It's legitimately sad the lack of empathy people have for children (and people in general) online. When I was younger I made a Tumblr account solely so I could talk about my favorite fictional character. I made friends and got a bit of a following. I also got a ton of harassment. I'd post an innocent headcanon of a character and people would argue and fight with me about it. My internet presence devolved into people constantly getting mad at me for harmless things, me saying stupid things from time to time, and having to make apologies over nothing. I eventually had to leave my account entirely because it was too stressful, and now that fandom has one less contributer and I have bad memories associated with the fandom. I love making analyses of my favorite characters, but not at the expense of my mental health.

There was a noticeable shift around the late 2000 even on 4chan, people are becoming more angry and trying to enforce their (often left leaning) values upon others. Whenever I talk to someone online in niche places, it's like I am talking to a massive hive-mind of people pleasers and "failed normies". There are some things I can relate to Francis here. I have done some bad stuff and sometimes didn't learn from my mistakes. I have gotten into drama with people in the past. And I have had detractors make fake shit on me before.
