Eddie used to hang at a Long Island NY club called SPIT (he actually wore a SPIT T-shirt on SNL) One day I go to the club and my VERY hot GF was waiting for me... And when I find her this huge black dude seems to be trying to pick her up. So for him to come back after 35 years, still funny, with this renaissance he's having...the anticipation is almost going to be so huge he can't live up to it. Meh that’s up for debate. As a comedic actor but then Pryor isn’t considered the best comedic actor. Chappelle is a much better stand up. Murphy doesn’t have an iconic stand up time. At least not that I’ve seen. He’s much more comparable to robin Williams I think.

Ghostbusters yes, it would have been interesting to see him in that role. However, even though I love Eddie I don't think he would have been better than Bob Hoskins in Roger Rabbit. The 30s/40s private eye film noir vibe worked better with a more reserved and understated actor. Bob Hoskins looked like a character actor from the old days, and because he played the role with a straight face it made the wackiness of the cartoon world stand out more in contrast. I think 80s Eddie would have infused more energy into the performance and been a bit over the top, and it wouldn't have worked quite as well. Hoskins was brilliant in that film.
