Removing the leather handle of a Fallkniven Idun NL5 and making a traditional beech handle.
WHY?
I have used this Fallkniven Idun NL5 for 8 years now, but I find the leather handle too small.
BIG hands you know. It is a nice handle, that's why I waited so long to remove it.. I made a traditional heated and stabilized beech wooden handle that fits nice in my hand now.
So, I could have bought a different knive in the past, yes, but this is the one I had. And it is a beast.

Watching you change the handle on the NL5 was like passing a terrible car wreck while driving. Even though I was horrified, I couldn't look away. Not sure what that says about me.

Yeah, you're right, I think I need to sand it down a little bit more. The original leather handle was too small, this one is a bit too beefy.

I wonder: why to try to improve an already perfect thing? If the handle of one of the best and most expensive knives doesn't fit your hand for the job you want to do should'nt simpler to look for a different knife?

yeah, thing was the leather handle was too small for my hand, so I wanted to make a new one that fits me, this one needs some sanding down still, but it fits nice now.

My guess, given that that looks like a well used knife is that he wanted a handle change on his existing knife, and not to just buy a new one. But hey, it’s just a guess.
