17 HMR Browning T Bolt Vs The Rabbits 2

I am hesitant uploading this one, The reaction to it will determine how long it stays. However this is part of running our farm and managing the land, I am not keen on letting other folks shoot here as not all will hold the same.... Way of thinking as me. I anticipate a few folks wont like me shooting rabbits, they are entitled to their opinion and can easily avoid getting upset by not watching.

Wasn't sure if I was going to watch as shooting isn't my thing (I don't mind blood and gore) but it was good to see someone taking their time to zero in and take clean shots. I definitely agree with your principles on shooting bunnies 👍

Great nights shooting Mr P some great shots taken 3 rabbits one after the other must be a little thick to see your mate go down and they stick around Dah maybe you can do an Air rifle night shoot in the farm yard as well we used to use night vision on are rat shoots there is no where to run when using one of those set ups could see everything up to a hundred yards with those worth the investment keep the videos coming I an enjoying all of them so far .. ; ) S C UK

Nice shooting. Don't forget your Elma Fudd impression next time. I know some people won't like this type of video but it's a job that had to be done from time too time to keep a balance, otherwise Wabbits just breed out of control.

some people just don't understand whats at stake if you let this problem get worse they breed a lot in a year where you have 20 say now by years end you have over 40 or more those 5 dislike you have here now they have a choice not to watch it and you did warn them before hand carry on mate take no notice.. Nice shooting! Thinking of getting a 17HMR but a bit put off by the price of ammo compared to a 22, and barrel fouling quickly. How do you find the Browning with respect to barrel fouling altering accuracy?

Not had a problem Paul, its the same as most weapons, keep it clean and dry with just a little lubrication where its needed and it works just fine.

@@FarmerP Thanks for getting back to me. That’s good to hear. With some reports of some rifles losing accuracy after 20 rounds and needing a clean to restore, I was about to ditch the idea of getting one. Might have to look into the Browning then as it’s not uncommon to get 40 or more rabbits in one paddock and still more remain. I always clean my rifles after use but can’t say I’d want to have to clean them in the middle of a shoot! That would’ve a real pita.

Nice going Mr P. That 17 is a lovely tool and it’s a joy to watch it in good hands. I’m right there with you in your views on the job. TBH I’m happy nailing targets, but vermin control needs doing so it’s got to be done. We’ve had so much damage done to our banks this past 12 month it’s just not funny. Cheers!

when my dad was a little lad he used to lay his own traps and get rabbits then sell then to the butcher thats how he got pocket money

Was once shootin pigeons on an owned farm I worked on and a pigeon I shot fell in neighbours field tenanted farm, estate gamekeeper accused me o shootin in hes airspace 🙄😮🤣 he hated the fact that the owned farm was in the middle of estate farmland an chap I worked for wouldn't let him shoot on his land 💪💪

land management comes in all shapes and sizes, if we didnt do it the snowflakes and tree huggers would be up to there armpits in rats, rabbits pigeons, crows etc and be moaning about it.

Glad you kept this one, killing things is not the funnest thing to do, but it will not only protect your livestock as they can be injured by falling in holes but will often help the surviving ones, make it better through winter, with having less critters to compete with, and end up starving to death. As long as you respect nature, try to be as humane as possible, like shooting males or young ones that time of year, and animals that are over crowed...and also since you plan on eating them, so they don't go to waste. It would be nice to see what you cooked with them if you do one of these again, just a little extra content you can add, then you can tell us how good it was. :)

Nick Hill Myxomatosis is a horrible disease Nick, it was used in the UK in the 70s and 80s to control rabbits. Farmers could acquire the disease and introduce it to the wild population, first used in Australia to cure the rabbit plagues in the 1950s. There are some signs of resistance nowadays though, not all die from it, but they suffer terribly..... It’s nasty.
