I always liked that Machamp's extra arms have their own separate shoulders and not just sprouting out of its torso like most multi-armed humanoids in fiction. It looks awkward at a glance but it has way more range of motion to swing punches and throw people around that way. From a design standpoint it's almost how you would imagine such a creature to realistically evolve if six-limbed vertebrates actually existed.

@@ItsJustKaya Fissure Machamp can't coexist with No Guard because the only way to get a Machamp with that move is to use a TM that only exists in gen 1. All gen 1 Pokemon that are caught on 3DS virtual console and transferred to a modern game have their hidden abilities, which for Machamp is Steadfast. I'm aware that in gen 9 there's an item that lets you change a Pokemon's hidden ability to be a regular ability, but Machamp isn't in Scarlet/Violet and they'll probably continue to prevent people from getting a No Guard pokemon with an OHKO move lol

One fun detail for Gen 1 Machamp is that it is actually good at baiting in psychic types and then eliminating them with Counter. When you do it right, your own explosion damage (or self destruct damage) can be carried over with Counter after you used the mentioned moves above. So if your opponent sends in Chansey as you send in Machamp, when they switch to say Alakazam, or Starmie, or Zapdos then they will take the full damage of the explosion or self destruct through counter on the switch which then KOs it. Extremely funny when you can get this to work.

Machamp is also one of the biggest "what if" pokemon of all time, as the only Pokemon in the game with access to No guard and an OHKO move. Only problem is, the OHKO more is only available from a transfer from gen 1, and all pokemon transferred from gen 1 have their hidden abilities, so we don't yet have a way to give Machamp back No Guard, as it isn't in gen 9, but if champ returns in gen 10 and gets to keep Fissure, it might become a terror the likes of which have never been seen.

Machamp absolutely could use Rock Slide in Gen 1! I distinctively remember the Pokemon Stadium Round 2 battle against Bruno. The game was enough of a cheating bastard that he had the offensive half of No Guard years before he officially had it. As well as Fissure. So if you used anything that wasn't a Flying type against it, he insta-killed them. If you brought a flyer, he used Rock Slide and usually crit with it. I looked it up on Serebii just to be absolutely sure, and yep, it's listed as one of his TM options.

I remember when I played Gen 4 competitive back in the actual days of Gen IV and some guy was running a Guts Fire Orb set with Close Combat and I was like "why not No Guard with Dynamic Punch?" his response was something along the lines of "Yes, I would love giving the opponent perfect accuracy on Hypnosis, Will o Wisp, Thunder, Stone Edge, etc. for the privilege of a weaker Close Combat that inflicts a confusion, which is gone if they die or if they switch. Machamp is my favorite Fighting type cause of its awesome & intricate design. They did it so dirty in its debut generation but made up for it somewhat in later gens. How I would buff it is lowering its Sp. atk by 20 and putting that into its HP & defense to be a little bulkier, plus give it Drain Punch too. Lastly, I think the Pokedex states it can throw 1,000 punches a minute, so a lot more believable than 500 a second.

Here's hoping in the next Gen, Machamp get's to keep the Mach Punch and Drain Punch it received in Legends. Either or both could potentially be a game changer for it. Also seems like an obvious user of Upper Hand which is something of an underrated move in VGC at least.

I to this day use No Guard, Dynamic Punch, Focus Stash Machamp on every team I build on Showdown 💪💪💪. Favorite Pokémon design wise and funnest to use 💥.
