I have very mixed feelings about MisterDavie. On one hand, he was a very skilled animator which near-show matched style. On the other, his videos didnt have adequate warnings. The one he had on Smile HD was just a bunch of jokes. When you make twisted content for a show whose primary demographic is young children, you NEED proper warnings.

Honestly, the early 2010s were such a trip and were a golden age for fandoms. MLP, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Doctor Who, Sherlock, Steven Universe, Undertale, etc. were so much fun to be a part of. Probably the most nostalgia I'll ever feel for a time period.

something interesting to note is i emailed him around 2018/2019 asking for commissions and he actually responded saying he was, i never got back to him though and i haven't asked since. he was doing commissions up to around 2017 if i recall correctly with his last big one being an animation of doctor robotnik from the sonic animated series from the 90s and some female character idr the name of, it was a 2 parter but i have a feeling they were deleted at some point as i can't find them anymore. ***EDIT*** after finishing the video i realized this was actually "adventures with robotnik", i think the commissioner said he had deleted them because he didn't really want to do anything else with them and was sick of people bothering him about davey either way in my opinion davey was absolutely an alt/smurf account of some other flash animator from either newgrounds or some other similar community, who this animator truly was i have no idea. the alias' entire purpose was likely to troll and cause as much bullshit as possible, being able to just fade away at a moment's notice, which he did. i think at one point after seeing he actually had a devoted following for what he likely saw as shitposts he began taking commisions, but after repeated copyright strikes from hasbro he just gave up on it and left for good around 2018. personally i have major doubts he ever intended on making the rainbow factor movie, if he did anything like it it would probs have been just a shitpost like season 4 or something. i do not think the return of some of his vids were by him, they were most def automated

All the vids are exactly what 2010’s-2015 or 2016 edgy content people just ate up and it shows. Also some of the facial expressions in these videos make me die laughing now. Davey wouldn't have had as much to work with when it comes to making the rainbow factory animation be horrible. and the creator got literal harassment over the song alone, which honestly was really tame for a dark MLP thing made by a fan. like legit it doesn't really even describe what goes on in the rainbow factory. just kinda says that whatever it is sucks ass to go through. actually I've never even seen fanart for the song (and fic) be all that gory. mostly just focused on Dash in her cool lab coat.m YEAAAHH. Honestly as a little 8yr old, being able to have access to unrestricted internet watching Misterzdavies stuff- I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from watching his channel. I had to be put into major therapy because I had developed gore f3tishation and because of how much I consumed his content (including others)it mentally effected me as a child. I used g0re content as a way to cope with problems that happened @ home I would collect dead animals and did weird stuff I can't even say. (Nothing sexual.) I saw Cupcakes & Smile as a young kid and I definitely did NOT need to. The warnings are a joke and super hard to read, and clearly meant to bait in kids/sensitive people which is…super gross to do. I think he may have been what got me more morbidly interested in gorey art (not the real stuff-majority of it exists without the consent of the victim and are just sad). I mean, I was exposed to a lot of really bad stuff as a kid, so it’s not like he was the only person but. I remember being both scared and in awe of how he animated carnage. was I only 9 years old? yeah. didn’t stop me from wanting to recreate this sort of morbid pony art in my crayola sketchbooks :’)

Even if he didn’t make the ceo claim or the multiple company claims, it’s literally impossible to be 18 and working as a proper animator at a large company. I’m personally not an animator, but I know people in the industry. No matter how talented you are, it takes a lot of time and connections to be an animator at, say, Disney. Disney has a large animation department, so maybe he could have claimed he was in training or a clean-up artist. But, he also said that he was making a lot of money, which implies a high-up job. Although, animators tend to make very little money in general (especially Disney animators lol. They actually get paid very little compared to some larger companies, because they also get paid in Disneyland tickets and clout I guess)

In regards to the Robotnik vid, someone posted a link to the reupload on KZbin. Says on the vid that Nowacking and Yondy worked with him on this animation... I wonder if Nowacking has any knowledge on him; Sadly, Yondy has since passed away so we may never know what he had to say; surprised me to see he worked with Mr. Davey since I've known him as a former member of the Wasteland Wailers. This fandom was truly a close knit community back then xD

As much as I hate it when companies go to these sort of lengths to shut down good animators, Davie feels like an exception to me. He treated everything like a joke and always lied, and his lack of giving proper warnings for his animations were further proof of that. (That's not even including the kind of content he made, which we all know is questionable as hell.) Say what you will about this comment, I feel like a bullet was seriously dodged. Dude had skills, but good skills doesn't equate to good person.

I like his work personally but i think it was definitely a product of its time (think about other videos that were around, including on newgrounds- they wouldnt be seen today) There's no way to tell if he's a good person or not going off his posts alone, but i think either he or youtube shouldve age restricted the video.

yeah, a lot of people are like "you can't post ANYTHING online anymore!" and like, sure, but like, it's one thing if you make a messed up gory thing and make it clear as day as for adults, but people seem to keep forgetting that mlp was a show for kids, and a lot of kids including myself saw them and it messed a lot of people up. it's not creators jobs to police what kids see, but still, it seems like he went out of his way to try and bait kids or other oblivious people into watching gore it's wild how the show for kids got taken over by adults, and then adults were mad that kids had the audacity to exist in the space that was supposed to be for them.

I had no idea I was going to be featured lol. But yeah, even I am waiting for Davey’s unexpected return, though with G5 not doing so hot right now, I don’t think he will come back. Though it would be cool if he released the unfinished Rainbow Factory animation he teased all those years ago. Also, at the time I was making the post, his last animation was still up for viewing, so it makes me wonder if he manually deleted the video himself. I *really* hope that lying all the time was the worst thing that MisterDavie actually did. People may say that a lack of content warnings were a serious issue, but that's all the more opinionated and nuanced on if and when content warnings are necessary. My issue would be more of if he was an actually shitty person. I sure as hell hope not. As you said, MisterDavie is a talented animator, and even if he wasn't at all working for those companies he claimed he worked for, I would be surprised if he isn't working as an independent animator somewhere in the shadows, if he's still around.

Most animators who made mlp videos back in the days aren't probaly gonna comeback, but ig they can have the possibility to come back in another social media that isn't KZbin, I watched smile HD as a kid ( a re-upload from someone else) and I guess I liked it because of the amount of mlp drawings I had on my first sketchbook when I was a child, i can't even remember my age when I saw it but I sure know that I drew alot of shit.
