Today I visit the gravesites of some of the cast members of the classic TV show AMOS and ANDY.
I also visit the gravesite of African American composers and lyrist Andy Razaf, who's buried near his friend, actor Tim "Kingfish" Moore. Razaf wrote some of the most popular American songs of all time, including: Ain't Misbehavin', In The Mood, Honeysuckle Rose, The Jumpin', Stompin' At The Savoy and many others.
Gravesite tours include:
Spencer Williams (Andy Brown), Los Angeles National Cemetery, Westwood, California
Amanda Randolph (Mama), Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, California
Lillian Randolph (Madam Queen), Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, California
Ernestine Wade (Sapphire Stevens), Angelus Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, California
Tim Moore (George Kingfish Stevens), Angelus Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, California
Andy Razaf (Composer and Lyrist), Angelus Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, California
Jester Hairston (Henry Van Porter), Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California
Roy Glenn (Various roles), Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California
Cremated, Unknown or out of the area:
Alvin Childress (Amos Jones), National Memorial Harmony Park, Landover, Maryland
Johnny Lee (Algonquin J. Calhoun), Final resting place unknown
Nick Stewart aka Nick O'Demus (Willie Jefferson aka Lightnin'), Cremated and unknown
Thanks for joining me on another nostalgic road trip down memory lane to the cemetery.

If the cast were white, there would be no problem. In college I mentioned a plot from a show and was told it was racist. I told another story later not mentioning A&A. People howled at the story. I then mentioned it was a plot from A&A. They were quiet after that.

The reason many of the birth dates, death dates are often so sketchy, is that many of the people in this program and others like it, Were born and raised in the rural south, and vital statistics such as births, marriages, and deaths were often memorialized in the family's Bible, and were never formalized and placed in government ledgers. After all, many people's milestones in life took place in the home, not institutional venues. Interesting vlog Steve.👍

I was born in Torrance and a very nice Lady lived across the alley near the train tracks. Her husband worked on the set of Amos and Andy. She took us on a tour of the set and I got tho shake hands with them both. In the same giant studio they were filming the Life of Riley, of course the garage scene with William Bendix, who I also shook this boy's hand. It was a magical day and they were so nice to this shy little boy.

Way back in the 50s my dad and I loved this tv show. I will never understand why they thought tyhis show was bad for race relations. People only watch the shows they like and the actors in them. They were great ambassadors to cross the racial divide and come into our homes. I think people would naturally grow closer without somer one pointing out the bad things that are not there. You do not watch anything on tv you do not like. I may not be stating this very good but these actors were loved in my parents home just as much as any of the early comedy stars. This world would be a better place without negative people. I hope I stated this good. God Bless al the people who made us laugh when we needed it.

When I was very young back in the 50s I saw and heard the Amos & Andy Show and I never forgot when my father used to talk similar to the kingfish and how he addressed Sapphire and it left an impression on me and I was so thrilled to get the entire TV series at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg New York up a bunch of years ago and I was so thrilled to have it on DVD and so glad that they had put it on something that I could have for the rest of my life I have watched every single episode many times and always got a thrill it not only how bright and Brilliant the writers were that have the word play that they did with kingfish and all the other characters The Amos & Andy Show left an impression on me of some of the greatest comedy it has never been written and I have watched an awful lot of Comedy but this was brilliantly done I am so happy that I got a chance to see that and now I'm over 70 years old and I couldn't be more satisfied knowing the D brilliant people who did the Amos & Andy Show should have all had a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame they all should be recognized for their brilliant characteristics their characters that they played and the word play that was written by the writers and how well those actors acted it out it was absolutely fantastic and I won't ever forget it and I've tried to share that with many people did tell him how brilliantly with done it wasn't racist it wasn't bad it was excellent and this kind of Comedy should be shown more often it was absolutely great

Thanks for sharing steve. It was a little while before my time too but I do remember the days when the freeways of southern California where there wasn't any traffic jams. Then came the stop lights to enter the freeways. Oh well. Lord bless you brother.

Hey Steve thanks again for a wonderful video. I may have seen some bits of the show but not really any episodes that I remember. I love how you come across all these places and we learn so much about these people. Can't believe that one guy with all the songs that he wrote my God I played many of those in concert band when I was a kid. Also because of you I kind of know my way around Los Angeles now... LOL! California just seems so beautiful but I always hear the horror stories about the traffic. My goodness a 6 hour drive just to go a hundred miles... It really really must be bad as they say. I often complain about the traffic here in Florida but oh boy it sounds crazy in California... LOL. In any case thank you so much and it's wonderful to see that you're about to hit 30,000 subscribers. It should be 1 million! Thanks again Steve. See you later!

lol, i recently heard that LA has the worst traffic in the entire world. i was not surprised to hear that. there's never a time, day or night, when the freeways are not busy. as for subscribers, it's surprisingly difficult to get them on youtube for most channels. with billions of viewers i wouldn't think it would be so difficult. i'm sure grateful for those i have. thanks, as always for sharing, alexander!

You're always very informative with your videos Steve, one of the many reasons I enjoy them so much. I think I've probably mentioned before that a lot of people mentioned, I've never heard of, maybe because they were before my time or maybe their shows were only shown in America, I don't know, but it's always nice to learn. Thanks again for another great video. :) ~Karin~

My favorite joke from the A and A TV show was, Kingfish and Andy were before a judge in court. The judge asked Andy how he met Mr Stevens. Andy's answer: "I was at a carnival, and wanted to see something that cost ten cents to enter. So, I reached in my back pocket for my wallet, and shook hands with Mr Stevens."
