetor cleaner, and cleaned the fuel pickup tube.

Yea I definitely screwed up. We had weeks of drought here and I failed to properly water the lawn as I’ve seen it get a little stressed and recover quick after a little rain. Well this time it went pretty much all fully dormant after coming back from a vacation… struggling to get it to green back up now
@ZoysiaRUs

It’s tough to get it back without the aid of rain unless you have some serious irrigation. It’s best to keep up with regular irrigation during a drought if possible. It requires a lot of water when it’s 90+ and no rain for weeks, which a lot of people can’t do.

You can sod anytime. The best seeding window is mid May through the beginning of July. Much later than mid July will likely result in a pretty thin yard going into winter. It’s doable but not ideal.

Bermuda would have grown in half the time or even less compared to the Zoysia. However, if you can succeed with Zoysia then kudos to you! I love my Bermuda, but Zoysia is king in my opinion. Very lush, shade tolerant, and can be mowed low.

uh oh... this has me worried. I put down 6lbs of Zenith Zoysia about 38 days ago, following your process basically and setting up ample smart sprinkler programs, also with plenty of rain and soil contact, fertilized, plenty of sun, but I barely see anything sprouting besides some thin annual rye I mixed in to prevent erosion and get roots in the ground. I have replaced the front/rear connector link as you have nicely demonstrated in this video number of years ago and this year I am noticing the same 'play' in my linkage as I did years ago and am contemplating its replacement. My question is what are your thoughts on replacing the center main pivot (42.0553)? It also seems to be a key player in the pivot function.

I bought a couple of bags of Zenith seed from Super Sod. I bought a couple of painters nets and put the seeds in the nets and tied them. I dropped both painters net bags with the seeds in a 5 gallon bucket of water for at least 24 hours then I took them out. I Scarified my lawn then put topsoil down and raked it thin. Then I took the moist seeds and tossed them across the topsoil. I then raked the seeds into the topsoil leaving a thin layer of topsoil and seeds. Since then I’ve just been watering and letting the rain do the rest. My seeds were growing grass in less than 2 weeks. Hope this helps.

1 I’d put a tee instead of elbow on the last valve for possible future valve or drain. 2 Space them further apart. Sometimes the male adapter on the inlet side will leak and you’ve left no room to fix it. If you’re not going to leave enough pvc to cut and glue a new piece on you should use unions. I fix these things daily and it’s nice when previous installers realize pieces fail and leave an avenue to fix it.

I don’t water as much as most people. Sometimes I let it go 2 weeks without rain in the summer. But most would recommend 1” total, 2 days/week @ 0.5”/watering. I think the higher you cut it the less you have to water it.

You can water 3x/week but yes disease pressure will be higher. First off I’d measure your water with cans to see how much water you’re actually putting out. There’s a chance it’s a lot less than you think. Second, I would make sure the water is actually soaking in vs running off. A good aeration goes a long way.

@ZoysiaRUs
@ZoysiaRUs 2 ай бұрын
It actually shows you how to save money. Couplings are a way to change out a valve body. But in reality the valve body rarely/never fails. The solenoid is the only failure point and can be changed out in place with a screwdriver. Just because you’ve seen people use them doesn’t mean it’s the only way. People waste so much money on crap, including myself, because of information like that. I’m no irrigation guy but I do have some common sense.

Welcome back...I've really gotten a lot from your channel in renovating my own yard. Question, I'm up in Wake Forest, NC and I'm planning to sand level some low areas next week. These spots hold water and my Zenith is really sparse in these areas coming out of the winter (they were thick and healthy when it went into dormancy). Some spots will be no more than a half inch of sand, while others will be closer to 1.5". In your experience, what is the timeframe and success rate for deeper leveling to grow in and thicken up? We're now seeing 70's and 80's pretty much every day.
@ZoysiaRUs
@ZoysiaRUs 2 ай бұрын
Glad to hear the channel has helped out! I like to sand level when it’s growing in its prime. So mowing 2-3x/week. You can sand now but the recovery will be slower. Same deal with deeper areas. I don’t have any doubt that zoysia will grow through 1” of sand. You just run the risk of sand washing away during heavy rains while it’s trying to grow through. Best to do the deeper areas half way and once that recovers then do the whole area again to get it leveled. Thats how I would treat a settled irrigation trench, which I have several that need to be fixed this summer.
