The family of a woman who drowned while a 911 operator appeared to mock her say they are appalled by the handling of her emergency, but they forgive the operator. A frantic Debbie Stevens sobbed as she was on the phone with an operator in Arkansas while she was trapped in a flash flood on the morning of Aug. 24. Stevens eventually drowned. Now, her family is speaking out, telling Inside Edition they are furious at the handling of her emergency. #InsideEdition

Mia C, the dispatcher probably does not believe that she is perfect. If there is anywhere that proves that she does, besides assumptions and "average Karen data" you might have, would you please let me know where? (I'm not saying she's a Karen by the way.)

it's frustrating when people choose the "moral high ground" over situations like this. it essentially sends a message that it's fine to do things without backlash and consequence. i don't see any problem with revenge or choosing not to forgive. in fact i believe it's healthy in most cases. to forgive in these situations is to ignore and push down feelings which is ultimately very bad for long term mental health.

If you’ve ever listened to the entire call, it is utterly heartbreaking. It is extremely hard to hear. She begged to call her mother and was told no. She asked the 911 operator to pray with her and was told no. At one point she asked how long it would take to die. Miss Stevens was an angel up until the end of her life. I wish I had known her. How could he just downplay the deaths of the victims and his own grandfather who had such horrible death. They all deserve justice! His grandfather didn't even get his justice and he was proud of it. That's abhorrent that such a dispatcher had such an attitude. Never supposed to be so lacking in care in a time of need. Can't believe Debbie basically had to apologise for dying and to have to hear that operator as her final voice to hear.

They're stronger than I am, IDK if I could be so forgiving not so soon after. Even if it was her last day or she "didn't realize the severity" it doesn't absolve her of being so cruel.

What's even more heartbreaking is that her family forgives the dispatcher but has the dispatcher even apologized? Is she the least bit remorseful? I highly doubt it.

I feel awful for Debbie Stevens and her family. However, Ms. Stevens did absolutely nothing to save herself. I understand she could not swim but my god, hold onto the vehicle and try to climb onto the roof.....something. She just sat there screaming and waiting for someone else to save her.
