Hi Lisa, this will sound weird because i am much older than you, but you remind me so much of my sweet Momma( gone since 2017 God bless her) She AND you are such good housewives and mothers. She raised 7 of us and did it with love and grace and always had smiles and good food for us ungrateful wretches😂. I call her an earth mother because it was so natural to her, she LOVED babies and except for 4 miscarriages, would have had several more. She handled every challenge with grace, never complaining and always kept a beautiful house. You truly embody her principles- thank you for the walk down memory lane- Momma would be proud of you!❤❤❤

***LISA… please be careful when doing things like stepping on the dryer. My sister is a nurse who works with spinal/ neck injuries. Shes told me that many accidents happen when people do things that they are used to doing even though it can be risky. Theres a false sense of confidence that develops but freaky accidents happen and the injuries can be serious. Your family needs you so please be very very careful. Ok?? ❤️🥰

At 16:00, your shoe dresser looks very thirsty! Mix up some Murphy’s Oil Soap with water and go over it with a wrung out soft cloth. It not only cleans the wood but also nourishes it. I also keep some in a spray bottle to clean wicker baskets in the shower then rinse and hang to dry. (The baskets I already have and especially those from the thrift store.)

I love, love, love spelt FMF for tortillas. 2.5 C flour 1.5 t salt .5 t BP 1/3 C lard 1 C hot water Mix dry ingredients then blend in lard. Slowly add water, only enough to get a cohesive dough. Make 12-15 balls and allow them to rest(covered w a tea towel) for 30 minutes. Roll out and cook on hot grill. Really yummy and taste as good as the “unhealthy” tortillas I grew up with in South Texas.

When you build your new house you could take a look at Zoe Kim and Matt Paxtons house in, “raising Simple.” They have a laundry, mud room, where everyone has a cubby with a door and shelves below. It is sort of a locker system. Cubby was a good size for coats and backpack. I think there is a bathroom there too. Such a great idea and a hardworking room. They have a blended family with 7 children. This house is lovely. Happy new year.🥳

I grew up on all fresh milled grains. One thing my mom taught me is to mill extra to store in the freezer to always have on hand. Freezing helps retain nutrients and keep the flour from spoiling after it’s milled. So nice when you need a little flour but don’t have time to mill fresh 🤌🏼

I spent a year up north in Terrace BC and started baking bread and was very successful. Then moved down to Victoria BC and found baking wasn't working. Then realized had a mind shift to whole grains in general and that was why because hadn't taken account of differences. Gradually learned how to do to a degree but it's been many, many years since baking bread. Want to do some baking, this year may at least try buns again.
