"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Have you ever had your views challenged? It may be healthy to go on Pinecreek, Holy Koolaid (Thomas Westbrook), Cosmic Skeptic (Alex O'Connor), MythVision (Derek Lambert and Dr. Robert M Price), Dogma Debate (David Smalley), etc to see if your views make sense? Have you ever read a book that challenges the validity of the Bible? If you have not then how do you know if it's really true? Do you find it strange that the same rationale you use to claim the bible is true is also used by all other religions (personal experience, faith, my holy book tells me so)?

Correct. It's not "we're broken because we don't love ourselves". It's "we don't love ourselves because we're broken". The only way to restore our brokenness and in the process our godly relationship with ourselves is Jesus Christ.

Oh my days! I was just talking about this with someone on my IG. I’m looking forward to hearing your views😊🙏🏾 addition: I completely agree with your views! Self love in this modern world is all about pleasing ourselves and that’s in great conflict with being a true Christian. Biblical self love is about caring for ourselves, caring about the bodies that’s the Holy Spirit dwells in. What we drink, eat, what we feed ourselves spiritually and etc. Those things are the result of good and Biblically inspired self love..

Self-love is terrible, and I have had this on my mind for a very long time and often tell my Dad about how much I hate the self-love movement of this fallen world. Thank you so much for this video! I'm so thankful God teached me this because for a while I believed that all self love was sinful and neglected rest and my relationship with God took a big toll. I agree on all the points you made about self love, and how we all naturally love ourselves because of our flesh, and while it isn't inherently wrong, it can cause us to become selfish and sinful which contradicts what God wants of us. I also struggled with legalism and still do a bit and I'd be so happy if you could maybe do a short video on that because it would help so many Christians and clear up so much confusion.

Having an almost empty bottle beside myself while I watch this, God gave me an illustration differentiating between self-love and self-denial: Self-love = Everyone is trying to keep their own bottles full, but no one is going to the faucet. Everyone is therefore competing with each other, and even if they come to a compromise and try to distribute the water evenly, nobody is full. Self-denial = Where one bottle, the Christian, keeps pouring out for the others. Of course the bottle will soon run empty, but God obviously won't leave it like that. In fact, God's pouring grace is so infinitely abundant, that it's like a faucet with unlimited supply of water gushing and overfilling said bottle, that the person holding it is shouting for someone to bring the other bottles because water is just spilling everywhere! In other words, God is no mere curious spectator, calling over the angels and pointing, "Hey, look at that guy! See how long will he last as he denies himself!" That would have been a salvation based on our works. No, for what He commanded us to do, He will provide abundantly. I think Malachi 3:10 shares a similar idea to this, in the context of tithing. Also, Matthew 6:33. Let me know your thoughts.

Your perspective here is interesting. From this perspective, it sort of can be taken to mean that while self-care is a good thing, it only goes so far. Since our brokenness is a deep-seeded soul-issue - at best, self-care can only address the symptoms of our brokenness, but not actually fix it. For instance, if our home is dirty and stinky, we can buy all the Febreze we want to make it smell good, but that only addresses a symptom. The issue won't go away unless we actually take the time to clean our house. Until then, if we only spray Febreze everyday, we'll just have a dirty house that smells good.

Great video! I’m new to ur channel & I really like ur content. Very biblically sound and makes sense. I battled with the “just love yourself” idea & I can say it never worked or lasted. I’ve always had the notion that I don’t have to love myself in order to love others even though I don’t recall anyone ever saying that to me. It’s just something built-in. I was always a little sceptical of the world telling me that I have to love myself or I couldn’t truest love others. Now I know that I can love others because He first loved me. His love gives me the power and strength to pay His love forward. I am free from the notion of self-love, self-worth, self-anything because He is greater. 🙌🏼😇 For that I am blessed, as are you. 💞 ✝️Christ is our identity not ‘the Self’

I feel like the thesis here would be something along the lines of: Self love only used as the daily justification and intrinsic self value/motivation is toxic because it perpetuates the idea that your worth is purely based on humanistic elements solely alone as opposed to faith and your relationship with God, yourself, and others. Self love in moderation not used as a justification for holistic care should be complimentary in the sense you might be using tangible goods/services/experiences to enrich yourself but never define yourself let alone the inherent worth/purity of one's self.

I go to church, do extra group Bible studies, teach Bible class, serve, and do all the Christian things. I pray, fast, repeat, and spend as much time as possible with God in the scripture (outside of church services) as I possibly can but I just... I'm conflicted. You, my parents, friends, and spiritual leaders have literally NO idea how conflicting and contradicting this makes someone with a depressed mind feel. No idea. All I can ask for is prayers.

WOW, this thought that came to my mind, while I'm only 3 and a half minutes into the video! ... You were mentioning 4 relationships that God created, and the order you said them: Between me and God, Between me and others, Between me and myself, and Between me and creation. I think that's literally SO BACKWARDS from what the unsaved world wants to promote: Me and creation (reminds me of the verse about worshiping the creature more than the Creator, I think it's in Romans 1 - I think that chapter (starting with vs 18) speaks SO MUCH about this world in our day!), me and myself maybe me and others (but selfishly), And oh no, that leaves no room for God. Oh well .... (But they're going to be really sorry.) Also a song my church used to sing when I was a child (1980s) comes to mind... The first line is: Jesus and others and you, what a wonderful way to spell JOY! 💗 Love your videos as always, and congratulations on the engagement!!
