In Korea's past, during the Joseon Dynasty, there was not a single spicy dish containing chili peppers. As a Korean, even now, I can definitely say that there are much more types of Korean food that do not contain chili peppers (such as gochujang, gochugaru, etc.) than korean food has chili. Korean food originally focused on the original taste of ingredients. Look at the Joseon Dynasty royal cuisine drama Dae Jang Geum.
