That is a fine Fallkniven sheath knife you have there my friend. When I finally get back to paid employment I will be sampling this brand. 👍

The blade is amazing, but the handle is beautiful but not especially ergonomic.

Funny you mentioned the DBK boys. I bought pone of these after seeing them use it on their channel. I put it through it's paces on a rather large hog. Skinned her up with little effort and brought back hair poppin sharp after a few strokes on a strop with green compound. A fine steel for sure.

I really put my embla through very tough testing. Batoning through and cut into pieces 21 rabbits carcasses to process for eating. In the end the edge was micro chipped to hell but it did sharpen back up. No safe queens for me.

I tested it vs buck 119 and it held up well batoning through rabbit carcasses. The cold steel master hunter did really well too..super sharp and has good geometry to get into the rabbit hind leg, between leg meat and skin.

Blood grooves, yes now both you and Williams Knife Life call that a blood groove. Much more interesting name than weight watcher groove. The Embla is elegant indeed. Thank you. Thumbs up!

No gimmicks or fancy blade grinds, just really nice design and quality. The blade shape is close to perfect for a general purpose field knife in my opinion and the cobalt makes it extremely resistant to salt water as well as high hardness, Gizmo's comment is exactly right. Interesting that you aged the survival knife, I find I like to age most knives that come my way, I love the pocket worn effect on folders. Really nice to see the Embla.

The problem with that survival knife is they it arrived with a totally dry leather handle, with all hard edges and the sheath isn’t much better. The blade was at best semi-sharp and looked like black coating had been painted with a brush! A little boot polish, some wet and dry, and a lot of sharpening, made it look a lot better!

@@slick_slicers Hmm. Strange, maybe a QC problem then or a problem with the dealer where you bought it.

Youths use knives! Sometmes their use stretches the intended limits of the knife. When you think about it, When we were kids we were doing abuse tests long before they became popular on You Tube. The difference is, we were just showing off our knives to our friends! That "Budget Junk" (american tanto) looked very much like something Cold Steel would make. I really like those tube style sheaths. The knife itself is beautiful. The handles looks gorgeous. Like the laminated blade. I'd say it is an all purpose camp knife. You could use it for bushcrafting in an emergency or if you suffer from Tsekoupiphobia. To me, its a simple, quality made no nonsense camp knife. There are plenty of similar sheath knives but it really comes to how the knife feels in your hand and the little details, like you point out.

I have to admit, I had to look that up! I’ve always held, you should use the right tool for the job, unless it really is a life or death survival situation. But that was bred in to me… as a youth!

@@slick_slicers , well, to be fair, I googled it just before I posted it! Same here. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. We should all know how to improvise, and I can see training to do so for the off chance but to routinely but in the end, it should be the right tool for the right job. And prior planning increases the odds that you will have the right tool for the right job.

Hello. When i was young i called them sheath knives however now i tend to call them fixed blades simply because i consider a Buck 110 or a 111mm Sak to be sheath knives even though they are folders. It all depends on the size of your pockets i suppose. A very good looking Falkniven. All the best.

However; you came to buy this knife you made a brilliant decision on your part. Being quite attractive is the norm for your tastes. But, if I had to choose this laminated blade over any new or so called super steel I would buy this one first. This is a perfect example of a Gentlemen’s Big Game Hunting knife. Suited for proper Safari attire; not meant for skinning a Cape Buffalo but, if necessary could do it if required. The flat metal end cap protects the wood handle and makes a great nut cracker too. The leather sheath will break in nicely after some use. From my use of laminated steel blades they are greatly under rated. They hold a very sharp edge for a very longtime under normal use compared to other steel; super or otherwise. ✨🐃✨🥂🤠

So I don't mean to be rude or sound ignorant and obviously I'm American. But I don't understand how it would even come into conversation or anyone would even question what is in your pockets? It just seems Incredibly strange that would even be a issue regardless of the laws. I'm sure it's extremely complicated and multifaceted.

As we don’t have guns here, the majority of homicides are with a ‘sharp object’, usually a kitchen knife. In truth, the U.K. is a pretty safe country, the Police don’t even carry guns, so the number of deaths is very low. However, there is always some do gooder running around screaming “even one death is one too many!” As a result a culture of banning knives has become all pervasive. Of course any prohibition only increases the attraction of the illicit, and so the kids all want a knife! When I was a youth, pretty much everyone had a knife, and no one was ever stabbed.
