I once saw Alan leaving the theatre, and I shouted "Big Red rules!" He glanced my way and nodded in approval. Meanwhile, the people whom he was with looked at him in utter disdain, and repeated mockingly "Big Red rules". Alan just continued striding proudly down the street. This brush with greatness needs no writer's embellishment.
