fantastic results boosting a small hive in only 2 weeks

Two weeks ago I boosted this tiny overwintered cluster which had 2 half frames of brood over a strong overwintered colony separating them with some newspaper and a queen excluder. Look at these results in just 14 days.

I never would have thought of that. Great idea! I only have 10 colonies but two of them are weaker. I may equalize and then stack in this manner. If I feed as someone else suggested the results may prove to be interesting. Great idea!

If you feeding on the top of weakness hive, you will attract faster the bees from the bottom hive and you make this work faster.

Hello I’m down here in southern Maine. I would like to ask your opinion on nucs. I have been using quite a bit of medium sized brood boxes and I normally will use that size for my mating nucs and I will start off my own nucs that way. I have both deep and medium size 5 frame boxes. Do you think 5 frame medium nucs would be a good product? Same idea as the deep only as a medium. Or would you think that is too small for a northern person to buy? I’m also wondering how much if any would be the price difference? Maybe you don’t make them like that but you could share your thoughts if you have the time. I believe many people like using all medium sized and it works better for me to make them

They work but I make sure if a make a special order medium nuc I have 4 frames of brood or more rather than a minimum or 3 for deeps. I charge the same as it is extra work for me to make specials.

You're saying that you have a queen in the bottom box and a queen in the top box and the workers are moving between the 2 boxes?

Can you do this with two species of bees?

It will be more risky between races but it still works....maybe use three sheets of paper with littlw holes to slow the process.
