Slaughterhouses are still far more beautiful than the massive hypocrisy that is veganisum. Veganisum is a giant fallacy of relative privation. Veganisum assumes that just because meat eaters allegedly kill more animals that excuses their hypocrisy of killing billions of insects and small animals. The “intent” argument is nothing more than special pleading. You damn well know animals still die for the production of your food. Along with this according to the FAO %86 of livestock feed is inedible for humans. The world going vegan will only create a larger demand for corn, wheat, grains etc requiring millions upon millions more insects and small animals to die. The world going vegan will only kill more animals and every vegan will be a walking hypocrisy.

Dorn I never admired the work like the rest often do. The treatment of sheep, lambs ‘disappearing’ leaving their mothers never to return, animals dying, sick and miserable, seemed the opposite of what is portrayed in books, kids parks and television. Always seemed to be hiding or quickly getting certain things done, hidden and kept under wraps. And hunting. Well, I was out right mortified and thankfully only ever did clay pigeon shooting because I hated spectating let alone participating! The birds don’t die swiftly, the dogs are not treated fairly, and they do hunt illegally. As a teen I’d had enough and went vegetarian. A visit to a slaughter house blew open all the lies I were told about this magical ‘end’ they were destined for. Animals we were supposed to care and love so much, yeah right. We send them to hell. Recently vegan last year though as I was still unaware of the horrors on dairy farms in particular. At the time I was only eating cheese and had removed all dairy and animal products from my lifestyle anyway. I will be honest, it’s hard, I’m boringly normal in every other sense but still such an outcast for how I care for animals compared to everyone else here. I guess you could say I was born with some compassion, enough to break free. And my immediate family, namely my parents, were fairly supportive. I used to sneak food to sheep and game, would spend time talking to them in the woods in their pens or in the barns. Would watch the sheep in the fields and watch wildlife quietly, rather than tearing through it on horseback killing anything in your path. The noise of nature used to astound me, and then when farmers and hunters appear, it would our fall silent. I do believe some people will never change though, I’ve sadly been around some awful individuals and cannot see such people very seeing a better way of life.

The only reason I watch videos like this is that I am curious about the arguments from people like Ed. Btw what do people like Ed feel when they accidentally kill animals ? @@anitabauer209 There's a world of difference between accidentally hitting a frog or a bird with your car and holding down a struggling animal to purposefully slit it's throat just to satisfy your taste buds. The main issue Ed is driving at is choice, and we now have a choice whether to kill an animal or let it live out it's life, a life that the said animal wants to live, even if it's an animal that's been bred into existence because of demand, it still wants to live it's life. I also grew up on a small farm where killing pigs and chickens was the done thing, and I thought nothing of it, it just seemed that's what we do. It's one of the few times in my life where I was so thankful of how wrong I was, and made the decision to be a better human being. The arguments of, 'protein though, B12 though et al' are moot, there's so many options now as far as ethically sourced food that give you all the nutritional requirements one needs. And when also weighed against the environmental impact of animal agriculture, and health benefits of a plant based diet, I have no idea why people would not choose to make that change.

The thing is that most farmers are nice people, they are no different to anyone else. My Dad was a farmer and my brother in law farms. It's hard. I see it as akin to the slave trade, often good people who have been brainwashed into thinking that what they do is ok, or somehow part of the 'natural order'. Many farmers come from a long line and farming is their whole life, an integral part of their identity. But many are beginning to see things differently.

For example, you start with lines such as "what is your...", "do you agree that..."would you accept that..." etc. This way, it's easier to expose underlying presuppositions, establish first principles, and draw out critical thinking. It's so powerful that it was removed from the current education (indoctrination) system, but used to be taught to children. Society does not want millions of empowered individuals that know the classical liberal arts because if we did, we wouldn't be fooled by rhetorical devices and sophism used in politics etc.

@@gerardoperez2508 of course no single study or report is perfect but it's one of the best sources we have in an imperfect world. if anything reports like this are skewed in favor of animal ag, where the money is, and against plant-based system that would use less land. but still despite these issues it's basically a top and most recent source to cite. we can also place it in the broader context and it is aligned with the scientific consensus on the situation. which is also really obvious if you even just think about it logically: animal ag takes so much more land and energy because the animals need to eat more calories than their dead corpses constitute - so it's an overall caloric loss which, as the report says, is already contributing to the malnourishment of 800 million people around the world, and this will increase if we don't move towards plant-based system. so if you hate humans, other animals, and the environment, you'll keep up your demand for violence towards animals so you can shove their bodies in your face and cause poor powerless people to be malnourished and starve while you help wreck the environment. the report says of course, as is logically obvious, that the single best diet to "mitigate demand" for animal products and the devastation they cause is to be vegan.

Can't just put blame at the feet of farmers - governments need to help them. They need to be incentivised to grow grains, fruits and vegetables. It's the same with those that live in coal mining towns, of course they resist change to renewables as the change will see them broke and homeless as all of those towns would collapse. One thing that always feels weird to me when watching the farmer videos is that why do people think only animal agriculture is farming. It seems people associate pigs and cattle when they think of farms. Whereas as someone from India, I always associate fields of wheat, rice, sugar cane, cotton etc when I think of farms. Compost toilets need to become more common. Here in Norway people have compsting toilets in the cabins. It is frickin awesome recycling all the nutrients we eat. They dont stink if you set it up right its definitely a realistic for more people to have them and would also conserve water.

Great chats Ed, l think its so important that we get some kind of business model going to help the farmers transition to plant based farming. Its one of the most important steps to a Vegan world. I am so glad you talked about this. The farmers here in Australia get subsidies which could help them transition. With the drought and fires l cant see how they can go back to animal ag.

Veganism or plant based eating has really taken off in the last year or so, it's incredible. I think we all know now that, whatever our level of consciousness about animal welfare, we need to go over to eating plants or mostly plants. The earth can't sustain us carrying on as we were and there's no need anymore. I suppose I represent the average baby boomer who grew up post war on meat and two veg and then moved on to world food and roasts on Sundays. I still eat some meat but I have gradually learned to cook with beans, lentils and vegetables and vegan food has started to appear in my local shops which makes it vastly easier to dine on plants whilst cooking some convenience meals. I can go over more and more to eating plants and feed back my important consumer message at the same time. I dropped cows' milk a few years ago and when I tried to go back I found it quite disgusting in comparison to almond and rice milks. Cow's milk is either watery or too rich and comes laced with guilt and an aura of suffering. It is a slow process for me to change but I think most people will struggle to change too but once the government urges us to switch for climate change, meat will become either luxury or a dirty thing past generations relied upon. Then, animals will be left in peace.

Grass fed cows are carbon negative. It's the ones fed grains that are the major polluters. Grass fed beef is about 3x the price though so unavailable to the vast majority due to the cost. Also the majority of vegans rely on the manure of cows for fertilizer and if you don't then the veg will cost upto 5x more

Ed is very smart. When a farmer makes a good point, he doesn't address it, rather he moves on to another subject. He also speaks very fast. These are all qualities of a good debater when you want to win your argument, but it isn't a good path to the truth. 5:00 is a perfect example of this. The farmer brings up the fact that we need farm animal manure to fertilize lands for crops. Ed says we could use other manure. The farmer says we don't have any other manure to that scale. Ed says we could scale it up and quickly changes the subject. The only way to scale up is to subjugate animals to harvest the manure and he knows it. But that would be an even bigger waste of land because we aren't doing anything with it but producing manure. We would still have to provide those animals with food and water.

The farmer he had the debate with who called slaughterhouses beautiful, i feel is a very soft human at heart. All the way he speaks and the way he says he connects with animals, he is highly conditioned and cannot abandon his methods and way of livelihood but he's having a conflict inside but it looks like hes supressing that intution of 'it is wrong'. People like ed and multiple conversations like these would eventually turn him vegan.

Animals like chickens cows pigs are meant to be killed and eaten, because they can't defend theirself Whether it's by humans or other animals.. That's called Nature.
