Nice video! I Love muskies, I lost a potential 50 a few days ago in PA, still slightly depressed over it. Came unglued right at the boat right as the net was hitting the water.

Rod Belding Oh man, that hurts! I feel your pain, my first shot at a 50, same thing happened. That was up at leech lake in MN. Funny part of the story, we are back at the lodge that night grabbing some dinner. The jukebox is broken and stuck on repeat and the only thing it’s playing is the old Eagles song “Heartache Tonight”. Every time I hear that song I remember that trip. Don’t fret my friend, there will be more and bigger Muskies that make it in the net. The very next year after I pooched my first 50, we landed 3 Muskies over 50. Again sorry to hear about the big girl shaking off before the net, but thank you for sharing the story and commenting. We appreciate it!

Great video! Thanks for all that you do! I'm from Lake Zurich, IL so it's pretty sweet to see something fairly local. Did you go to the musky tournament in Wisconsin earlier this month?
@tonysspotonfishing7 жыл бұрын
Atarox No I didn’t fish that tourney this year. Next year we are going to be filming more up on the Fox Chain and Southern WI waters (Silver, Geneva, Pewaukee, Madison Chain). Also looking to film the Indiana Muskie lakes as well. Definitely going to try to broaden Spot On Fishing’s foot print next year. Thanks for watching and thank you for the comment! We sure do appreciate it!

you should also take the clicker off then a fish grabs because the fish can feel the clicker and drop the minnow
@tonysspotonfishing7 жыл бұрын
Billy Fischer Some of the older reels I’ve had from back in the day have had issues where the clicker may stick or remain snug. Those new Lexa‘s are unbelievable! We were able to engage the clicker and never had an issue. While in free spool and completely backed off the suckers can pull the clicker. I was a die hard Shimano guy for about 30 years, but over these last few years I have been switching everything over to Daiwa! And by no means do we have a sponsorship with any reel company. That’s speaking truth of 30 plus years in and around this business.

you should try a 3 hook rig so you can set quicker. limits the mortality rate and it wont kill the sucker in the cold water

Billy Fischer When sucker fishing deeper water, where the Muskie/Sucker can not be seen, I am all for running an additional hook. Like Pewaukee Lake for example, it’s not uncommon for us to set the sucker down 9-15 feet or even more. In shallower water such as in this show, those suckers were no more then 1 to 2 feet down. In the clearer shallower water we do need some degree of stealth to our presentation. Adding additional hooks on a smaller sucker while fishing heavily pressured water can greatly reduce your chances of a Muskie picking up the sucker. We are able to see the sucker in the Muskies mouth (with the exception of that last fish that we did not put a hook in) and once we see that the hook is in his mouth we are able to set that hook and break the sucker free and hook the Muskie in the mouth. No issues of risking injury to the Muskie. Larger suckers that can handle the bigger rigs, absolutely agree with you. Adding a second hook makes a HUGE difference. Just not here in the presentations shown in this show with a downsized presentation on highly pressured waters. Very good call out though and something all Muskie fishermen need to keep in mind! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!

Spot on Fishing love your vids tony got me interested in catching a Muskie .. is suckers a good bait for them at the fox ?
@tonysspotonfishing7 жыл бұрын
Chicago Fishing It should be. There are suckers in the river so they are used to eating them. They also feed heavily on Shad. I’ve always seemed to have done better on Gliding style jerkbaits and twitching Minnow baits in the fall out there. But it’s never a bad idea to run suckers especially this time of year.

Andrew Porter Awesome! Make sure you have your permits from ILDNR. Anytime you advertise an event as a tournament or contest you have to register it with the DNR. Totally free to do. But if you’re caught without it, the fines are pretty steep. Blue Brian Michaels Entertainment, the producers of Spot On Fishing, are working with a charity organization on a tournament for Oct of 2018. Anytime you create an event were money is on the line or any prize of any kind, with more then 1 angler involved, you have to have it. Just wanted to give you a heads up. By no means are we trying to insult anyone, just don’t want to see one of our viewers in a bad situation. We’ve heard of a few small tourneys lately were the DNR has busted the director.
