Just got to kylar stern, I thinly our drastically underestimating him. Using his "talent" he can cleave through multiple humans in one sword swing, jump higher, move faster, etc. He was trained by a nearly immortal assassins who has more experience than anyone ever, and none of this even brings into it the black ka'kari(sp?)

If you include the black ka'kari (nicknamed the devourer), he can resurrect (gaining any lost limbs) turn invisible, can magically "consume" like 99% of things that exist. One of the only things that can kill him through the Ka'kari was his universe's version of Callandor.

Kelsier (minus atium) was also forced to flee keep venture while injured, only taking down about a dozen or so guys because he got beaten up by the hazekillers. He isn't unstoppable, though there's still more to learn about him, especially regarding the very OP bands of mourning.

Atium is COMPLETELY overpowered. Being able to predict (and react to) the other person's moves without consequence is almost unbeatable, only done by Vin (who is soooo much more powerful than Kelsier) using a fair bit of luck and a skill level and knowledge of Atium that none of the other characters would have Assuming there is no Atium in the equation, Kelsier's ability to manipulate metal makes him extremely powerful nevertheless

I'd say the week long contest where we was swimming in the Norse seas while fully armed and armored, fighting off multiple sea monsters along the way could be argued as his most impressive feat. Especially as it was presented almost as an aside when laying out the justification for why he would be able to defeat Grendel when no others in Hrothgar's court had proven capable of doing so.

This is why I didn't want Mat in this. His luck just screws everything up in a ranking/fight. If you take his luck to its full theorized power, He would even kill Rake and Moridin. On the other hand, if you say he's just a lucky guy, Beowulf or even Rayla would make short work of him. RJ could have explained the full extent of his luck a lot better, but oh well. Also my man Daniel sleeping on Kylar Stern here. Without the Black Ka'kari his ranking is pretty fair, but with it, he's the most broken character in Brent Weeks' writing. He should easily be able to kill Gavin Guile, Weeks other character, especially in a stealth situation. I would say he could even kill Moridin, though who knows. The only one who I would say would safely be out of Kylar's Reach is Rake. Because Rake is broken.

You forget mats' fight with the golam in camelin. He is a really good fighter even without luck, enough to drive a golam where he want, and avoid getting hit by him, only with an amulet mounted on spear. He would definetly defeat most regular fighter on the list with such ability

@@yoavshamir9055 Yes, which is why I'd still have him in the Powerful Tier even without luck. Rayla and Beowulf are Superhuman fighters though, which is why I wouldn't see him beating them without extra help. In terms of straight up fighting skill, he would probably be better than them though. Everyone on the list including and above Rayla has some sort of special ability however. So just skill alone wouldn't cut it. The problem with Mat's special ability is it's too hard to judge effectively.

You didn't even mention them, she makes an entire army of illusions at one point, and if you guess wrong on which is the real Shallan it's one swipe of the Shardblade and almost everyone on that list is dead whether she's good at swinging it or not. IMO she ends up beating anyone that can't decimate an entire army or has mind reading powers.

Spoilers for Mistborn, Fable, Wheel of Time, The fallen and the faithful below Sazed. When you are a literal god you gain god level Marsh Ironeyes. Overpowered. All the powers of the steel inquisitor is nothing to scoff at. Immortality is a bonus and when you are known as a diety of death you have your career set straight Perrin Aybara. Powerful usually. Battling him in the dream world? Hes extremly powerful if not godlike able to merely think away harms coming his way. Hero of Oakvale: Overpowered. His vast array of spells alone is incredible. Slow time alone is completely broken, healing and shield is too, his endurance and strength is very strong and hes also quick and sneak. The full package Jack of Baldes: Overpowered. Hero killing megalomaniac sadist. Give him the sword of Aeons and you could consider him for god-level Hero of Bowerstone: Powerful. Weaker in spell than the ancestor, but much stronger with firearms. Slow time is still there Corban: Powerful. Incredibly caple warrior able to kill stronger oponents by wit Maquin: Powerful. Survives insane deals, objectively denied death to pursue his target and goes through hell and back for vengance.

@@ncthomas420 I think Mat's ranking is running on the assumption he only has channeling immunity. Which makes sense, seeing as it's duplicated with the One Power, so it's not a mysterious divine quality. Mat would be at the top of overpowered if he was immune to all magic.

I read somewhere that when The Witch King was defeated, Merry used a dagger that was specifically designed to kill the Witch King. When he stabbed him, it made him mortal for a brief amount of time, and that's when Eowyn put in the final blow on The Witch King. But yet again those weapons are rare. I would put him a lot higher cuz he's almost unbeatable with just ordinary weapons. Fight me daniel. Lol

Bruh Rake is God level. He is carrying around Drganipur, you'll have to read this excerpt from Toll the Hounds where it gets demonstrated just how much of a burden Dragnipur is. Anomander takes the sword off and the whole world around him starts weeping. The world itself can barely hold the weight of Dragnipur, and the burden Rake carries gets put into perspective. He can best swordsman in the Malazan universe with a sword so heavy that the world itself cant hold it up. Also he has godly magic levels and can warp into a dragon. He has for aeons just been chilling around, untouchable by the powers of the Malazan worlds, doing as he likes and getting involved where he pleases. Definitely god tier, im not going to spoil the ending for you, but his gambits throughout the series are amazing as well.

He wrecked rock column just by colliding with them while chasing Ozai, compressed fucking rocks then shattered one of them and used the pieces as bullets destroying several rock columns, created 4 big fire blasts at the same time, can easily control the water of an entire lagoon...

Kvothe is powerful, but situationally. His naming is unreliable, sympathy requires him to be able to focus and have time to get his bearings, artificiary requires preparation before the fight, and his sword and hand to hand skills are above average but not good by Adem standards. So middle of the powerful tier maybe, situation dependent. Most of his skills are for non combat situations

Voldemort is nowhere near as strong as Dumbledore in a fight. If Dumbledore goes all in willing to kill him, he's so done (except for the horcruxes). And that's considering Dumbledore's very old. Don't forget that Dumbledore managed to defeat Grindelwald (who was a remarkably powerful wizard and was using the Elder Wand) in combat.

Lone Wolf Voldemort is an extremely powerful and cunning wizard. Dumbledore is an incredibly powerful genius who wields the Elder Wand. And we can all agree that Dumbledore is way more intelligent than Voldemort is. The only instance we see them face one another, Dumbledore fights him off with real ease, considering he's trying to protect Harry. I'm talking about the book version when he's just waving his wand around lazily and keeping Voldemort at bay while sending an animated statue to the Minister and protecting Harry all at once and Voldemort is attacking with all he's got. The movie version is very different, Dumbledore is really struggling to fight him in it.

Yes. Rake is easily overpowering Smaug. One touch of the sword alone means an eternal servitude until death hauling the house of shadow. The blade doesn't have to kill Smaug, it just has to touch him.

Like much of the magic in that universe, the black arrow's properties are ambiguous; from the actual text we only know that the arrow has never missed and never been lost or broken. The text strongly suggests that the reason magic was needed was to hit the tiny vulnerable spot, which is Mat's best party trick. I dunno that Mat is more powerful than Smaug on any kind of linearized scale, but Mat is paper to Smaug's rock.

You are underestimating shallan! I think with her illusions and with pattern, she can definitely play the stealth game quite well. Battle experience or not, if she can get the jump on people or make them show their hand first, that shardblade is gonna do some work.

He is a mage-assassin, trained to kill as effectively and efficiently as possible, he takes down squads of giant elite warriors while missing a hand, having just beaten the king of an enemy kingdom and his entourage and just says that he'll have to put some effort now, and that was about the end of the second book, by the end of the third book he was out in a massive battlefield killing countless enemies by slashing their tendons and arteries and moving on, think he manages to kill a colosus-like creature singlehandedly and then goes on to fight a goddess (woman with the white kakari and original hero that was praised as a giddess but still)

Sure, she can stave off an army, given she is a good and safe distance away, but could she fight someone like Szeth rushing her headlong? Her skill set isn't really suited for fighting, which isn't to say she's not powerful - she's just not a warrior. Maybe if she had proper martial training, then, without a doubt, we could put her in the 'overpowered' tier. Right now, though, not too sure.

What she did in the battle wouldn't have worked as well in a 1 v 1 situation though. I fully agree with imakanobody. She's not a trained fighter, and that makes a difference. If any of the higher placements came at her aiming to kill, she'd be overwhelmed.

Chuckyscookie she’s not that easy to find though. I agree she’s not overpowered, but she should be higher up in powerful. She’s great at sneaking with illusions, and could make great distractions so that her opponents turn away from her. Attacking from behind when your opponent believes you to be elsewhere doesn’t require nearly as much skill as other combat. Plus, most opponents would probably not expect a blade that can’t be stopped trough normal means. Chances are, Shalan’s first attack does serious damage, whereas the first attack of anyone against her would most likely result in her healing.

The way I see it, if she can sneak up close to the opponent, they are dead. Even if they are fast enough to deal a death blow, she'd heal from that and could immediately attack with her shardblade. Unless their healing is as good as hers, and I don't think anyone's is, they're dead. If she were facing off with someone with roughly equivalent stealth but better combat, then she's in trouble.

I think, given the scenario of abandoned mansion that I assume none of the characters know the layout of, shallan would have a huge advantage due to her illusions. No one would be able to find her and assuming she has pattern with her, she would always get the drop on everyone.

She'd have a chance at a surprise attack. But I'm not sure if she'd be able to immediately kill someone of higher tier. She's not that proficient with soulcasting (yet). For most of the fighters above her, I don't think she could put out enough power to incapacitate them.

Kylar Stern can literally turn invisible for as long as he wants and devour any magic that touches him. In terms of stealth he out does all of them. Oh and he can literally see magic so he might be able to pierce the illusions.

If the situation is spooky mansion mission, then I think you really underestimated Shallan here. Yes, she has minimal combat experience but her lightweaving (which you didn't mention) is absolutely clutch in stealth situations, providing a variety of ways to distract and divert her enemies' attention. Keeping in mind that she can tank multiple hits while wielding a weapon that cannot be blocked (unless by invested/magical items), then I think she would be able to create situations where she'd be able to take down several of those currently set above her.

This is going to be the first time I disagree with you, Daniel. Kylar at the end of his series is either the upper end of over powered or the lower end of god tier. He’s immortal, canonically the strongest mage currently alive thanks to the ka’kari, and is able to turn invisible. Did I mention immortal? Like he “dies” multiple times in the series and just kinda shrugs it off. Also, his predecessor was literally a majority of the major heroes in the lore. The author even said he wasn’t going to continue writing stories for Kylar because at the end of the series he was so powerful that nothing was a significant enough threat to him.

Yeah, when Daniel said that she’d be taken down by stealth I was very confused. She might not have fighting experience, but she does have experience creating very realistic illusions. Unless she’s up against someone who tears the whole house down or has exceptional senses, she could just hide and create a distraction to get a surprise attack. You don’t need to be good at combat to be able to hit someone from behind when they expect you to be in front. Especially since most defensive actions that aren’t ‘evade’ are going to fail.

Yeah agreed, I was very confused that her main feats were completely ignored - especially in a confusing setting (like the aforementioned mansion) she could pull all kinds of tricks, and she's definitely intelligent enough to come up with those. All of this considered, she could definitely take down most of the Overpowered tier. (And then she's also just on her way and, as you said, not very practiced with Soulforgery yet. We'll see where she goes because she could go places.)

I feel like Zuko could take the witch king at least. In the fellowship of the ring the wraiths run away screaming and burning after Aragorn thrusts a torch in their face. Getting a big ass ball of fire hurled at you in tight enclosed spaces should be able to win you that fight.. Although the witch king would come back, just not while Zuko is still in the house, which was the premise.

that is in the movies not the books, in the books it was their unexpected resistance that shocked him which made him go away. He was also under a spell by Sauron that chained his spirit to the earth so he couldn’t die and made him invulnerable to all weapons and heavily poisoning the wielder of the weapon. he only got defeated by being stabbed by a blade that was bewitched to specifically break the spell, so after the spell was broken by Merry, Éowyn could actually kill him because he wasn’t chained to the earth anymore.

I'd say Smaug is way overrated here. He is a dragon, sure, but some of these are just crazy. I mean, Thanos' durability alone puts him above Smaug. Also, all the power that is shown in the books was great armor (in a place where he would be up against swords and arrows, so it immediately makes it less impressive than the arsenal he has to go against in any of these matchups), fire, which, of course, would be a weakness in any town such as Esgaroth, and flying, negating the effect of swords mainly. I also have to point out, about the witch-king of Angmar, that though he defeats Gandalf in the movie, that was an invention of Peter Jackson, and one of the worst things about the extended versions. I love the movies, but seriously, Gandalf would destroy the Witch-King. He is pretty much a corrupted man leading armies. He won some battles, lost some battles, and sure, uses fear. Also, the witch-king is not impervious to male attacks. The movies just put it that way, but in reality, it is just that he lost a battle, fled, and Earnur wanted to follow him and kill him. Glorfindel told him: "Do not pursue him! He will not return to these lands. Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man shall he fall." It is not that it can't be by the hand of a man, just a prophecy stating that it won't be in the story. He is powerful, no more, no less. Veil would be stealthy, durable, manipulative, and with Pattern, could create very valuable diversions. With a shardblade at her disposal, I don't see how Smaug would deal with a surprise attack from her. With lightweaving alone, she could drive many higher tier opponents crazy. Just her tactical advantages due to manipulation and deception are off the charts. Radiant is also quite strong and confident, and has been training with Adolin. Not very experienced, sure, but that is something. Another thing I would like to touch on is that some powers work against certain opponents, and less so on others. For instance, fire bending would be useless against a dragon, sure, but others may be weak to fire. There are many rock, paper, scissors situations. So I would say stopping at one point because there is this one opponent that counters your character is not the best approach. Better would be to see how they would fare overall. Maybe a point system with factors such as: Physical strength, damage output, defense potential, magic, speed, luck, stealth, arsenal, versatility, range, manipulation (deception), weakness (and whether it would be easy or hard to capitalize on it)

-Bryan- Thanos is literally immortal, he has been banned from the realm of Death, once when the multiverse was destroyed because of his immortality he stayed alive in a slim pocket of the universe meaning he can survive waves that wipe you from existence. Also Thanos’ force field withstood blasts from Galactus and Odin. He can also throw an energy blast of cosmic energy with 500 intensity according to Marvel that’s like being constantly battered by the Hulk at full enraged. And if this wasn’t enough he withstood a punch and blast from Magus who had the Infinity Gauntlet.

If you are saying that the rankings would stay the same if they were all in shorts, a t-shirt and running shoes then all good... Would a Jedi stay in place without their light-saber? Honestly, I think Anomander is god-tier. He's practically a literal god... okay he's not, but he IS an ascendant. Dude single handedly took on four high mages, and three other powerful mages. High Mages are No Joke, and would each be in over-powered themselves. Also without spoiling anything specifically, Anomander has definitely killed at least a couple gods.

Ok, I don't know all of these characters, but I do know Beowulf, and I do know Zuko. Even if you make Zuko's firebending more powerful than it is depicted in the show, Beowulf would devour with little to no issues. This mf killed nine seamonsters, Grendal who is immune to mortal weapons so he just ripped the mf arm off, and was able to survive fighting a dragon despite getting bit through the throat and being drenched in fire. Now I am not saying he could kill Smaug or even a jedi but my man deserves to be in Overpowered tier

The issue with the Witch King is simply that he is a ghost whose soul is bound to his ring, and thus he doesn't actually "pass one" when killed, and one top of that, you have to deal with the whole Black Breath deal when killing him. Particularly if done up close in melee. To which, "not actually dying" is really just an issue of what is being counted as a "win" here, but the Black Breath... is likely to be a major issue to anyone he is up against. Particularly if their main weapon is melee based. Sure they might "beat" him... but they'll be dead.

It's so hard to do things like this because it's so circumstantial. Link is just a wildcard depending on which game you pull him from. Some of the lower tier characters could beat a specific higher tier character. Overall though Daniel does a good job!

LINK IS GOD TIER! Do you know know what the triforce of courage does? DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT DOES?! The triforce of courage gives link infinite opportunities to conquer any challenge. Every time he dies or fails he just goes back a little ways to try again. Like Tom Cruise in edge of tomorrow but better. He is also destined to have the help of zelda and zelda has the triforce of wisdom which let's her like see into time and shit to help link figure out what to do. In breath of the wild, Link was locked away for 100 years while ganon ruled. Locking link away to protect him was a mistake. If Link had stayed fighting in his original time he would have just kept dieing and respawning until he conquered ganondorf Link is God tier powerful. The only argument I could see for him just being the very top overpowered is that you could argue actual Gods could possibly overpower the Triforce of courage, as it is a gift from gods. But Smaug is going to lose to link. If it can be defeated the Link is more Powerful. He will always win in the end. Always always
