I haven't seen anybody do a double stagger setup on the M2, and have heard about difficulties fitting 11" wide wheels and 305 wide tires in the rear so I decided to try it for myself! The car is on stock springs/dampers, and is set to the max negative camber in the rear (-1.8deg).
We'll take a look at the Apex SM-10 wheels I decided to use, front and rear fitment of the 18x10" and 19x11" wheels, fitment and road testing of the 305 wide rear tires, and pics of the complete setup!
*Note: An aftermarket brake kit (like my AP Racing) is required to use 18" wheels on the front of the M2 Competition. M2 non-competition has no problem running 18"s in front. Tire sizes are 265/35r18 and 305/30r19.

very interesting that this was able to fit with little to no issues, I plan on doing 295/30/19 in the rear for my M2 so good to know something more aggressive works👍

My Lotus Exige is this way from the factory 16/17, though I changed it to 17/17.

Awesome video as always. I see that you're on OE suspension at the moment. If you were to consider an aftermarket suspension option like the Ohlins R&T which have larger OD springs, do you think your front wheel/tire would end up rubbing against a larger OD spring or spring perch?

Having a spring perch that sits lower (and especially one as wide as the Ohlins) could present an issue, or require a thicker spacer. I'll find out whenever I get around to putting the Ohlins on the car, haha. Luckily for that I also have an additional shorter front spring so I can move the perch up if I need to.

Enjoyed the video! I'm curious to know if you've noticed any difference in the driving experience of the car because of the different unsprung weights of your tire/wheel combinations (ie. Stock/763/SM10)? Car looks great!

Tire model differences have made the largest difference in driving experience. Wheel weights are slightly noticeable when taking off, but as these cars have a good amount of power the difference isn't that great. There's a good difference in feel between the OE PSS, A052s, and RS4s I've used on this vehicle with the OE tires feeling the most responsive, the A052s feeling vague, heavy, and squishy, and the RS4s feeling somewhere in between. Part of this is due to the compounds of these tires, and the other part is due to the wider tread of the A052 and RS4 on the front tires.

Nice video! On my E63 M6, I'm running 305 30 20's on Vossen 20x11 rims in the rear, and they're rubbing on one side. I have no idea what's causing this. My previous setup was AC Schnitzer Type IV 20x10 w/295 30 20's in the rear with zero rubbing issues. Any suggestions?

great info!! 19/18 stagger wasn't a consideration for me... never crossed my mind. I didn't see what tire you selected for the front. For this stagger, to gain the benefit of a more desirable contact patch, I assume the overall dia. of the rear tire will also be greater than the front? Great vid!!

Sm-10 is prob my fav wheel for the e-series bmws. Had them on my e82 135 and they made a drastic improvement with turn in on the track. Currently looking to get another set of these for my e90 track build. How are you liking them on the m2?

I love these on the M2. I'm thinking of picking up another two 18x10 ET33 so I can run a square setup.

@@FaRKle0079 I was thinking another thing you could mention regarding performance gains in addition to staggering is the weight savings; on average these are ~5-8lbs lighter than a BMW oe rims…

Thanks for sharing your experience. Would being a inch lower cause rubbing issues? You are still on the stock suspension.
@FaRKle0079

Being lower should be OK since the camber increases and the top of the tire tucks inwards. This is also why I did that heavy compression test and filmed it.

Very interesting info. Yet also important to know: Do you have the max possible stock negative camber at the rear or is it still at BMW's standard values?
@FaRKle0079
@FaRKle0079 Жыл бұрын
I was at the max negative camber in the rear for the toe I wanted. That wasn't very much (-1.9deg). Moving to adjustable toe arms opened that up more for me.

@@FaRKle0079 Thx for replying. I have one more question: I also want to go to 10J at the front but in 20-inch. I thought ET30 would work with a 20 inch rim but now I am in doubt considering you are using ET28. Would ET30 still work do you think or is it gonna be too close to the strut?
@FaRKle0079
@FaRKle0079 Жыл бұрын
@@155JMM I think ET30 is too close to the strut. Maybe it'd work if you used a tire with smaller tread width than the wheel width so that it was stretched and the sidewalls tensioned inwards, but you won't have much margin.

@@FaRKle0079 Seeing that you apparently have "plenty" of room with your setup at the front, I suspect it should work for me with a 255/30 tyre on a 20x 10J rim and an ET value of 29. I do know that a 255 tyre on a 10J rim already pulls quite a bit and just barely covers the rim lips. What are your thoughts on this? Thx
