@@Evitaschannel I think when Orion passed it was really hard on everyone. They are probably just waiting for the right time and opportunity but I'm pretty confident there will be more falcons in Alveus future. Its the logo after all :)

@@Evitaschannel There are a lot of factors that make presenting a hawk an ordeal, there are rules to it, like you're not supposed to paint falconry in a bad light and that could mean anything, so all of their equipment has to be really clean. People don't understand they need to be restrained, so they say "why is that bird in bondage?", the bird will freak out sometimes if they get touched when they don't want to be. It's a long list but I wish it was less underground.

Cockroaches actually have a low radiation tolerance when compared to other insects. They still survive 10x the radiation we can as humans but if the world were to be purged in nuclear war, all thatd be left are weird bugs like flour beetles that have super high radiation tolerances

People greatly overestimate the radiological impact of a nuclear war. Most of the radiation spread would be due to neutron activation of debris, which tends to decay very quickly. Like 90% of the radiation would be gone within days. It's that last 10% that would stick around for a long time. The primary hazard of a nuclear war beyond the initial blasts is not the radiation, it's the nuclear winter that would be caused by so much dust and debris being thrown into the atmosphere, which would block out the sun for months if not years, making things very cold. People also greatly overestimate the impact of radiation on biology. The amount of radiation required to cause immediate health effects would dissipate very quickly. After that the issue is long term effects such as cancers. These effects can take years, even decades to present. Many species lifespans aren't long enough to begin with to suffer such effects. So though a nuclear war would be devastating to the planet and its inhabitants. Any species capable of adapting to the cold and radiation levels would thrive. Which would probably be a higher number than people think. The world would be very different from what it is today. But it would not be a dead wasteland.

​@@PlutozReal To your latter point: the whole Chornobyl _(Ukr spelling)_ incident has really shone light onto life's resilience and resistance to radiation... at least insofar as to the effects on everything BUT humans, as we are *_so damn fragile!_* Even the dogs that were left behind, survived, had offspring, and those survived, etc etc. Resulting in strange tame-feral dog packs. Or the catfish in the reactor water holding ponds, that Jeremy Wade went and caught, finding that they only suffered minor genetic degradation and no observable mutations. Not to mention the plant life is all doing just fine, with new growths! Which basically means pollinator insects are coping as well. So yea... If (when) we do screw ourselves, the planet and live will endure and life will go on, even if it's inhospitable to *human* life. 😊

Depending on where the spider is, I usually don't take them outside, I just let them be. Excellent pest control, they take care of flies before they can reproduce too much. I also have a wild garden, as in I just touch it up to make it presentable and remove invasive plants, but otherwise let it grow wild so that the local wildlife has somewhere to be. That generates a LOT of flies naturally, so I let the spiders hang out around the corners and behind furniture and stuff, so they can keep the flies out of the house. When I do need to remove them, we don't have any venomous species here that are harmful for humans, so I just pick them up with my hand and let them crawl off into a bush outside. Preferably one near the house, so they can help keep the flies from even reaching the windows.

Maya, have you ever been bitten by any of your reptiles? I had a captive bred savannah monitor who was usually quite chill except for the occasional tail whip. Once, though, he chomped down on my hand and wouldn't let go until I put him under some cold water. My palm was white for a few days because of the pressure.
