0:09 That shot of the dummer choking his high-hat reminds me of why I love watching rock bands like this play on TV. Pop music made with synthesized or virtual instruments is great too, but there's just something special about musicians playing "real" instruments that allow them to do little tricks like that, the kind that make you go "Oh, THAT'S how you make it do that!" It gives me fond memories of when I was a pre-teen learning how to play drums by copying what I'd see in rock videos. Stuff like that isn't the only reason I'll always prefer "band" music over music made with synthesizers, but it's something I absolutely feel when it's not there.

i have no problem with hardcore music being popular...in fact i welcome it. just this isn't hardcore. people think that statement is tied to quality, it isn't. sure there are hardcore elements, i mean that's where the band started....but this performance reminds me more of Faith No More than it does FEAR or Black Flag or Shai Hulud or Have Heart. i'm also not gonna use the the s-word to describe Turrnstile cuz they clearly keep true to their roots and maintain their artistic integrity. for a band like Turnstile, the gatekeeping fanbase should welcome that they aren't hardcore anymore, that hardcore has turned into this monolithic style of gym-bros and chuggah riffs...and that it's too limiting for Turnstile.

@@surfrat8884 You take the mentality of the community of hardcore music, and the unity aspect of it. Then, you change the music just enough to reach a larger audience, while keeping the heart of the sound at it's core. The evolution of music isn't a scary thing. Every great genre movement in music history has it's bands/artists that are right place/right time for exploration, which leads to the growth of the genre to a new generation.
