On this last day of the trip I head from camp on Siderock lake to Wallace Lake via a 1.5km portage. It was a memorable day and the trip couldn't have ended any better as I was rewarded with a grouse and much needed delicious shore lunch!!
Thanks for watching, subscribe and stay tuned for videos from my 2022 adventures!

Great ending to an epic trip. This was a huge undertaking in both the video editing and the trip itself with all the extra gear. Thanks for sharing! Would love to see you do something similar using a fishing kayak like a Pelican 120 to highhlight the pros and cons of Canoeing vs Kayaking during a serious trip like this. Might draw in some younger veiwers as well. Whatever your next adventure I cant wait to watch. Safe tarvels.

Thanks for watching! I did contemplate getting a fishing kayak before my solo canoe, but didn’t read good things about portaging one. I am sure there are light weight versions that would help, but then the amount of gear also shrinks. Agree though, it would be neat to see a trip like this with a kayak. Maybe one day…

Thank you for sharing. I have enjoyed the series. I have been considering this access, but never knew how the portages might be. Now I know, thanks again

Thanks for watching and sticking with the series! Hope to get better and shorten the videos a bit, but main goal was to get some visuals for those that want to venture out. Cheers! Mike

Great stuff-I've paddled WCPP from the east, entering from Leano lake then through Paull, Wrist, Glenn, Mexican Hat, and back to the entry over 10-12 days. Haven't done this side, and your videos give a sense of the route. My biggest concern was the forest fires. Paddling in a burn isn't always fun - since it can be desolate and there's a lack of shade. Good route, please post more in this area of Manitoba! Have you paddled the experimental lakes Dryberry, Teggau, Manitou, Porcus, Hillock? That area's also awesome.

It’s on my list to paddle from the east into Manitoba, eventually want to take the bloodvein to lake Winnipeg, Which would be a big trip! Haven’t paddled the experimental lakes area, have heard good things though- another item on my growing to do list! Hope to get into woodland again this year, venturing further east. Thanks for watching my vids, really appreciate it!

Really great trip it was nice to see it well documented. I just came back from a rabbit river trip and the walleyes were still biting at your campsite lucky number 7. I camped on the cole island site cause the mosquitoes were thick! Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. Take care

Thanks! Must have been good water flow on the Rabbit, some rapids at the portages? Glad to hear the fishing was good there, definitely going to fish there again! Good call on the island site, hope there was a breeze!

@@ManitobanOutdoors yea some good current in the narrow creeks. Was able to line the canoe down 1 set of rapids which was a nice treat. Yea island site was great with a breeze but still there were bugs but at least it was tolerable. The road was worse than normal as a lot of it was washout and draining across the roads made for slow travel but we saw a moose and calf which was fun. There was a waterline across half the parking lot so it must have been really high at one point. I’d say it’s currently about a foot higher than normal levels so not bad.

Sorry this is off topic but I just read your blog post of Rabbit River - Cole Lake. Given you've done it many times I wonder if you could tell me if low water level should be expected at this time of year? I'm thinking of doing the route solo next weekend in my kayak. It has a rudder so I am a little concerned re water level!

It’s different every year and haven’t been down this year. From what I hear water level is good, with the usually pull overs in a couple spots. If you are on Facebook, I recommend joining the Manitoba Canoeists group as there is recent updates there.

From one of the posts yesterday: water levels were great. Iv only done this route once, last year. And last year there was hardly any water in the river at all and had to slog the canoe 1/2 way. This was much better.

From 5 days ago: Just got back today from there. Water level is good. Comparable to the last time I was out third week of June 2021. Nothing significant in terms of beaver dams or fallen trees simple to pull/paddle over.
