All jokes aside... Gender isn't an "Identity". Gender has always meant biological sex. And there's only 2. Our "gender" roles were determined by which sex is stronger. If women had been stronger, our roles would be "reversed". (it's all relative) If there's an alternative universe and they came here, just because they "identify" with the men here, doesn't mean they gotta change sex. Just like if we went to their universe and identified with the women, we wouldn't have to change sex either. We are who we are inside, not for what's outside. Our personality has nothing to do with our sex. It's all society and culture. Clothing isn't even gendered, but we associate certain types of clothing with either sex. So when a kid wears opposite clothing, there's literally nothing to it. You can't say "oh, i guess they're this gender then" because that's just putting your own rules of what a gender is "supposed" to wear.

@@TheCharleseye If I can try to provide the differing perspective - There are solid arguments without logical inconsistencies, but since this is now a culture war issue where absolutely everyone has an opinion, not everyone is educated on the topic or knows how to construct arguments like that. In my experience talking with people or reading the literature from the leading scholars in the field, the only time someone is ridiculed for disagreeing is when all scientific evidence is divulged and yet that person still disagrees. At that point, it's not about the facts. That person has some unresolved dislike of trans people that does not come from an objective perspective. As for the example in your first paragraph, there isn't an inconsistency. It's a common misunderstanding of the difference between biological sex and gender. No, it's not just snowflakes giving in to their feelings and disregarding facts. There have been quite a few studies (the most prominent from 2018, and a meta-analysis of all of them in the works) showing that the brain structures of trans individuals' is more aligned with their gender identity than what you typically see in cis individuals. Basically, biological men and women have different brain structures, but a trans person born as a biological man and identifying as a woman has a brain matching that of a cis woman. So it's more than just feelings, it has scientific evidence to support non-cis gender identity not being a decision. I don't agree that you can't have an opinion on abortion (or most subjects for that matter) because you're a man, but it's not an inconsistency to suggest a trans woman shares a closer perspective to a cis woman than a cis man.

Only 1% of trans people regret transitioning, and even fewer then go on to detransition. Yet people have to lie about the regret rate. Knee Surgery's regret rate, for reference, is about 30%.
