Bob Monkhouse was an absolute legend and by far the best host

Definitely the best host. Ironic that the producer, William G Stewart, subsequently became a powerhouse quiz show host himself.

Bob Monkhouse is the only presenter that was voted the 50 best liked presenter and the 50 least liked presenter at the same time and was one of the nicest guys. If you can find it online id recommend watching a documentary about his life, showing how hard he worked. Les Dennis was the longest presenter of the show, but he could not match the comedic talent that Bob had. I think that is why he stopped doing the stand up part of the show.

Haha, I was just a kid growing up with this show and I grown to like it as well as Bob Monkhouse who was funny and charismatic. The joking around and the gags, he would not get away in today's society.

"Let's hurry along with the next round... Oh no, wait! We have another answer to reveal!" If Max did that, he was slated for it, but not Bob. Not that that's a bad thing... We like to see things go wrong from time to time, it adds to the enjoyment of the show. Bob & Max weren't all that different, in that sense.

Bob lost a lot of weight between then and 1984 when he went over to the Beeb to do Bob's Full House.

These Family Fortunes produced for ATV should be shown on Challenge Tv these episodes shoud be shown on there like The ATV Bulleyes which were shown on the Channel ..
@antster19835 жыл бұрын
The vast majority of the ATV/early Central editions Family Fortunes were wiped. The earliest episodes Challenge have shown are from series 4 (1982-3, except episodes 13 & 14, believed to have been wiped), Bob Monkhouse's final series before defecting to the BBC. As for Bullseye, Challenge can show all those episodes because the majority of them exist.

A clone to US Family Feud
@betaman79886 жыл бұрын
Of course. Bob changed Feud to Fortunes as he believed feud sounded to violent for the British audience. Many British game shows were first created in the US and ported to the UK but sitcoms were mainly first created in the UK and ported to the US

Bruce Forsyth had wanted to do this show but Bob and ATV pipped him to the deal with Goodson Todman at the MIPCOM TV festival. So he "made do" with Play Your Cards Right.

@@betaman7988 a notable game show that was UK to US was Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. And other than Family Feud/Fortunes, the most popular US game shows (The Price Is Right, Wheel Of Fortune, & Jeopardy, all shows that have been on for 40 years or more) didn’t do very well in the UK.

@@mbvideoselection I heard that too. The other was Bruce wanted to swap shows with Bob. If anything both would have suited either show
