@Daiton455 жыл бұрын
@@yvngsn0w Nah I get it as a long time Earl fan SRS is quite different from his old work, the only project from him that sounds somewhat similar is Solace. The sample-heavy, lo-fi sound in his new shit isn't for everyone. In my opinion, I think it's perfect for his subject matter and it suits his melancholy, off-kilter flow and Earl's writing is just incredible throughout the album. I suppose the fact that there are pretty much no hooks; it's just constant heavy beats and lyrics that are very personal to him as opposed to the more quotable Earl we've got in the past was always going to make this project divisive

P.Haze but the feeling in each instrumental along with the wordplay is what sets it apart. I really feel earls depression. In a trippier redd song he says “don’t show emotions I don’t have no heart” and it just sounds edgy for edgy’ sake but earl has s way of putting words together that are very descriptive... earl didn’t fail
@PHaze-lc9we5 жыл бұрын
I personally don't think the album is bad and I'm happy you enjoy it. What I was trying to say is that it's much more difficult to call experimental music objectively bad since it might have enjoyable properties that some people, like you, are able to see and others, like me, aren't. Music might be the most subjective art form in existence, which is why I generally hesitate to say an album sucks just because I don't enjoy it. Hell, I don't enjoy TPAB, but never in a thousand years I'd dare to call that a bad album.

Really, I wouldn't consider it actively BAD until 4/10 and below. But yeah, they are hundreds of albums which did not get 10/10s that Fantano has gone on record to use the word "good" when describing them as a whole. On the topic of Brazil, let's not forget metal. Sepultura was obviously the most well known but chakal and mutilator also came out of there I believe

Lets argue: music nowadays doesnt have the same lasting effect that older tracks had, we have such an influx of so many different styles, mediums and sources that its not the same feeling that many of us had through radio and old school youtube had. Even bands like the black eyed peas were made to be so much more iconic due to the radio and the feeling invoked from the radio producers....and im from Ireland! Music is just not as memorable, because there's so much of it..ALL THE TIME!

The whole industry has been diluted by a lessened attention span and a constant need for new projects...almost bi-annually

Nah , it's been 10 years and people are still bumping Good Kid Maad City ,MBDTF, and The Money Store It may seem like older music had more staying power but that's only because the stuff people remember was the cream of the crop,there's way more music that has gone completely forgotten because it wasn't that good, like people seem to think the 70s was the best decade ever for music but if you look at what topped the charts you'll see the most bland easy listening shit imaginable

I would have said the most recent Russian artist to make waves in western music was Pussy Riot

P sure most music fails at being experimental.

Ironically most music that gets designated as 'ultra-experimental' is extremely derivative. Comparatively Earl is super experimental

And let's be honest... Giving BTI by Gambino a 5/10 is A LOT WORSE than any other review you've ever gotten wrong.

BTI has aged flawlessly. Deserves a revisit.

Re-review is waiting. Not a perfect record but it definitely would sit more comfortably at an 8/10
