If we were on the brink of nuclear war why would the government issue a warning to New York and LA but not Montana where we store hundreds of our own nuclear weapons which would 100% be targeted. Solely referring to the middle east as if it's one singular country. Not really much depth to what the radio host is saying at all.

The Patriot Acts mission also sheds some light. Russian involvement in the cult was discovered, but the CIA Agent had to leave in urgency due to "Larger fish to fry". Edens Gate's involvement with Russia would be considered a large fish (especially if the CIA was tasked as this would be a major no no on US Soil), so something MUCH more serious was going on outside.

This could be true but before debating on it we must be sure if the ending was real or hallucination. Also in these announcement it always talks about a tension between North Korea and USA not between Russia and USA. And It says Russia has been hit, but doesn't say the USA was responsible. Though, the cult having an involvement in Russia's plans is possible it is not known if the nuclear ending has anything to do with it.

North Korea wouldn't have enough nukes to hit that many targets in the US, let alone long-range missiles, to "waste" some shots in Montana. Those are obviously russian nukes. The situation in North Korea escalated to an US-Russia nuclear war. Can't say whether USA or NK nuked Moscow though.

Assuming real, and not hallucination, it's important to remember the days of SIOP. Considering how difficult decision making is in the early stages of a nuclear crisis, the most dangerous time is in these early moment, as land based ICBMs are in their "Use them or lose them" moments. It's not a long flight time, assuming the incoming are coming from land based launch points, so, 30 minutes, tops. If the attack is by sub, 5-6 minutes? So, all decision making is designed to happen quickly. The president has the ability to issue launch orders in around 4 minutes. It's very easy for something to go wrong, or to misread a threat. It's frankly more amazing than anything that, given a history of accidents and malfunctions through the cold war, that no such mistake occurred. Just ask Stanislav Petrov how close we came.

People prefer to pretend that nothing wrong is going and such scenario is totallt extremely impossible, but, rise and shine, IT IS POSSIBLE (hope will never happen). The AoC Gamer It won't be a full game. It will be a stand-alone story kinda DLC like since they describe it as "standalone sequel". So instead of accepting nukes ending as cannon they are going for the possibility what would happen if it was real IMO. And I didn't see anything that supports bombs dropped back then other than they are saying so, in that trailer. The world is not post-apocalyptic in any way. I like how they threw "Montana is not expected to be effected, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW" and then a Nuke JUST SO HAPPENS to go off right at the moment you arrest Joseph. So unless you were sitting next to the radio tower, you would have never even heard this broadcast. Wouldn't it have been smarter and better if when you cleared the territories that the radio signals got through to the entire map, that way whenever you were on route to the chapel at the end this would have been fucking obvious? Hell, it could have been part of a cut scene, or played over the loud speakers in the bunkers. But I guess that would have been asking too much.

there was some news going on on the radio during the john seed mission but it was cut off by all the gunfire. It was saying something about crop yields being 1/3 their estimates and the government recommending something... maybe there's more radio transmissions hidden that lead up to all of this. Think you could see anything about that?

It started right as I got into the drivers seat of the car with the turret after the scene in the church, where they have the pastor, Nick Rye, and the other girl (if you haven't noticed I'm not good with names) at gunpoint with the pastor guy being forced to repeat what John says and you have the choice to say yes. Immediately after entering the car the radio turned on with that news playing, but unfortunately, about half of what I heard was drowned out by the gunfire of all the people attacking you while you chase John, and it got cut off by I THINK me getting hit by another car. It's possible that there might be another way to get it to play, but I don't know it. Maybe It's because I took a helicopter straight to falls end? It might just play the first time you get in a car after John Seed tells you to come to Falls End over the radio because he has hostages... IDK, I hope you figure it out.

Yeah, for all I know, there might be things like that hidden before ALL the members of the seed families final missions. I mean, it WOULD be a pretty cool easter egg. Though that would depend on if this isn't just something that comes on randomly throughout the game or something

Yes, there are some more announcements before John's final mission including the one you said about crops. Though only one about nuclear war is the one saying North Korea makes tests. I will record and upload them too. 😉 I can't check if there are similar messages before other lieutenants because they grab you as soon as you get outside in their region before their final mission. And I tried to check radio in John's region before killing Jacob but didn't get anything special.

I played the game twice and not once did i hear such an announcement in the game. It's like if you don't listen to these reports you won't understand the ending. For me, I didn't understand why randomly a nuke exploded. I thought Joseph Seed had his hands on a nuclear weapon and set it off

Just finished this game. I think Joseph set off the nukes as a last resort so that his ''plan'' would work. I have a theory that Joseph is not only a cult leader but a Project at Eden's Gate leader, since Eden's Gate is a project. To me, it sounds more like a government experiment rather than an all out conflict of nations. Since Montana is isolated and has around 150 Minuteman nuclear missile silos, and since there are so many bunkers, since whole area is covered in mountains and high ground, and since cultists are called Peggies, it only makes sense for this theory to be true and not to just a theory. I mean, it's highly likely that it's all an experiment since Joseph is required to indoctrinate and successfully finish the project which is total control of Hope County, but as the Deputy managed to arrest him and cease his plans, the only way to coverup the whole experiment was to spray the whole Hope County in nukes and later blame the whole thing on ''malfunction'' or ''terrorist attack''. Kinda convenient since there are many silos around since I've read that Hope County is based on Cascade, it makes even more sense as Cascade is surrounded by nuclear silos. I may be wrong, but North Korea doesn't have that many nukes, and we literally see several nuclear weapons just exploding, no nuclear counter-attack, just explosions in the time it took to get to the bunker. It's safe to say that everyone of importance such as Seed family, Deputy and more are all indoctrinated/controlled by government, all pawns in a government project.

If you ask me the first shot is likely to come from China. They actually have bombs bigger than a couple of kilotons, and the means to deliver them. In the crashed plane in which you can also find the Sam Fisher outfit there is a screen on which you can see along the USA and Alaska and the information from Far Cry 6 after Kyrat red dots that are supposed to represent the atom explosions. We also know that the atomic bombs that exploded in Hope County came from Kyrat. But you don't see red dots on this screen in Europe, Russia or anywhere else. Does this mean that this recording was from the beginning of the nuclear war or that really only these parts were affected? That wouldn't fit with the radio info.

The US govt removed them upon decommissioning the silos (although this doesn't explain how the computers are still running, although maybe the cult turned the computers back on) 2 Somehow the US govt forgot these silos existed and the cult found them, over an unknown period of time they dismantled the missiles and retrieved their warheads.

There's actually decommissioned silos all over the country and you can buy them. There's actually people put there who have turned them into homes, and there's a plan in Kansas to turn one into an apartment complex. They're nothing like seen in the game, the games silos are massive and make no sense, the complexes aren't like that. Real silo complexes are a lot smaller. So with Jacob being the "money handler lawyer" of the cult, they could have easily purchased decommissioned silos.

My idea to connect the "it was real therory" and the "hallucination" therory is that you did hallucinate but you only see the nukes because of what you heard on the radio and the hallucination with faith, also the nuked falls end background is a reminder of your bad dreams, but its just my therory(comment if you have something to add on to it)

I think maybe the whole thing can be a hallucination at all from reaching to the church. Because the Father kidnapping whole your friends drugging with Bliss and brainwashing them all by himself doesn't seem logical to me. Also if you pay attention the storm starts before he topples the Bliss barrels and no one seems surprised. And another thing that may be considered as a clue. We don't see the Father coming outside from the church in game. Cutscene starts when we get close. Maybe Rook didn't even see the Father maybe he wasn't even there and he started hallucinating because he is in the place where all traumatic events started not long ago. What do you think about this?

I remembering a news report that mentioned a sphere and an accident that resulted in deaths. A lot of it ended up cut off by NPCs talking. I didn't hear much of it and might have misheard. When I heard it, I thought it was an AC reference. However, given this game's ending, I don't see how the two series could be taking place in the same universe.

I didn't hear that broadcast but I mostly used chopper instead of a car so I had to listen for them specifically sitting in a car for hours to get the announcements. It is possible I missed some. Though AC series can take place in the same universe actually, the Abstergo part I mean. And the artifact they are using and being searched by Abstergo in the present day is called Apple of Eden. So that news or even the name of the cult can be some reference to AC or some kind of an easter egg. Maybe The Father was able to learn about future by using that artifact?! My bad on the name, I've played the AC games, so I should have remembered. I only heard that broadcast once on a radio on a table outside of a vehicle. Sorry for the lack of info. I only heard it once and NPC conversations and other world noise drowned out much of it. I think I might (must?) have been imagining things. It seemed interesting at first because some do say Far Cry and Assassin's Creed take place in the same universe. However, the ending for this game would seem to make that impossible or highly unlikely depending on the direction Ubisoft is going to take AC.

Yeah I wonder the direction of AC afterwards Origins too. Though it is possible for them take place in the same universe, I think we should learn some things about the Nuclear war in AC Origins because there are messages sent from the future in game and they don't say anything about this. Maybe they were sent before this nuclear war. Or they survived the war or simply Far Cry 5's story is written after AC Origins. Probably there are more broadcasts like these but as you said it is usually cut by NPC talks and gunfires so it is hard to catch them all. But I'd like to see clues about each game in the other one. 👍😉

In the opening cinematic of the game, they say that the Peggies took control of the radio station. And being that all of the "news reports" are voiced by the same person, no matter time of day, they could very well be fake reports from the Peggies to scare any residents of Hope County that are hearing them into willing joining Eden's Gate. That also makes sense why when the sheriff turns on the radio in the 'Walk Away' ending, it's already playing "Only You". Also, if other countries were going to launch nukes on the U.S., the most likely targets would be: D.C., N.Y.C., or L.A., ...not middle of nowhere Montana. I think that Joseph was the one responsible for the launch, setting a timer just before exiting the church to meet you. AND, I don't think they were nukes! If there were 3 nukes detonated that closely together...they wouldn't have had time to even take shelter inside the church, much less make it all the way to Dutch's bunker. I think the stress Joseph had about becoming a father was already pushing him to his limit and the death of his wife pushed him overboard. Realizing he would have all the same stresses, plus potential health problems of having a prematurely born child and having to now do it all by himself, I think he had a schizophrenic break and the "voice of God" he hears is just his own delusional mind.

On the first play through I missed these broadcasts. But now with this, and the context that the cult had built fall out shelters makes the ending make MUCH more sense. On top of that, it adds to the message that your a mindless tool. Because instead of just following missions and blindly raiding outposts, you could have caught on that shit was going down. But instead of preparing for the worst, you were the catalyst that undid Peggies efforts for survival. You actively screwed over so many people. If you had just listened, you could have saved your friends, and possibly evacuated. But no, you saw the Seeds as nothing but a threat. You set your mind to do nothing but to take out your target, region by region. And in a way, your mindless violence almost made you as bad as the Peggies. Kind of messed up when you take a closer look

Now I have a little question, if there truly are such crisis going on the during before/during the events of the game, that has the potential to go nuclear, would the US then spend time/resources to arrest one leader of a cult? out in Montana, and then there are what others have mentioned, the cult have the radiostation/s in the area under there control so who truly knows? in what we hear there.

Ofc no one knows for sure other than the story writers. But we can deduce from what we know. Even though the Father had nukes nobody knew it so US spending resources to end it, is unlikely also they sent someone to arrest him already. And as its is told in the beginning cutscene cops inside Montana are bought by the cult too so nobody is willing to do anything. And it wasn't the cult who bombed Montana. I believe there is enough evidence for it. It is right that radio station was owned by the cult. But I get these announcements after I liberated all regions. So the cult still controlling the radio stations isn't likely. I also blew up all bunkers after killing the leaders so if there were nukes there they would blow up right there too. Also there is a siren goes off in the background while the Father talks just before the bombs drop. And I don't think the Father would do that. So I am pretty much sure it wasn't the cult who bombed Montana. It is either a nuclear war or a hallucination. And I strongly believe whole thing was a hallucination. Because the Father poured two barrels of Bliss in the beginning and actually disappears from the truck in the ending cutscene. Ofc that shouldn't be the case. But if you check latest AAA titles, endings of none is satisfying. IDK why this is happening maybe because of the huge hype that is created before and during the game and story can't quite make up to it. Writing a great story with a great ending and presenting it to the audience in the best way is something really hard to do. Probably things will get better when the devs keep the story above anything. I miss old graphic adventures where story means everything.

And bombs can still go off after this happen. Because you spend quite time fighting The Father if you resist before the bombs drop. So there is a big time window that the bombs can still drop after Rook walks away.

Like the game boss said, the "Resist" option takes a longer time to deal with unlike the "Walk away" option, plus there's a factor of losing track of time while you're high on bliss. It's entirely possible that the nukes detonate regardless of what happens.

Here’s how I would’ve written the ending: The Deputy rounded up all of his allies, new and old to arrest Joseph Seed, the falsifier. As they walk towards the church, guns pointed aimed at him, Joseph speaks to the Deputy, how everything that happened was his fault alone. After given the chance to walk away, the Deputy refuses, knowing doing so would give Joseph the chance to retake Hope County or worse, allow him to go into hiding and make a cult elsewhere. The Deputy says a passage from the Bible, Matthew 7:15. Infuriated, Joseph grabs a trigger from his inside his belt and pulls it. The barrels of bliss explode. The Deputy undergoes a hallucinogenic battle with a terrifying angelic version of Joseph, which morphs into a devil. He defeats him, but not before nukes go off in the distance, and the Deputy blacks out from the blast front. He awakes later with the help of his friends, who explain the barrels of bliss caused the deputy to go into a frenzy while then rest were mentally incapacitated by the drug. During this, the deputy managed to defeat Joseph, who The Chief now says is being transferred to San Quentin. The Deputy decides to stay in Hope County, as they have considered it their home, the land they fought and bled for. For his efforts, Hope County gave the Deputy full ownership of Seed Ranch. In a final scene, the Deputy gets in their plane and flies over the county, contemplating their future.

Well, unfortunately with the release of Pagan Min dlc for Far Cry 6 it’s confirmed canonical that he hid nukes in the US as retaliation for their mess in Kyrat, now the question of who or what detonated the nukes remains unclear, but I feel like it was unnecessary to do that because these news broadcasts give the world more life to it, an easy fix would’ve been to write who or what detonated the nukes, either Pagan himself or even Better Joseph detonated the nukes to just show how fucked up he is, but oh well, it’s still a joy to listen to
