Faramir so so deserved Eowyn I’m so thankful he had a happy and well-earned ending. All that he was force to go thru in the story really paid off; and likewise of Eowyn. The two really compliment each other and I couldn’t be happier to have them be together 😭😭😭

That moment between Faramir and Pippin was so good and made me long for an exploration of their friendship. It looked to me like Faramir was reminded of Boromir and himself as children.

Well said. It's interesting, in my youth when I saw the films as a child; it was Characters like Legolas I thought were cool. As I got older I began to really appreciate characters like Faramir, Boromir, and Sam 👍👍

Sam Murray yes they changed him for the movies structures sake, but i think with the special editions you get a better feeling of his true nature. From the beginning when i first saw the movies he was my favorite character. Even though he got changed, you get the impression that he is a great leader and a noble man who could resist the ring other than his brother

_"The important thing about this ideal is, of course, the double demand it makes on human nature. The knight is a man of blood and iron, a man familiar with the sight of smashed faces and the ragged stumps of lopped-off limbs; he is also a demure, almost a maidenlike, guest in hall, a gentle, modest, unobtrusive man. He is not a compromise or happy mean between ferocity and meekness; he is fierce to the nth and meek to the nth. When Launcelot heard himself pronounced the best knight in the world, 'he wept as he had been a child that had been beaten'."_ -C.S. Lewis, _The Necessity of Chivalry._

Faramir shows his true qualities as a person when he looks down on the dead body of one of his human enemies with remorse, not thinking of victory but sadly thinking of that man's life and what peer pressure had brought him there to meet his tragic end, far away from home.

If you had asked me recently who my favorite Lord of the Rings character was, I would have told you Theoden without a second thought. I won't lie, though. Faramir and Eowyn are catching up fast.

Faramir and boromir are my favourite characters over all for different reasons. Maybe it's because it reminds me of my brother and I. I like stories about brothers. I am the Faramir of us.

Yes, I think Brother characters always resonate for those who have brothers and are a brother to their brothers. I also am the Faramir of my brothers so I feel ya there. If you enjoy Brother stories I'd highly reccomend the first Fullmetal Alchemist series from 2003. It's on Netflix. 👍

Likewise. I feel the most empathetic for those characters. I recommend Warrior (2011) starring Tom Hardy. Their song alone “About Today (Warrior Version) - The National” was enough to make me watch that kind of movie.

“It was Sam's first view of a battle of Men against Men, and he did not like it much. He was glad that he could not see the dead face. He wondered what the man's name was and where he came from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would rather have stayed there in peace.”

Love Faramir.. whenever I go back to the books and read how the Gondor people were distraught when he was lying in the Healing Houses and Aragorn's unrelenting need to bring him back the Shadow of death. I cry every time when I read that part. So sad that it was not included in the movie trilogy

Yes indeed. Filmamir and Book-Faramir are different significantly. But oddly- I don't mind the changes done to him for the purposes of the films. The film adaptations are strong and were made with such love and attention to details as best they could. And in some cases the changes (I think) were better. Like having Arwen save Frodo and fight the Nazgul instead of Glorfindil just putting Frodo on a horse by himself. But Truly the films are a masterpiece trilogy in cinema history. 🙂👍

I loved the movies but I do not love the changes they made in Faramir's story. Denethor was also changed in a negative way. He hated having to send Faramir and Borimir into peril and death but saw it as his duty, as the leader of Gondor. He did not send Faramir away out of spite and when Faramir appeared to be dead it broke something in him.

This is no mere video. It is a beautiful piece of art, showing one of the most underrated LOTR characters, showing what he is like, and it does so in detail. I am thankful that this video is here, it is very poignant, and I return to it frequently. It shows the beauty of this character, and how he was depicted in these beautiful movies. It doesn't only show Faramir, it shows what Boromir says also. ''Yes, there is weakness, there is frailty, but there is courage also, and honor to be found in men!'' ~ Boromir

Greetings, all. Will's oldest brother here. I'd like to open up a discussion on this video: What is your favorite scene with Faramir, and why? Or, perhaps, do you have a favorite line of Faramir's? Mine is where Faramir releases Frodo and Sam. It shows the full and complete finish of the character's story arch, as Faramir goes from clinging to Frodo and Sam and wanting to use The Ring to gain him power and prestige, and letting The Ring and Frodo and Sam go. He was willing to let Frodo and Sam go, even if it meant that his life would be forfeit for it. I commented a similar comment on Will's "Boromir" video just now. I find it quite oddly funny that both Boromir and Faramir's characters go through an entire story arch of wanting The Ring, and then letting Frodo go. Despite their greed and lust for The Ring's power, they showed us that there was still good left in Men; a good worthy of inheriting a beautiful Middle Earth after Sauron's final defeat. ...and...DISCUSS!
