I could be wrong, but I feel like the real turning point came a couple years back when he got heavily harassed by the internet after writing and posting his own ending for Batman v Superman. Even his family was getting hate mail and phone calls. He made a video on it, you can see how deeply disturbed he was by it all. It also damaged his ego pretty severely. I'm not saying there aren't other reasons for why he comes off so jaded now, I'm sure it's more complex than that. I mean people get old and tired. but I think that was the day his attitude toward the internet, and his own fans to a degree, changed. The desire to prove himself waned and he stopped thinking that people online actually cared about him as a person, but instead were fickle jackals that would turn on you at a moment's notice. That sounds extreme, but if you saw the video, you know what I'm talking about. I'm also sure that his stalled dream of becoming a filmmaker plays a part. I guess most youtubers get like that over time.

I just walked out of Fant4stic. Chris is NOT exaggerating. Worst movie I've seen in years and worst superhero movie in a long time, maybe ever. Give me 2005 Fantastic Four over this ANY DAY! Nothing was redeeming about this. My friend, who has bad taste in movies and thought Transformers 4 was good, hated this movie. That is how awful it is. Do not go see it. And those of you who don't go, I will forever be jealous of you. I could have used that $10 to buy a good Fantastic 4 comic trade paperback. I genuinely love 2005 FF now because of this. At least I felt something for The Thing. At least Johnny's banter was funny. At least Sue and Reed had the smallest amount of chemistry. FANT4STIC MOVIE HAD NOTHING! VFX? SHIT! Writing? SHIT! Acting? They did what they could, but still not good for what it should be. Antagonist? Worst superhero villain ever! You think Ronan, Darren Cross, Ultron etc. have no development? You don't see Von Doom for the entire middle of the film! Then he pops and starts ruining shit. Okay, I'm done.

No sympathy for Trank. There is a decades old convention whereby a director can demand his name be removed and replaced by "Alan Smithee" should he be so outraged by enforced changes to his opus. Trank could and should have done so. Much better films have suffered this fate.

Dayreel The thing is, Marvel's had a pretty good track record of making films that are solid in their own right. Even their origin films like Iron Man and Captain America: The First Avenger were rockin' awesome! Even anomalies like Iron Man 2 were better than this. That film was just setting things up for The Avengers instead of being entertaining. But Marvel learned from that and was like "NOPE! Let's never do that again! Make every film count!" The key, which Marvel's been getting an A on here, is to make interconnected films that are interesting individually. Fox is only doing half the job. They're trying to make an interconnected world, but they're not making the film interesting in its own right, because that's not the shiny new trick in business.

The movie isn’t great at all, but there are one or two interesting moments. While not amazingly well executed, the idea of their powers at first seeming horrific when they hadn’t learned to control them had potential. The Thing as a pile of rocks and Johnny permanently on fire were really cool. I would have enjoyed them exploring that a little more. Also, the way they made Susan storm adopted had potential, but they wasted it. With development, It could have been made more important to the themes of the movie, emphasizing the idea that blood or not, they are a family. After all, the big thing about the Fantastic Four is that they are a family. The sad thing is the cheapo Roger Corman movie was the only one to ever really get that family dynamic. Also it had the best over the top Dr Doom.

Marvel on the other hand has a glass case full on display and makes sure they in good shape. IronWolf122 your halfway right. marvel had just got back the rights to daredevil, blade, and punisher and tried to package them to fox as a co-production in exchange for access to characters from x-men and the fantastic four. fox sat on the deal until two weeks before the reversion and then rejected it. im happy tho we probably would of never got a deadpool movie or the daredevil netflix series if the deal fell through

The sad part is they didn't Josh Trank was really excited for the film and the cast defended it to death. It would be better if it was just a cashgrab because it would be easier to hate it but it seems they were trying to make a good film and it went to shit.

He states that Supergirl is so hilarious that it even got made, and this movie is the same way in that regard. Chris also hates this movie's guts, so since Supergirl was a Hilariocity, I think this film should be one too. Oh, and Dragonball Evolution is a Hilariocity, and Chris says that's his most hated film in that video.
