I will never forget Nik Wellenda's walk across Niagara Falls back in summer 2012. My heart was in my mouth the entire time. As another already posted, it's one of those things where you're afraid to watch, but you can't stop yourself. It was also apparently the first time he had to wear a safety harness, but it was a requirement in order to get approval from Canada and the US. A year or so later, I even watched the TV coverage of it just to see the act again. As someone who can barely put one foot in front of the other without tripping, his skill and that of his family amazes me. What an incredible family. Thank you for this look at the Wellendas, Jordan!

Thank you Jordan, this vlog was a wonderful tribute to the Wallendas (indeed to all trapeze artists). Such amazing skills and immense bravery - all to entertain. They really should have a street named after them.

The Wallendas are such a big part of acrobatics history, watched one of the younger ones cross Niagara Falls a few years back. Karl is a legend, Ringley Bros came to Willimantic, CT where I grew up every year when I was a child, I still cry for the animals but it’s all over know and hopefully the ones left are in happy rescues. Ty for this Jordan brought back many happy childhood memories 😎This guy you filmed might be the one who crossed Niagara Falls, he is so talented 👀

Loved this vlog. You did an awesome job telling their story. I been a fan of the Wallendas since I was a kid in the 60s. I got to see Karl perform at the Shrine Circus in Evansville, Indiana several times. Saw his fall on television back in 1978. I was nine. Through out the years I have gotten to meet many of the Wallendas, including Nik. I am surprised you didn't enterview Blake Wallenda for your vlog. After watching your vlog, I went back and watch your friend Scott Michaels vlog on them from a year ago.

The flying Wallendas I am so fascinated by Jordan. They were so bold and exceptionally brave, I can't even stand on a stepladder to Change a light bulb haha 😂. I will never forget when Karl attempted to complete the tightrope in-between sky scrapers😳. My heart was in my mouth. And he was smiling when he started to fall. 😵 I mean I am so accident prone I could fall through fresh air.

My uncle micheal (Kinnamon)knows them. He worked with them when he was younger. He decided to run away to the circus when he was a kid. They told my grandma next time they (the circus) told him they were going to keep him next time....that's exactly whT happened. Their train would pass by my grandparents house evertime they came to Jacksonville, Florida. He did various jobs like highline, clown and something else I don't remember the name of and one act involving the wire and motor cycle. He still has pictures from his act and one of the outfits that he made for his act. It is this tacky blue outfit. He was showing things last year about it all and the pranks he would pull (which he still likes to do just can't do as much now lol 😆). My uncle was a chocolate lover and they would get onto him. My mom got to meet some of the wendlendas. She said they were some broccoli eating fools. They loved broccoli that much. My uncle Mike told me that's one thing he wished he could relive and go back doing and all. I am definitely showing this to my mom and sending this video to my uncle. He would probably enjoy it more than her but they would both appreciate seeing this video.

Not sure if he did others - it getting harder to remember that far back! yipes....

Back in 1963 I saw the Wallendas perform their three-man pyramid a little over a year after the famous fall that killed two members of the troupe; tough old Karl insisted they keep working because the "show must go on" and so they did a few final shows to finish out the 1963 season.; following that they stopped performing that act for quite awhile. I'll never forget their entrance as they stood there under those spotlights as the crowd roared out a thunderous welcome; but then that arena went deadly silent as they climbed up to that rope ladder, the only sound what seemed like hundreds of Kodak Instamatic cameras snapping away as they did, then those cameras fell silent, too. You could hear every creak and pop of their rigging as they positioned themselves, Karl's voice barking out cues in German as their feet edged out onto the wire to form that pyramid. It was a truly electrifying moment as the emotional impact of what they were doing swept over that crowd and once they safely returned to their perch 60' in the air, that arena erupted into sustained applause like I'd never heard before, or since!

@@elainebines6803The family has not used them since that first performance where the net did not arrive. Karl always said it promotes a false sense of security.
