Here is a new way to look at stairs. This technique is especially handy for those who want custom stairs in the form of half stairs or L-Shape stairs. I hope you find this tutorial useful!

Thank you for taking a look. Lining it up perfectly for the blueprint takes a while, and some patience. However, once it's done, you won't need to do it again, and you can have cool custon stairs in virtually any build. I really appreciate the warm feedback!

Yes, it is a bit of a budget drain. But for smaller builds or builds with lots of open space, it is a feasible blueprint. It's always nice to have options when building, especially for half wall heights. Thank you for checking it out!

Thanks for this, looking forward to trying it! Any tips on precision placement with mouse + keyboard? I find it's nearly impossible to line up large items.
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
I wish I could say I've used a mouse/keyboard setup, so this advice is based on theory. One thing is for certain, try doing it without the mouse, it's way too unstable. In freecam, I would get the bottom of your screen lined up perfectly with a line in the roof, so that is perfectly even. I would then stop using the mouse once in position. From there, I would switch to your movement keys on the keyboard. If possible, lower the movement speed on then. This means you can only go left/right/forward/backward, which is what you want. For context, when I'm doing this with a controller, I don't use the right joystick. Place the first pillar, then use your keyboard to put it down right next to it. If you lined it up well enough in the beginning, it should go perfectly next to it. As soon as you place the next one, then go directly behind it using only forward or backward. Keep repeating this in a snake pattern until you place all of the posts.
@cydex580Ай бұрын
@@MoonlightCowboyGaming Thank you! I hadn't even considered using the directional keys. Been building for years with the mouse and doing a lot of cursing! :D

Only downside is the Camp budget. Looks amazing though! I never understood why they gave us such ugly stairs in the game (for the most part). Not only that but what on earth is the snapping with staircases in this game lol
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
The stairs in the thumbnail took about 18 flamingos, or 3.6% of the total camp budget. It is a little pricey, but not terrible. And to your point, I would love some half stairs in the game! Thanks for checking it out!

I want to love the housing of fallout . But, it makes no logical sense . So, problem . LoL 🤣 amazing video . Thanks for the design ideas as well. 8 yr vet of ESO . Crazy how different the housing in the 2 . ESO super refined and no problems merging anything . Fallout you need a duck ? ❤ Respect .
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
I did ESO for about 5 years. I pretty much quit when FO76 came out. I have respect for the amazing housing in ESO. The way you can rotate pieces is something I'm very jealous of. I think the reason I prefer the building in Fallout is simply because it's not instanced. Anyone can just walk up to your camp, and that is huge to me. We deal with all of the nuances because there's nothing like a random player walking up to your camp in awe.
@whytheseaisboilinghotАй бұрын
Man it sucks like everything says that it's intersecting issues when I try to place posts underneath the ones to form this actual stairs and I'm not able to change one style of post to another style which I was sure that that used to be an option that was available but I guess not. I tried removing the floor and to get them to snap just directly to the post above it into the ground but it says it's intersecting with an existing object and I don't know what to do
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
In the tutorial, it states that some posts might give you issues. When this happens, use a flametosser to destroy the posts. Then the foundation will then snap through them to other foundations. Also keep in mind that they may struggle to penatrate hard rocks or roads. Also, if you're on PS, I can show you in game.
@visualsiren89xАй бұрын
I'm confused so to start with u do the first one with the duck Not right up against the posts ? Becos u don't actually explain that , then it clips to the part where the posts have the duck in the middle against the posts ????
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
Sorry for the confusion. The duck... well any small camp floor decor item for that matter... can be placed anywhere for the blueprint to work. The small camp item is the anchor point for the blueprint, so if it's farther away, it may give you more reach for your blueprint, but it will be harder to line it up. If you blueprint the item closer to the posts, you will have more control, but less range.
@tigerheartproductions8917Ай бұрын
This is fantastic! I made lastnight walk up easy. But I can't get it to snap to a foundation or into it. Any suggestions?
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
Try destroying the stairs, then placing your foundation, then repairing the stairs. That should work just about every time. I tested it with all three Atom Shop stairposts.
@tigerheartproductions8917Ай бұрын
@MoonlightCowboyGaming I did but now that I think back. I might have still had the small black poles on top hanging in mud air. If that doesn't work, I will start from scratch. I did go one step higher. You mentioned you could but wasn't for the current video. So I may go back and not add the one extra tier if the other suggestion doesn't work.

How much build space does this take up?
@MoonlightCowboyGamingАй бұрын
That all depends on how wide you want the stairs to be, and how tall. In the stairs that I made in the thumbnail, they took a combined 16 flamingos. Each post takes 1 flamingo, and there are 16. That staircase was 3.2% of the total camp budget.
