Finally found a brand new Hoodlum at a good price and for me he blows the official out of the water. I really appreciate you showing the fix to avoid the paint scratching and solidify the backpack it really makes a difference. It’s cool to see how much you’ve grown as a reviewer. Thanks for all you do helping us with your reviews!

Definite thank you for that! I am well-used to modding my toys, so I like to know about these little tweaks beforehand. Some electrical tape might do the job, do you think?

A few people said they used that, should work but you have to cut it to size, someone else told me they used velcro

It looks cool but Takara is better in articulation i prefer the look of this in bot mode but Takara has better car mode i like that he has his Targetmaster instead of getting the MP-40 version

I just got Hoodlum and while my expectations were very low given all the negativity on the forums and some other reviews on him, I actually think it's a fine piece. Not my favorite toy or anything, but I feel like I got my $90 worth of toy robot. He'll look fine on the shelf with the rest of the 1986 movie bots. Meanwhile, MP-28 will be hanging out with my forthcoming MMC Azalea.
@Tyrantcx95 жыл бұрын
You are right the Takara one looks bad in proportions but that's my opinion and doesn't fit with the 1986 movie bots because again the proportions

Isn't Takara Hot Rod in scale with the other car bots? Hot Rod SHOULD be quite a bit smaller as the matrix literally makes him in crease in size.
@TMReviews4 жыл бұрын
TT Hot rod is in scale with the other TT bots but they never made any of the movie crew, since the only 86 crew we have is FT then their hot rod scales best in my opinion; but to each their own

Great Review, thank you. My copy has some issues and i am very disapointed. One wheel got off at first, the neck doesn't hold in place and the head does not hold everything together either. At the front in Car mode there is already paint chipping. And the front light fell off too. So he is not my favorite Fans Toys figure. Hope i like him better when i transform him more often. So thank you for the comparison.

It's actually a non-slip piece for head bands from my daughter lol. It's a few bucks on Amazon. Any piece of silicone will do tho.

they're both good looking figures and well engineered. I love your talking points which makes this a good video, but I gotta role with my mp tk and my dx9 carry. I just don't see anything out there that's better. Thanks tm.

Might be..but it doesn't matter too much because you are cutting it to leave a gap in the front where the chest can sit like a groove.

The vehicle mode is okay the articulation is okay the transformation is frustrating the tak one has better transformation but i like it more than the tak one because i like the paint,more diecast,rubber tires,more clearance on the tires, better flames, but that's my opinion

Absolutely incredible! It's like night and day with the Takara release. At 4:17 Not sure what episode that picture is from, but the Takara one is based more on his Season 3 AKOM Studio version of the car (which is movie concept art) and I've felt that was a mistake they did not admit. Fans Toys Hoodlum, appears to have used the Movie Version of Dare "ride in style" look of Hot Rod that the majority all know and love. Seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHeQnGCmmbZ0rKM I can concede that the rear part of the Takara looks better, with shorter "forearm thrusters," but honestly, that is a small amount of mis-engineering I will accept on the Fans Toys. That's because so many other things that Hoodlum gets right, is head and shoulders better than the official. At 6:55 If only the canopy opened up accurately with the mid-section at the top, as seen here kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHeQnGCmmbZ0rKM then Hoodlum would be 100% perfect and accurate! At 20:33 The screw on the forearms is was what originally stopped me on the pre-order for the Takara MP Hot Rod. This is what sold Fans Toys Hoodlum to me. Proportions are so key to being a representation of the character themselves. After seeing the chest of the MP Hot Rod in hand is what told me I made the right choice on holding off on him, and is what through me off earlier. The sides, back, really don't matter in my decisions because I am not going to display Hot Rod that way, as I like the "Hot Rod there's a hole in the shuttle" attack mode. At 31:50 Great look together, except that Fans Toys Koot/MP Kup still looks like crap with that two piece chest windshield. All FT needs to do, or someone else, needs to make a once piece (maybe with that chip in it, like in the Movie). Either way, I am very glad I passed on the Takara one and pre-ordered this one. I am so stoked! Thank you so much for doing this review!
@TMReviews5 жыл бұрын
Wow that is quite the comment. Ya I am replacing my MP-28, but the clincher for me was the head mod. Once I got that articulation it was a no brainier. It's sad that Fans Toys couldn't implement such minor tweaks to really have a home run.
@CrimsonRaptors5 жыл бұрын
I hate a lot to say, haha. I agree, they could have have hit it out of the ballpark, because Takara set the bar so low. I am surprised though, because Takara has made like, what, 4 Masterpiece Hot Rod and Rodimus Primes at this point? They just keep integrating unnecessary problems and issues. While the Fans Toy Hoodlum is supposed to be all in for Hot Rod, even if they added a Rodimus faceplate. Another thing I noticed, was that watching that scene again, both Takara and Fans Toys got the "zoom glasses" wrong. They should be sharp-edge angled and not rounded like baseball glasses. Strange that two different design teams missed that.

Forgot to mention, the images I use are all the animation proofs, they aren't from any particular episode.
@CrimsonRaptors5 жыл бұрын
Ah that makes sense. I wouldn't use those because those are the animators used to take cues from. Back in the day, it made sense that toy engineers would use those. Nowadays, the practice is to take what was actually shown on the big or small screen and bring that to life.
@TMReviews5 жыл бұрын
I feel there was too much variation from episode to episode or even frame to frame to use images from the cartoon. It's all horseshoes anyways.
