just had acl and meniscus surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. i feel like the luckiest man in the world. my anesthesia took 4 days to wear off so for 4 days, i didnt leave my bed, was very careful w what i ate bc i knew i wouldnt be able to go to the bathroom to sh*t. on day 4 i had to see the doctor bc the anesthesia should have worn off and we were worried. the walk to the car, and then from the car back to the bed was some of the worst pain ever. but manageble. anesthesia wore off by day 6, but i was never in any real pain, never woke up midsleep in pain, never had any trouble really. time flew and now im just focused on recovering and my therapy. i guess the anesthesia taking forever to wear off was a blessing in disguise

Curious as to why so soon for surgery? I ruptured my ACL, mild tear of MCL, medial meniscus tear, PLC sprain, popliteus and soleus strains and I’m over 4 weeks out and just doing physical therapy to make sure surgery is really the correct choice. I know people commonly believe an ACL rupture means instantly needing surgery but there’s some new evidence showing spontaneous healing of ACLs as well as data that shows no difference in osteoarthritis in the future from those who get surgery and those who don’t. I was told surgery can actually speed up arthritis. I appreciate this video though. I’m trying to see pain levels of different people and those who get nerve blocks and those who don’t etc in case surgery ends up being my only option if I can’t get stability.

I tore my right ACL and waited three miserable years of constant knee sprains before getting ACL repair. So when this happened to my left knee got it right away and they only had one opening in three months and I was having a baby in four months so took the close slot.

@@Famvestor oh man 😩 that’s my biggest fear is dislocating again. I am still using at least one crutch and wearing my brace when I’m out and about. I totally get it with bad timing. I just had my second baby 5 almost 6 months ago. We have an almost 3 year old and an almost 6 month old and my hubs is the money maker for us so I stay home. It’s been tough. Im breastfeeding also so I don’t want to have to worry about the anesthesia and pain meds and stuff in my milk. Im super scared to have surgery though. I’m afraid of the pain after and the lengthy recovery. We don’t have the help we need at all 😅

Well I couldn’t because they stitched my meniscus. But when I had my right ACL surgery two years ago they shaved my meniscus and I could immediately weight bare. I remember having some pins in my calf too but it went away. I think push yourself if they say it’s okay. Here is video from my right ACL 2 years ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmrdlYVth7iZa9k

I got surgery on my acl almost a week ago and it took them three months to get me surgery. I have been having very little pain as of now I’ve been walking on it everywhere for the last 3 days. However I have had some horrible pain spikes and it’s not constant it’s only if I tweak it. But it’s like a very sharp burning pain and I haven’t ever felt anything like it i was wondering if anyone else has had that pain and if you know what it is.

@Famvestor3 жыл бұрын
Hey Fabian, if you are young and active I’d highly recommend getting the surgery… I did my right knee two years ago and it’s pretty much at 100% now. But I put off surgery for years before finally getting it done two years ago and would constantly tweak it and limp around for weeks. Recovery from surgery is a painful time consuming process, but worth it.

@Famvestor, how to overcome the fear, nerves prior to the surgery...you looked so cool, calm, and collected. I will have a revision ACL soon. Have you signed to consent to use your own hamstring prior to the operation? Thanks, your videos motivated so many people, I am one of them.

Isn’t it supposed to be less to no weight bearing on the repaired meniscus until it heals ?
@Famvestor Жыл бұрын
Yes for a stitched meniscus. But if they shave away the meniscus debris instead of repairing it, you cna immediately weightbear. Good for short-term not so good for long term.
