A really interesting thing I learned recently about exotherms is that they regulate their metabolism using heat. It was fairly recently discovered that a creature's "internal framerate", the minimum number of moving frames required for it to look like a smooth motion, is directly proportional to its metabolism, and in reptiles, this is directly tied to their body temperature. When they need to hunt, they'll bask to heat up and increase their metabolism, so they can react quicker. When they don't need to be as quick to react, they'll cool down to slow down the metabolism and make that food last longer. And that is why reptiles don't have to eat as often as mammals.

Isopods actually do eat dead skin off of you. You can even see his head moving like it does when they eat at 35:55. It usually does not hurt but it can get a little uncomfortable when they are at the same spot for a while. Some people seem to taste better than others tho :D

(thinking abt how to introduce arthropods/invertebrates to people w/ similar mentality to fanfan) ik maya has talked abt getting a coral tank, so maybe getting other invertebrates (like annelid worms, crabs, sea stars, or gastropods) could be good for gradual introduction to invertebrates just to look at (or have extremely minor interaction in the case of sea stars)… at least from personal experience, even just looking at chill animals and being like “these things are kinda similar” can be super helpful (ik that’s the idea and both Maya and fanfan did super well here, just tryna think of new ideas to help the ppl who struggle with it)
