Alpha Bet your right, since 35 million was worth more back then. This was made in 1984- same year as back to the future. To put the affects into perspective the original star wars had a budget of 11 million in 1975 money, which meant that 11 million was worth a little more than it would by 84 but not to much. This wasnt some no name movie they could have probably gotten ilm to work on the affects. But nope they were done by 5 year olds

You're so wrong, cocaine was as close to pur then, now it's cut so much there's hardly any in it. Pot has improved and maybe certain other drugs but cocaine today is complete crap comparing to the early 80's...I'm 56 years old so the 80's were my twenty's...I lived it.
@augustwest53567 жыл бұрын
Robert Armstrong you are 100% correct. the only "drug" thats gotten better over the years is pot. everything else has taken a nose dive. hell, im 34 and ive seen the quality and quantity of LSD completely drop to almost nothing since my high school days, and the price has gone WAAAAAY up. sheets of really good quality blotter acid in the 90s were $100, and 1 hit was PLENTY. At least in the chicago area thats how it was. Last I heard kids were charging in excess of $10 a hit and it was super dirty. im far too old to be taking that shit any more though. @@NostalgiaBrit Really? Good to know she's still got a career, even after starring in this trainwreck. Kind of ironic how she went from being Supergirl to being Supergirl's adoptive mother. Funny how that works. It's not like she didn't do a good job in this movie, but the movie itself was beyond salvaging, as soon as she used her heat vision to bloom a flower. And then, when she used her heat vision normally, I guess? So, Supergirl can change how her heat vision works now? Is it like adjusting the level? So, Superman, can only destroy things with his heat vision? So, she's about creation, and Kal is about destruction? Maybe that's why he's a bad guy in the Injustice games... She was also Talia Al' Guhl too on the Batman Animated series? Didn't know that. But I do love the Batman animated series. I'd love to see another Batman animated series, as good as the ones from the 90's. With Kevin Conroy as the voice of Batman again. Glad he's still doing the voice of Batman, even after all this time, from the Batman Arkham games to the straight to DVD/Bluray Batman movies to the Injustice games. I hope he keeps playing Batman, even when he's an old man, like in Batman Beyond. It would kind of come full circle then, wouldn't it?

Unfortunately, you may have seen the edited version. For some weird reason the US DVD release had things removed from the movie, that actually explained some things. For example, in one edited version, the fight scene at the abandon amusement part is cut, while in another version it is only half there. Remember the same people who made this movie are the exact same people who made the Reeve Superman movies. In addition, in the full movie version, Supergirl wakes up on the school grounds after searching all night. She knows the device is nearby, and uses the school as a base of operation. She also mentions in the movie; she does not want people to know she is there. Viola a hide out. Also, her home city is in “Inner-Space”, and after she has the device, she goes home and as she gets closer to the city, the city’s lights start coming back on. It the movie isn’t an A, but more of a C- in the scheme of 80ties movies.

From what I have read, Peter O' Toole was absolutely WASTED throughout the filming of his scenes. He pretty much just ad libbed whatever nonsense came to his booze-soaked head in order to see how much he could get away with before he was cut entirely out of the film. But the producers paid for Peter freaking O'Toole, and dammit, they were going to use him!

I don't think Peter O'Toole should be criticized for his acting in this movie. I'm certain he figured out pretty quickly what a pile of crap he'd gotten himself into, so he just decided to go along with it and overact the hell out of his part.
