Exactly. He was only mad bc his bs wasn't working on her originally. This is why it's so important to not teach girls and young women that "be nice & smile for me" mentality. I remember learning about how the FLDS church referred to this mentality as "keeping sweet". This idea of politeness, never complain, accept men's offers and behaviors and don't refuse or upset them, is wrong and in this case nearly cost the woman her life. Her original response was the right one.

Thank you for pointing out how terrible crime was during the 70's and 80's. I read so many comments online about how "terrible and dangerous things are today" and how "we're lacking ethics", when things are significantly better than they were 30-50 years ago. Crime dropped exponentially from 1993 on, yet many people think the opposite is true. They don't even bother researching when you tell them this either.

I think one of the reasons some ppl think it's worse now is b/c we have access to news from all over the nation & the world via the internet so we hear about it more. Back then that wasn't the case, esp in smaller towns. So it may feel like crime is worse now when it's actually not

Hi! I have a masters degree in human genetics, we discussed this case in a bioethics class to weigh the ethical considerations of using DNA for criminal cases since this was the first case to do so! It was fascinating to hear you tell the story, hearing more context aside from just the trial documentation gave me a different appreciation for familial DNA to solve such a heinous string of crimes.
@DeidreL9 Жыл бұрын
Hello Olivia, can I ask you, how far back can familial DNA be used? I’ve read discussions about DNA being taken from someone who lived quite a while ago, and descendants being traced through this. We need new Bailey merch that says "I'm laughing because I'm uncomfortable". I'd buy all of it!!
@holdupisthatmaddy Жыл бұрын
If she is sooo uncomfortable then why does she do this for a career? I’m sorry but that’s not an excuse .. “ I’m laughing because I’m uncomfortable “ like why? She has done this for years, & she could edit the parts of her laughing out.. I enjoy watching her but honestly the laughing, especially in these situations & stories, is just super disrespectful.. I don’t disagree with laughing when ur uncomfortable but it’s like your grown, you should be able to control that, & know when the situation isn’t appropriate & a laughing matter ..
@abithevikinglass Жыл бұрын
@MissMaddy444 Jfc you must be the sort to think I'm evil for laughing in disbelief when I found out my sons father died. Guess what it's a natural human reaction, it called nervous laughter, laughing doesn't only happen because something is funny. It happens when people are scared, anxious, uncomfortable, confused and embarrassed. Just because you don't do it, doesn't mean other GROWN adults won't experience it. Telling someone to grow up because they've had this reaction and to control themselves. These are people who are predisposed to having said narutal, uncontroable reaction actually shows how you're the one who needs to grow up and actually educate yourself on natural human behaviour.
@holdupisthatmaddy Жыл бұрын
@abithevikinglass That’s completely different than “laughing in disbelief” over something you have read, rehearsed, & memorized over and over ..
@holdupisthatmaddy Жыл бұрын
@@abithevikinglass wow I see you put allot of thought & information into that comment. Did you have to do research for it? I wasn’t being mean or anything. I don’t owe you an explanation for what I said, & either way.. I still feel the same way. There is nothing you can say to make me change my mind, & I see nothing is going to change yours. So just let me have my opinion and I’ll let you have yours.

I'm glad Bailey is speaking about this case. I'm from South Central (LA) and this case is *VERY* infamous in the local scene. However, it isn't spoken about as much in the True Crime Community. Unfortunately, due to the racial and socio-economic circumstances the women/girls were in, no one batted an eye. The victims' stories deserved to be heard. Sending love from LA ❤✨️

@lovejules. Figueh03 (locals: iykyk) is riddled with so many prostitutes, it's almost a banality. I went to an elementary school near Figueroa and I can remember the countless times I have seen a woman in sheer/almost no clothing.
